First, you should know: The Minglewood Tavern and Latitude 43 (Lat43) are attached, and part of the same building. Not reallllyyy sure if they're the same company, but at any rate, they operate both separate from, and in tandem with, each other.
5 Stars as a bar for people 40 or older 5 Stars for musical entertainment 5 Stars as a Sports Bar 4 Stars as a "Quiet drink" bar on weekdays/off season (weekends, there's a live band at night) 2.5...maybe 3 Stars as a place for people 21-30s. 1 star for late-night food (food til 9, fri/sat, food til 10. Not very late-night.)
total = 4 stars, because this place is solid. Here's why:
Low-Down: Minglewood has benefitted from a facelift/remodel within the last few years, and it looks excellent. The inside comes off immediately as cozy: pillows, recessed lights, low ceilings. Neat decorations and chalk art, specials, and a brick pizza oven (oooh.) The bouncers/body-guards at the door on a busy night, on the other hand, come off immediately as overkill, and frankly sort of intimidating. I mean, I agree you should check my ID, but there's no need to bulk-up on the muscle for young people.
You can find locals there watching games live, and you're free to join, but if you support a New York team, just keep that to yourself while the game is on. If you're looking for a nice, quiet drink, go in the afternoons, or on weekday-days. If you want to meet locals from 30+, come any day, evenings. If you're looking to smash; that is, drink with a variety of other people in a busy bar setting, wait for a night that a live band is playing.
Specifics: There's a dirt parking lot connected, and also street parking. That has its successes and failures. Wheelchair friendly.
[Sunday 11:30am - 11:00 pm; serving food til 9:00 pm Monday - Wednesday 4:00 pm – 11:00 pm; serving food til 9:00 pm Thursday 4:00 pm - 12:30 am; serving food til 9:00 pm Friday - Saturday 11:30am - 12:30am; serving food til 10:00pm]
On the drinks: the beers on tap are straightforward, seasonal, and local. Lights, whites, IPAs, ambers, and darks. That, plus more in bottles and liquor/wine galore. If you want a flaming cocktail any time you're not the only person in the bar, the bartender will turn you down. I tried for a Long Island Iced Tea (because of course I did, I'm 24,) and long story short, I ended up drinking a local beer instead--but it was a good beer.
On the food: I can't rate the food because I'm confused on the line between Miglewood and Lat43, where one ends and the other begins, so I'll save food thoughts for that review, which will happen eventually. Personally, I've eaten there and enjoyed everything I've ordered. Good sushi.
I paid about... $5 a beer (+/-$1), which is standard around the area. They run a drink special of simple mixed-drinks on busy nights, which is pretty good too.
Great for your work friends or your posse, stick to Lat43 for the little kids, and for anyone who loves the club scene: stick to the live music nights.

Read moreI am beyond horrified at the experience I had at Minglewood tonight. I came with a friend to enjoy dinner and a band tonight. My friend knew one of the band members and suggested we go. The band was terrific and the food was decent too. However, my friend and I were approached during the night and verbally harassed about our age by a young, very ignorant and disrespectful man. We are older women. I sought out staff to intervene. Their responses and what happened thereafter was even more shocking. One condescending and ignorant security guard first stated we’ll keep an eye on him and refused to do anything, He even stated to me that they can’t do anything about people saying rude things to other patrons. Then, he called me a liar when I later was told by a supposed female manager that I requested to speak to separately, which no one told me her name and she conveniently later disappeared, that he would be removed. She told me to find him and point him out to staff. When I did, I was told that’s not what she told me. Suddenly, no one knew her name when he was not removed or was even approached, or the owner’s name or where this female manager was. They refused to let me speak to any manager again . What happened after that is also beyond comprehension and I will be addressing tomorrow. No one should ever receive the treatment that we received tonight while being a patron in any establishment. What that ignorant person said was bad. but Minglewood’s response to age discrimination and harassment to women made it a hundred times worse. We left. It was entirely unacceptable. I am still in complete shock . I am adding a photo of this ignorant man that harassed me and my friend tonight. I don’t what this world has come to, but when a young man has a need to harass older women minding their own business about their age, there should be consequences. People need to learn you never know what’s going on in people’s lives, life is...
Read moreThis is honest to goodness the FIRST time I have felt the NEED to post a restaurant review... Hubby and I visited on a Friday before "season" opened... Sat by the windows overlooking the ships in moorings... Shawna was our server, and she was for sure a 5⭐ server! Greeted quickly, drinks quickly and accurate. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, SO GOOD! Feta cheese was the perfect touch! Dinner was a burger for my hubby, and it was good. But it wasn't at the level of my Fisherman's Platter. IT. WAS. AMAZING. Big shrimp, and nice haddock fillet, and calamari. Perfectly fried, lightly coated, and clearly new oil... I am a seafood lover and it is hands DOWN the BEST fried seafood I have EVER had! Nothing else to say really, an all-around PERFECT...
