Burger Nirvana
Golden is such a great town with so much to offer. its tourist mecca for all kinds of mountain-related activities, it's a college town that features The Colorado School of Mines, Has a great food and bar scene, and home to the Coors Brewery. What can really put a town on the Foodie Radar is a having a great burger joint. Bob's Atomic Burger does not disappoint. Simplistic in its approach to the art of the burger, Bobs has a small menu, with plenty of add-ons. First, when you walk into this eclectic joint and see the mich-mish of licence plates and stickers from mountain goers past, you get the feel of local hangout vibe.
Bob's keeps' its approach to the burger easy for the burger novice and the burger expert. Its' simplicity is key to how they make this place a success. First, off you pick your protein, whether its plant-based, bird-based or beef-based, Bob's selections are easy to navigate. The selections are beef, grilled chicken, fried chicken, quinoa patty and they have Nathans hot dogs too. next up you pick your bun, your toppings, your cheese and then one of the hearty sides. Keeping the menu simple, you have fresh hand cuts fries, sweet potato fries, onion petals and you pick a small or large size.
My choice on this visit was a Classic Hamburger with the classic trifecta of Lettuce, Tomato, Onions and good 'ole fresh locally sourced bacon with a slice of Pepper-jack cheese.. I asked for my fries to be well-done so they have a little crispness to them and topped with off with typical condiments. I can't remember if Bobs has gravy, so you will have to ask when you visit. The condiments are fresh and changed regularly, and Bob's serves a few house-made sauces as well to add to the choices.
To conclude, Bobs is a great little spot for grabbing a very well-made burger with plenty of toppings and accoutrements to satisfy your burger craving. There are veggie and gluten-free options and they have kids meals as well. The portions are healthy so make sure you bring an appetite. If you are ever in Golden Colorado, stop into Bob's Atomic Burger, you won't be...
Read moreHighly recommended! Since Covid, I have not had many burgers that I've appreciated. We were heading to Golden and I Googled "Great Cheeseburgers". Bob's Atomic was the first listing and the highest rated I've seen in a long time. We arrived at late lunchtime and there was a line to the door, it was busy!. Near the door was a stack of of wrappers with the different foods to order next to a bunch of pencils. We filled out our orders and waited in line. It moved quickly. As we waited we looked around at the funky decor. A guy walked out from the kitchen in a red Schaller's shirt with Zweigle Hots on it. That's literally in our hometown! It was cool to see that 2000 miles from home. And a Nick Tahou Hots sticker was on the wall 😁 I like places that have worn edges and floors, and with scratches on the furniture. This is THAT kind of place. I hope they never paint it or re-floor the place! We placed our order "for here" and turned towards the dining area. It was tiny with just a few tables and chairs. We considered eating outside but it was a little chilly. After a few minutes, the counter near the drink machine cleared out and we settled there. We were given the order name of Michael Phillips. It was called and we waved. The food was delivered and we began to eat. This long story comes to this... It was excellent! We all loved it! Bravo to the owners and the staff. This place is absolutely a gem and I can't wait to visit again! Go and have an excellent time eating a cheeseburger in a pretty little...
Read moreBob’s Atomic Burgers didn’t just serve me a meal — they launched me into a higher dimension of burger-based euphoria. From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped by the robust service that made me feel less like a customer and more like royalty who’d just returned from battle. These people don’t take orders — they deliver experiences.
Now let’s talk about that burger. My God. Each bite was a harmonious explosion of flavor, a Beethoven symphony for the tongue. The patty was grilled to such precise perfection I’m convinced NASA engineers were involved. But the true unsung hero? The rustic taste of the wheat bun. It was as if an entire field of golden grain had been lovingly whispered into bread form by ancient culinary druids.
And just when I thought I’d hit my peak, my server leaned in with a divine suggestion — “Would you like to try the mint chocolate chip shake instead of the chocolate?” That wasn’t a question. That was an angelic act of next-level customer service that fundamentally altered the trajectory of my day. That shake? It was like drinking the essence of a snow-capped mountain kissed by mint fairies and swirled by the hands of dessert gods.
Bob’s isn’t just a burger joint — it’s a sacred pilgrimage for the hungry and the wise. If you haven’t been, go. If you have, go again. And whatever you do, get that mint...
