Golden Sweets — Restaurant in Golden

On a summer day this place gets really over run with tourists. My kids and I go in early spring or late fall and try to avoid being here. The Staff gets completely overwhelmed and it shows. However on a quiet early spring or mid to late fall day they are happy and relaxed and we adore them, They have lots of packaged and cased candies and the ice cream is our favorite. This is NOT a place to be if you have claustrophobia. It Is extremely limited in space especially in summer there's a few places to sit outside but not in the summer. Update 5/25/25 Just a heads up they got this large bill reader now which makes it crystal clear that they have had/ are having theft conterfeit issues...... their losing money somewhere. It also makes it abundantly clear that their summer business is out the door down the block super busy to the point they can't use a pen.Please do not bring large bills in here break them down before you go and save yourself the awkwardness and embarassment of having a bill fail because the reader isn't...

Great ice cream, rude staff.

Bought a few dishes of ice cream with my 2 children. As we were just about finished with the ice cream, the clock struck 10pm. To the second… The clerk immediately kicked us out. This left the kids feeling very sad and feeling like they did something wrong.

I thought the communication was incredibly insensitive to the children having a quiet, enjoyable late nice ice cream. I’m sure you had much closing up to do. Would giving an extra 5 minutes to a few kids been the end of the world?

There are ways to treat people and communicate that it’s closing time, your approach was NOT it. Thanks for ruining the kids’ experience!

Brand ambassadors like the clerk we encountered is terrible for business and we won’t return.

I had a disappointing experience here unfortunately - saw all the wonderful ice cream flavors and wanted to bring my friends after lunch, but when I went in to purchase some of the delicious looking candy, I was passed up by the staff not once, but twice.

They spoke with other customers and served them before me, and messed with the register for quite some time while I was standing there very clearly wanting to purchase something. I was the only person there who was not white and the lady seemed uncomfortable engaging me. No friendly welcome or smile like with the other customers. It’s palpable when you know you are not welcomed.

I think if I ever come back, I’ll make sure to bring a white friend so they recognize my presence. At least the candy was...
