My favorite Mexican place in Goleta and possibly Santa Barbara. I mean there could be something better, but I am quite preoccupied spending time and Tuesdays here. I mention Tuesdays because of their Taco Tuesday special offer with street tacos at cheaper prices. You would think that since they are the less glorified and the simple version of their monstrous tacos, these street tacos are the bee’s knees, and I could eat 10 of them! Of course, they have more to offer but I am a simple taco girl myself. Don’t fret, I have tried different things and they are just as tasty. They offer local beers, house margaritas and even margaritas flights all for those 21+. Their enchiladas are delicious, I’ve even tried just a side enchilada one day (so I can heavily indulge in tacos), but even a side enchilada was great. Every time I have been here there’s been a lot of people but luckily, I have been able to find a table and courteous staff who come and bring you everything you need. Chicken, chorizo, carnitas, al pastor and more, meat, you’ll find it here. The fancy version and the simple version. Try both or even try them all, salads, burritos, chimichangas and more!

Pretty tasty! I'm usually never impressed by the Mexican food choices in Cali. Being from Houston, there is no shortage of amazing Mexican food at home. Los Agaves has given me faith that West Coast Mexican food can indeed be good. I kept it simple... Got steak tacos with a side of rice and black beans. They brought out the wrong beans initially, but replaced them quickly. The meat was great! Perfectly medium with a nice char on the outside... And they gave a great portion as well. The rice and beans were your standard Mexican fare, but still tasty. The salsas also were fresh and delicious. I'd definitely come back. Thanks for restoring my faith!

The food here is pretty impressive. I am always on the lookout for restaurants that serve food in ways that you can’t get anywhere else and this place delivers. The prices are fair for the huge portions and notable quality. I would have given five stars except for the way you have to find your seat and order the food, it is pretty confusing. Also, my mouth was on fire from their amazing salsa, but it took forever for them to brew the iced tea that I had ordered.

Short version: Los Agaves Goleta and their online ordering partner Restaurant Connection screwed up, and when I pointed out the problem, Los Agaves didn't take even basic steps to make it right.

Longer version: I ordered online for my family via Restaurant Connection, and was given a 20-minute estimate until my order would be ready. 20 minutes later, I arrive at the restaurant, but my order isn't ready. It's busy, so I assume their kitchen is just backed up. I wait another 20 minutes, still nothing.

Finally, I ask what the ETA is for my order, only to find out that they hadn't even received the order! Apparently, Restaurant Connection didn't convey my order to Los Agaves (I know that I ordered correctly, I got the confirmation email and everything). Up to this point, it's still fine -- I get that these things happen, I've worked in the service industry, it's annoying but no biggie. They quickly tell me that they're putting my order in now, and walk away. At this point, it's almost 30 minutes past the time my food was supposed to be ready. A little more time passes, and I ask again what the ETA is for my order. They tell me it's going to be 45 minutes. Basically, when they finally put my order in, they put me at the back of the line. I tell the person working the front that that's crazy, I've already been waiting patiently for over 30 minutes past the time my food was supposed to be ready, and that they should fire my order first. She told me that there was "nothing [she] could do", which, let's be honest, is crazy -- literally, just change the order you fire the tickets. I've worked in restaurants, this isn't uncommon. Finally, I tell them to cancel the order and just give me my money back. Which, of course, they won't do (because it was an online order). I walked out.

Bottom line: mistakes happen, I'm cool with that, but when a mistake happens, just take basic steps to make it right. In this case, the basic steps would be to prep my order ASAP so I can get out of there. I would have waited probably 30+ minutes longer than I was supposed to, but I honestly wouldn't have cared all that much. But to stick me at the back of the line when your system screwed up (and don't put it all on Restaurant Connection, you hired them), and to find an excuse not to refund my money was pretty bad. Bad enough for me to write the first negative review of my life haha.

I walked 50 ft over to Mesa Burger, and was able to order and get my food in less...

Seems like every time I order from Los Agaves something goes wrong. My go to order is always a steak burrito mojado. I have had this order go sideways so many times I stopped keeping count. I have had the pleasure of getting a very plump burrito that only contains steak and nothing else. I'm not really complaining, just not what I ordered.

This last time my wife and I decided to order from the Goleta location since we were in the area. Went ahead and ordered, everything was ready for pickup, staff was friendly, everything seemed to order. Got home, noticed a piece of steak on top the burrito, probably to signify its contents, cut into the burrito and it was filled to its entirety with chicken. I like chicken, I can cook chicken, steak however just hits the taste buds differently.

You guys need more staff, your kitchen is too small, all I want is steak rolled up in a tortilla. Please help me accomplish this goal whenever I step foot in your...
