Choppa Poke — Restaurant in Goleta

This place used to be amazing. I would honestly go here multiple times a week! I would also schedule lunch meetings here and tell all of my friends to go there. The owners and employees did everything possible to take care of you.

Recently this restaurant changed owners and names(from pokeme to choppapoke). It has now turned into a place that although I enjoy the food I would rather avoid this place altogether. The prices were raised significantly. When this place opened you could get a large 5 scoop bowl for $10 now a large is $15 with only 4 scoops.

The employees rush you to make decisions and scold you for asking for more. Today I asked for extra cucumbers and the employee says "that really is too much".

The owners and employees are constantly screaming at each other in Chinese. Which is slightly uncomfortable (and I speak Chinese which I don't think the employees knew haha)

This tables are not cleaned very often. I went in at 3pm and we found one table that was not coated in masago.

So in summary the food is good, but it may not be worth the effort and cost to get it. This review honestly makes me sad to give because I have loved this place...

Ordered their poke bowl in english and dined in with my husband. Thinking we could not understand mandarin, we later heard one of the female employees speaking to her colleagues pretty loudly about us and mentioning how disgusting we were as customers. In her exact words "Those two people who just came in, one male and female, having a bowl of poke bowl. Don't you think they are very disgusting?"

I was extremely astonished to hear what she had said given that we did absolutely no wrong. And still find it puzzling why she would have said that. While we did not confront about the issue, we later walked over and spoke in mandarin, to let her know we understood mandarin too.

I guess it's just having a certain amount of basic respect and EQ to not badmouth about your customers so loudly. I hope the boss of this outlet is reading this and would educate your staff about customer service.

BEST POKE IN SANTA BARBARA!!! I came across Choppa Poke on my way back from a camping trip in Jalama. The shop, the service and the food... all perfect!

The lady who made our bowls was unbelievably friendly and made them, well, in less than 5 minutes. I don't know if I've ever seen someone make a poke bowl so fast!

Of course, and most importantly, the food was delicious! The fish was incredibly fresh and juicy. There were tons of different, fun toppings and sauces, many of which were new to me, and I was able to try them all because they offer unlimited toppings and sauces!

Come hungry, because the servings are HUGE! I got a large and was only able to eat half. The lady in the shop gave me a to go lid and I ate it for dinner when we got back to our house. Just as good a few hours later.
