I visited Captain D’s in Goose Creek this past Tuesday and had one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I ordered the $5.99 fish and shrimp meal, and my daughter got the kids' shrimp meal. Within 20 minutes of eating, she started experiencing severe stomach and side pain, and spent the next two hours going in and out of the restroom — mostly in.
The shrimp was awful, and the fish neither looked nor smelled like fish. I used to love the hush puppies here, but this time they were rock hard and burnt. Before this visit, I hadn't eaten here in over six months — and now I remember why. Every time I drive by, the parking lot is empty. After this experience, it all makes sense.
Captain D's used to be my go-to spot for fish, but after this visit? Never again. I called the next day and was lucky the General Manager was there. I explained the situation, and he asked me to call back with the receipt number so a check could be mailed to me. He also mentioned that they recently switched to a new type of fish — which explains the different taste, but does not excuse the quality of the shrimp or hush puppies.

Read moreOn April 1st, I purchased 2 sets of Lobster Rolls as I normally do. Today, the bread was hard and the seafood was warm. I called the restaurant and spoke with the MOD; Jennifer. I was very kind because I normally enjoy the rolls, but I wanted her to know that they must be careful because seafood salad must be kept cool. In my opinion, Jennifer was extremely NASTY. She told me that without a receipt they usually do nothing at all. I didn't know if I kept my receipt because I don't normally return lobster rolls, but it was the manner in which she told me that they usually do nothing at all to appease the customer. I found my receipt and I headed back to "Captain Don't " for a refund. Once again, it appears that the most unqualified person got the job. By the way, she hung up the telephone on me because she said it was the dinner rush. Unprofessional and classless. I also checked and they have numerous reviews that gave them one star. The place looks to be freshly painted and was clean. Service was fast. My dad popped in out of the blue while we were eating and joined us. No complaints from me on any of my food except the Buffalo shrimp could have used a bit more Buffalo. But I'm a spice guy, wife enjoyed them. There was a young lady cleaning tables, I had informed her the sweet tea was out. She said she would get it filled when she washed her hands. The shift manager stepped out and told her it was time to clock out. I'm not sure if it ever got filled as we left shortly after. 2 things of note. 1, if your sitting in the corner booth closest to hwy 52 opposite the drive thru window, tell your wife to bring her coat.
