Just a year ago I gave this place 4 stars. We've been going religiously once a week (much to my children's dismay). However, recently, things just, went down hill.
Twice now I've felt sick after the Shrimp Fried Chimichanga's. The salsa varies greatly in quality (with most recent stops being nearly red water), chips for that red water were "rebaked" (yes, I -can- tell that you are re-baking chips, likely from the day before? Grouse.). Chicken bone in a chicken taco that chipped my front top tooth (just barely and I'm not a "sue happy" type, it caused no pain after all but still a fact). Just bleh. You would think after so many visits, they might act as though they recognize you from just 7 days ago, 14 days ago, etc. Nope. Like a new person coming in everyday. Ok, I'm not the most social being on Earth, but... I am friendly, respectful and I am a loyal patron. Or was.
Someone made a comment of "Worst Mexican food ever had!" to which the owner replied: "Thank you very much for your comment that's why I'm in business 17 years." This lacks any professionalism. You do NOT mixed business and personal. No it wasn't my comment, however, it speaks measures that snide sarcastic remark.. and combined with the recent lawsuit/charges regarding treating your employees like garbage. We'll stick to Poblano's now! I can say, that the past four weeks of eating at Poblano's, they actually say, "Hi again how are you today?". Even if it's just a "bluff" and they don't really remember me.. it makes me feel more welcome. Oh and their salsa.. there is no better that I've tasted in Charleston. I'm speaking about Poblano's now, not Los Arcos. Adios Los Arcos. (P.S. Debes saber que hablo espanol --- and could understand the comments of some of your wait staff! against the owner...

There is a reason this restaurant has thrived here for as long as it has. The food is pretty good and very favorably priced. Trust me, if you are looking for "authentic" Mexican food there are plenty of places around the area where that can be had... for considerably more money. If you are "pro" enough to be writing a review of your experience here, then you should be wise enough to differentiate between the price categories and adjust your expectations.
The people are always friendly and attentive most times. Face it, they get overwhelmed when the place fills up in 10 minutes so the service might suffer a little during the rush. This is a small local place folks - not a bistro in LA.
The margaritas are generous. The fajitas for 2 can feed 5 with a few extra tortilla shells. There are many other gems on the menu so try 'em all!
If you are looking for a big time experience, you probably shouldn't be eating in a restaurant in a strip...

We ordered our meals and literally within maybe 5 mins our meals came to our tables which I immediately thought that was weird. I wish I had taken pictures, but I got burritos tapatios, and when he sat the plate down, I was confused at first because all I saw was lettuce... I had to dig under all the lettuce to find the two burritos, which were oddly wet.... the meat inside was good and tender but just very blah and bland. My boyfriend ordered a chicken quesadilla, which came out looking just like a chicken taco.... He said it was okay, just dry chicken. So we decided why not try the churros... again, they were just ok. I've definitely had better churros. They were kind of hard and had cherry sauce all over the plate, which totally gave them an odd flavor. But again we ate them because it was ok. Everyone is very nice, but I really hope the food gets better and more authentic because that, for me, was disappointing. Service was ok he...
