We opted for a closer all you can eat buffet. Went on a Sunday afternoon.
As expected it was busy, at the same time we were seated right away which was a surprise.
Overall there was a lot of seafood which seems typical on Sundays at Chinese buffets around town. We paid $15/pp plus $2 for a soda/tea -all you can drink.
The youngest was 6 at not quite $11 (it was something like $10. 45 or 95 can't remember)
They had soups, a salad bar with limited items but mostly fresh. A sushi bar, dessert bar, and three hot bars. There was a freezer with large tubes of ice cream - 6 flavors I want to say. Not my preference- having options was great but children serving themselves wasn't optimal with very low tubs. Looked good but passed on that one.
Overall I'd say typical to this area - everything tastes like it has a layer of oil on it. Not the worst we've had. If you've been to Chinatown in Summerville across from the Walmart just off the highway I'd say that's the best in town hands down in terms of highest quality food without it being saturated with oil. Compared to them I'd say this place was greasier.
They only offered PLASTIC forks and spoons. You did have the option for a real knife but that's it. It was a very flexible/ cheap/ soft plastic that made cutting my lettuce, cucumbers, even tomatoes impossible.
The person who seated us was rather aggressive in her ways which was NOT welcoming but the waitress we had was nice.
We were never offered a drink refill, which was disappointing.
You pay on the way out but our waitress took our payment and brought it back to the table. Likely because there was a line? Not sure.
Overall not horrible not the best we've ever had. Wouldn't mind going on a weekday to see what they serve differently.
Plenty of parking
Large groups would easily be accommodated.
There was a person who came out often with some radio gadget to tell the kitchen what to bring out so they did stay ontop of things I'm that regard.
There were a few American type items - pepperoni pizza, fries.. incase you have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do not like to rate 1 star, especially when I've only visited a business one time. But when walking into this Restaurant, the first word that came to mind was "cockroach." Looks can be deceiving, though, so I tried to ignore it, but I regretted that very quickly. Before we even got our food, a cockroach came crawling out of the napkin-wrapped silverware we were handed, onto the table. Someone in our group thankfully smashed it with the napkin before it made it's way into someone's food. Delicious. Before the cockroach made it's appearance, we came in and were ignored by the staff and what seemed to be the manager. After a while, we took the liberty of helping ourselves to the back room, and since we were a group of 10 or 15, we pushed a few tables together to accommodate our group. They couldn't seem to figure out how to do this on their own, and didn't seem very content we were doing so ourselves, but eventually after giving us dirty looks, they assisted. Being hungry (and unaware of the cockroach at this point), I had stepped away from the whole table-shifting drama and had already grabbed a plate while the others were arranging tables / battling roaches, and the food I tried was mediocre at best. I'll be honest, the general tsao chicken was actually very good, but a lot of the food was soggy and... well honestly I expected another cockroach to crawl out of it. The place looked all around gross and unclean, the (manager?) came across extremely rude, and the other waitresses were kind enough after we were seated, I suppose, but didn't seem to care whatsoever about us. But they were quick to bring drinks and refills. And wipe off the cockroach. My expectations for buffets are pretty low, and all in all this experience would have been understandable (though not enjoyable) if we were paying for a dirt cheap buffet, but for over $13 a person, not including drinks, we definitely never be going back, and unless you appreciate extra "protein" in your food and bad service, stay away from this place. $13 a person is spent...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTL/DR: Amazing. Just go! Do it!! Fresh food & friendly service.
My grandparents have been raving about this Chinese buffet since i got into town here and we finally had the time to stop in and get a bite from quote my grandma's "favorite restaurant".
When we showed up we where warmly welcomed and seated. When getting sat my grandparents got choosey and asked for a favorite booth which was available and too no issue. I joked on how cute my grandparents where. Friday night they had plenty of seating available for us.
As we sat they took our drink order and before we had returned with our first plates drinks popped up on our tables. The refreshments where crisp and ice cold. The wait staff diligent in their floor duties refilling drinks and clearing plates before you get back from second trips.
BTW ... The forks in ya napkin ššš“ I was silly looking around a minute for one.
The food was so fresh! Everything I had tasted fresh. Usually at buffet places you'll get a weird grease vibe from the dishes overall after eating. Not here at Golden China Buffet!! The green beans so yummy. I probably ate my weight in them. The dishes where flavorful. Distinctively different as it should be, but rarely get at buffets. Sushie was delicious and a beautiful variety displayed. I tried and dabbled many dishes I normally wouldn't and was pleasantly surprised with each of them. Jalapenos in the spicy dishes packed a crawling heat that only vanilla ice cream and banana pudding could help. So delish!! Highly recommend it. You'll enjoy it. I will definitely be coming back to enjoy more.
What they lack in atmosphere they make up for in food my Gramps said as we where all quietly munching away. But I thought the chandelier and lighting was very pretty and I found my glaze getting lost to the blue and sparkle as I mindlessly shoveled food in.
Oh, and Be sure to peep their Betta fish sushie behind the counter. He's...
