Masa Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Goose Creek

Wow. This was gnat-tastic. When I first pulled into the lot, I said Wow, this is a hole in the wall.. but I said you can’t judge a book by its cover. We walk inside (no bug bites yet), and to my surprise this place looked very elegant, very modern! We were seated quickly and had our order taken. The soup and salad was good, but that’s where it ends. We ordered the 3 rolls for $20 deal.. 2 spicy tunas and a shrimp tempura. Wow, i’ve never seen pepto colored spicy tuna in my life. But again, can’t judge a book by its cover, maybe it’s a secret recipe. Nope, wrong again. I don’t even know what it tasted like, and the shrimp tempura was more cucumber than shrimp.. now this is where we got our horderves.. gnats. At first 1 gnat came to check it out.. next thing you know, a whole swarm starts attacking my neck, all sushi rolls, and one even fell into her sprite.. at this point she had to leave the restaurant due to nausea.

Wow we said. This is crazy. We were swatting like I was outside at a cookout… Except .. yeah

Needless to say the food was no longer being eaten. I got my bill, told the manager, and thankfully got a whopping 25% discount. Let’s go!! No telling how many bugs are around back. Oh.. and the manager told us it’s because it’s summer time.

Would not go back.. unless you want a cookout experience, and then I still wouldn’t because the sushi wasn’t...

This place has a complete remodel inside. It was clean and inviting! Our party of four was seated quickly. We had two apps for the table, three sushi rolls, an udon and steak meal, and three hibachi dinners, each with a double protein. The apps came out quickly and were hot and delicious. This was followed by soup and a tray of sushi, and shortly after, our meals. We had a full table! Everything was hot and super tasty. The shrimp and chicken received high praise, with the juicy, most tender chicken slightly edging out the shrimp. There are enough specials throughout the week that this is one of the best values in the Creek - bill was just over $100 for four adults. The only thing we didn't get was dessert, but we will be going back for that tempura cheesecake! All of the staff were amazing, efficient and incredibly helpful. We have a similar place closer to our house as we live just between Goose Creek and Moncks Corner, but we will drive the extra bit of time to visit Masa again...highly recommend you get some. This is the kind of place you want to...

I'm only leaving one star today because apparently the chef needs to learn how to speak and read English because he didn't know the difference between chicken and steak hibachi!!! I place an order for two steak hibachi dinners went there got my food, when I finally made it back I realized it wasn't steak it was chicken so we brought it back for them to give us the right order... As we're on our way home the second time the restaurant called us and says did you order the chicken or the steak? WE SAID STEAK OBVIOUSLY, THE GUY STARTED SCRAMBLING TO APOLOGIZE saying he thought it was chicken so we look in our bags and for the second time in one night with the same customer they got the order wrong again so we turn around and go get the food for the the third time praying it's going to be right and it was but by that time we were so done with these people and their non-english-speaking workers... Learn the difference between chicken and steak, they sound nothing alike and they're spelled completely different so maybe your chef needs hooked...
