UPDATE: I left comments on my bill and on a positive note, manager did make fl-up contact with offer to make things right. Said she would offer a discount coupon and asked that i let her know when i visit and she would personally supervise our service . She explained that our server had only one month on the job.
Original review: Very poor experience. Had a reservation but two large parties like ours came in later but were seated 1st. When meal was served we didn't have silverware so had to wait, as well as no water brought to table. To top it off, one of our party of 10 did not get her meal. Waiter was not checking with us so I had to track him down and most of our party were close to finished before the missing meal arrived (clearly had to be prepared, so took longer to be served). This was an important celebration for family and friends and $256.00 bill was not justified. Manager should be ashamed👎 Most managers with even a few of these kinds of errors would have tried to do something to try to make things right. Not Fugi. Rather they tacked on an automatic tip. Bad news. Food was interesting but I cannot recommend this restaurant when so many in Grand Forks offer an excellent dining experience. Buyer beware if you go to...
Read moreI spent $200 on 3 adults and 2 kids and we all left hungry. We had a reservation but they would only seat us with a group of another 8. I told them we would wait to get seated again so the kids could see the grill but they waited until there were 8 other people. Needless to say my children did NOT get to see the Hibachi grill. The people sitting with us were partying (more power to them) and I had to switch seats with the one child who could barely see the the grill so the drunk guy would stop bumping him off his seat and onto the floor. It was all tolerable, even the over priced food, until we were "finished" eating. Now I have been to many hibachi places form NY to LA and I have NEVER left hungry. But I did here. Why? Because when they cook and serve the food the people to the left of the chef got screwed because he gave giant portions to the other party and by the time he got to us he was quite short. Again, no big deal until you get the bill for $200 and have to stop by McDonald's on the way home. I think the novelty of a Japanese place in Grand Forks blinds people from the lousy experience and over pricing. Thats why people got to Little Bangkok for Sushi instead of Konnichi...
Read moreI visited Fuji last week in the afternoon specifically for their Hibachi Lunch and placed my order accordingly. While the food itself was decent, the real shock came when the bill arrived—they charged me nearly double the listed lunch price. When I questioned it, their explanation was even more absurd: they don’t serve Hibachi Lunch on weekdays, and apparently, that’s written somewhere in the menu book. Seriously—who reads the entire menu cover to cover at a restaurant?
Without informing me, they served the Hibachi Dinner instead—without my consent—and expected me to just accept the inflated price.
This is completely unacceptable. I was misled, overcharged, and then treated with utter disrespect. The staff was rude, dismissive, and flatly refused any kind of compensation or even a simple apology.
The whole experience felt more like a scam than a meal. It’s incredibly disappointing—especially from a place that should uphold the values of Japanese hospitality. I walked in expecting good food and service; I left feeling cheated, frustrated, and insulted. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to be cautious. This place has completely shattered my perception of...
