Authentic Flavors and a Memorable Experience at Las Delicias de la Abuela!

If you're looking for authentic, delicious Mexican cuisine in downtown Grand Forks, Las Delicias de la Abuela is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, the chill atmosphere and warm hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.

I ordered the Birria, and wow – it was exactly what I needed. The slow-cooked, tender meat was bursting with flavor, perfectly complemented by the rich, savory consommé. Every bite felt like a tradition of excellence.

My wife had the Chilaquiles con Huevos, and it was a perfect plate for someone who doesn't eat meat. The crunch of the tortilla chips paired with the tangy sauce and perfectly cooked eggs created a dish that had my wildly expressive wifey repeating "Oh my gosh" and "MMM" over and over again. LOL

For my daughter, the Carne Asada was a hit! Juicy, perfectly seasoned steak served with all the classic sides – she couldn’t stop raving about it (and neither could I when I inevitably finished her plate too!).

Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch or a festive dinner, Las Delicias de la Abuela delivers on every front. This family-owned gem truly lives up to its name, serving up the "delights of grandma" with love and authenticity. We’ll...

We travel full time but are originally from Arizona and are always looking for authentic Mexican food or at least something close to Arizona style Mexican food. We read the reviews on this restaurant and wanted to try it. We were disappointed. I ordered a chicken chimichanga with enchilada sauce. My husband ordered a birra chimichanga with enchilada sauce. We both received a birra chimi with enchilada sauce. When someone (what seemed like the owner) came to the table to check on us we told her my order was wrong and she just said, "is it good?" She didn't offer to correct the mistake and did not compensate us on the check.

Pros: the restaurant seemed clean we were seated fast and received our food quickly enchilada sauce was okay tortillas were good birra meat was not greasy

Cons: waitress didn't write down the order and returned to verify my husband's order. I received my order wrong. way too much cheese in the chimi. More cheese than meat. cheese seemed like mozzarella, which seems to be normal in the Midwest but is not what we get in Mexico, Central America or the Southwest. My husband thought the refried beans were just too smokey but I think it tasted like old used lard...

My wife and I saw this restaurant the other day and had discussed stopping by. A couple of days later we saw they had a food truck over at Bringewatt Park for an event so decided to stop by. Ordered a steak burrito and some flautus. The food was absolutely amazing, and I loved the salsa they had out. Had just the right kind of spice/heat to my liking. After cooking up our food we attempted to pay with card, but they were having problems with their card reader and offered to give us the food/drinks free of charge. (We were able to get them reimbursed via Venmo, but super nice they offered.) After finishing up our food and watching the soccer game, we picked up our trash and started heading back to our condo. One of the employees there saw us walking back, ran towards us, offered to take our trash, and took it back to their trash receptacle. Not accustomed to this level of service. Very good food and very nice folks. They've earned me and my family as repeat customers. If you haven't checked out Las Delicias yet,...

My mom and I just went there at 4:30 today the 11th of January. We got here before the rush and were kindly greeted at the door when we came in. We were seated immediately and handed not one, but TWO complimentary dishes chips and salsa and this tomato noodle soup that was absolutely amazing. We were served in a timely manner and our food came out in less than 10 minutes!! It was absolutely delicious!! The staff were all smiling and having fun at their job, I even caught one guy doing the salsa ☺️❤️ I’m not sure who thought the other two Mexican restaurants in town were better, but this spot is wayyyyyyy better. So much flavor and love put into the meals. We were in and out with half an hour and had the quickest service in town! I will 100% be coming back!!

Don’t miss out on this place!! In summary, it was super delicious! I ordered and was severed the food within 15 minutes of being there. They start off by giving you chips and a bowl of salsa. Not a little dish of salsa! An entire bowl! And a little cup of noodle soup! So good! I ordered the carne Asada chimichanga and it might have been the best chimi I’ve ever had! And the carne asada inside was very flavorful and tender. So much cheese inside and the tortilla was next level. I didn’t think it was greasy or mushy at all! Very enjoyable! Waitress was so sweet too!
