Authentic Flavors and a Memorable Experience at Las Delicias de la Abuela!
If you're looking for authentic, delicious Mexican cuisine in downtown Grand Forks, Las Delicias de la Abuela is the place to go! From the moment we walked in, the chill atmosphere and warm hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience.
I ordered the Birria, and wow – it was exactly what I needed. The slow-cooked, tender meat was bursting with flavor, perfectly complemented by the rich, savory consommé. Every bite felt like a tradition of excellence.
My wife had the Chilaquiles con Huevos, and it was a perfect plate for someone who doesn't eat meat. The crunch of the tortilla chips paired with the tangy sauce and perfectly cooked eggs created a dish that had my wildly expressive wifey repeating "Oh my gosh" and "MMM" over and over again. LOL
For my daughter, the Carne Asada was a hit! Juicy, perfectly seasoned steak served with all the classic sides – she couldn’t stop raving about it (and neither could I when I inevitably finished her plate too!).
Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch or a festive dinner, Las Delicias de la Abuela delivers on every front. This family-owned gem truly lives up to its name, serving up the "delights of grandma" with love and authenticity. We’ll...
Read moreWe travel full time but are originally from Arizona and are always looking for authentic Mexican food or at least something close to Arizona style Mexican food. We read the reviews on this restaurant and wanted to try it. We were disappointed. I ordered a chicken chimichanga with enchilada sauce. My husband ordered a birra chimichanga with enchilada sauce. We both received a birra chimi with enchilada sauce. When someone (what seemed like the owner) came to the table to check on us we told her my order was wrong and she just said, "is it good?" She didn't offer to correct the mistake and did not compensate us on the check.
Pros: the restaurant seemed clean we were seated fast and received our food quickly enchilada sauce was okay tortillas were good birra meat was not greasy
Cons: waitress didn't write down the order and returned to verify my husband's order. I received my order wrong. way too much cheese in the chimi. More cheese than meat. cheese seemed like mozzarella, which seems to be normal in the Midwest but is not what we get in Mexico, Central America or the Southwest. My husband thought the refried beans were just too smokey but I think it tasted like old used lard...
Read moreMy wife and I saw this restaurant the other day and had discussed stopping by. A couple of days later we saw they had a food truck over at Bringewatt Park for an event so decided to stop by. Ordered a steak burrito and some flautus. The food was absolutely amazing, and I loved the salsa they had out. Had just the right kind of spice/heat to my liking. After cooking up our food we attempted to pay with card, but they were having problems with their card reader and offered to give us the food/drinks free of charge. (We were able to get them reimbursed via Venmo, but super nice they offered.) After finishing up our food and watching the soccer game, we picked up our trash and started heading back to our condo. One of the employees there saw us walking back, ran towards us, offered to take our trash, and took it back to their trash receptacle. Not accustomed to this level of service. Very good food and very nice folks. They've earned me and my family as repeat customers. If you haven't checked out Las Delicias yet,...
