First time visitor, probably the last. I am always excited to try new breweries and when my friend was in town from Colorado, we decided to check out a brewery in Grand Rapids neither of us had tried.
Beer was decent. No complaints. Solid to style offerings that I enjoyed.
We came on a Sunday for an early afternoon and definitely wanted food. I ordered steak and eggs, but I was annoyed the eggs could not be scrambled. The reasoning was āThe cook didnāt know how to do that.ā Im no culinary instructor, but itās not rocket science to scramble some eggs!
My wife ordered the same. My friend ordered a taco egg dish. And her parents ordered steak and eggs as well.
Food came and unfortunately thatās where the road really got rocky. My friendās meal was cold (not supposed to be cold) so she had to send it back. Her momās steak was bloody to the point of very rare. The waitress then commented that was how it was to be prepared. Mine was med-well. My wifeās was as well. So then my friendās mom asked to have a well done steak, and the waitress has to ask if the cook can do that. When the waitress comes back, she explains the chef canāt cook a steak well done. Canāt do that? You leave the steak on the grill longer! So then my friendās mom ends up ordering something else while we are all eating. To put salt in the wounds, our salsas were all messed up and mixed up between the plates.
My frustration and the frustration of others was why not do what the customer asked? Scramble my eggs! Make a well done steak if she wants! The afternoon of a meet up after not seeing each other for a year was disrupted by trying someplace new and being stone walled by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been 1 of 2 people at the bar and no one has checked on us in about 30 minutes despite having an empty drink at the end of the bar. Our parking is out of time at this point. Gave 2 stars bc the drinks were good, the service was quite honestly horrible. 5:00 service coming in appears to be better for what itās worth for those coming in.
Editing bc I canāt respond back to the comment provided which was quite disappointing of a response. There were multiple staff and literally 3 total customers for much of the time (me and my partner being 2 of themā¦so is staffing really the excuse here? Sighā¦). We even tried to get attention of the staff who looked at us and immediately walked away. We had been watching the time because of the meter and plans to go to our next destination but I wanted another drink ahead of that so I am quite confident in my recap. I understand trying to protect your business, but calling out an experience as incorrect when we were literally experiencing it is what will definitely make me not return. The female you were talking about walked by us to help a walk in and that was it, no verbal exchange with us (unless you are referring to the beginning in which case I had a taster and a drink and did not need more drinks at the time, obviously). It was towards the end of a shift, on a seemingly slower/snowy day and it felt like staff didnāt want to be there. You can choose to take the feedback and become more aware/improve or you can choose to make excuses and blame your customers, which appears to be the latter...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFound this great brewpub by chance, and so glad we did. The menu is Puerto Rican at heart, which we loved. Try the Tostones [fried plantains] - they are excellent! They are NOT sweet and are a healthier alternative to fries. My meal was excellent, and the beer was great. They have a scaled-back menu, which I prefer because that tends to mean fresher food. Only drawback was that a vegan person like my husband will be hard-pressed to dine here, since even the rice dish has bacon in it. So it would be nice if they would have a Vegan rice option. My husband will eat Fish in a pinch, so he ended up having the Fish [or maybe Shrimp?] taco. The food was excellent, the service was great. I was initially not super crazy about having to order on my phone, but the server was really attentive and came over to help us and answer our questions. I think it made service much faster so you didnāt have to wait for when the server gets around to coming to your table, so that was a plus. It also would make splitting a tab much much easier, though my husband and I paid together. Just know that this is not a typical sit-down restaurant in that sense. The music they were playing was perfect and I was really just feeling good vibes here, looking out to the old...
