Dotties Hometown Cafe — Restaurant in Grand Rapids

Went there for breakfast yesterday and the staff was friendly service was good , food , not so much , eggs were over cooked bacon was under cooked but we went back today because of the friendliness but boy were we in for a surprise the owner (Dottie) was in there and she preceded to ignore us and take care of the locals first a waitress was headed to our table and Dottie sent her to a different table , people that arrived after us and already had their drink orders taken , then Dottie herself came to our table and was very rude , not only to us but to her staff as well , so rude in fact that we left and on our way out she said " I'm not in the mood for this " , well I'm not in the mood to be treated like that by a proprietor , she would be much better off to just stay back there in her little house and let the staff handle the business , sorry to say even if they had the best food in town I...

We have eaten at Dotties over the years and are usually very satisfied with the food and service. Stopped in last week at 8 am. The three of us were seated right away, and our drink order was taken, then the fun began. It took 20 minutes to bring an orange juice, water and a pop. In the meantime, "regular" diners came in to eat and were being waited on immediately. Our drinks finally arrived. We were told another server was going to wait on us and that we would be next. We watched 3 other tables arrive and have their orders taken. We finally were able to order. When our food arrived, the hashbrowns were undercooked horribly, but our bacon and toast were burnt. At today's prices, friendly prompt service and good food quality is an expectation. Dotties failed at all three expectations. Unfortunately it will be a very long time before we will return to eat...

We got seated quickly eventhough the place was packed! The waitress was very robotic. Not very personable to each table. It took a long time to get our food as we had expected due to how busy it was. We had breakfast foods. Waffle was a little on the burnt side, bacon was undercooked, hashbrowns were amazing! The biscuits and gravy were not good. The gravy tasted like cream of mushroom soup straight from the can with onion powder mixed in and some sausage links cut up in it. I could only eat about half of the biscuits and gravy. I had a stomachache within 20 minutes after eating and ended up spending most of the day in the bathroom. I would try there again but...
