If you’re looking for a great brunch spot in Grand Rapids, Good Truckin in Eastown is definitely worth checking out. We finally made it there and were really impressed with both the food and the experience. For this visit, we were in more of a lunch mood and decided on the Steen's Revenge Sandwich—Nashville hot chicken, fries, slaw, pickles, American cheese, ranch, and BBQ on grilled sourdough. It was packed with flavor and had just the right amount of heat. We also tried the Hillbilly Fries, which were loaded with braised pork, cheddar cheese, cheese sauce, slaw, and BBQ. They were delicious, but the portions are big—if you’re ordering them as a meal, the half order is more than enough! Aside from the food, we really appreciated how clean the space was. We sat up at the bar with a clear view into the kitchen and were impressed by how well it was maintained. Our server was also really friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Overall, we had a great visit and are already looking forward to going back to try more of the menu.

I've lived in the neighborhood for awhile and have been to the restaurant when it was a couple of different types. But I have to say that I REALLY like it now. Large portions of delicious comfort foods. With subtle wonderful twists. We had the bourbon street french toast. Wow!! I had ordered a side of caramel syrup, but I didn't use it all. The bourbon sauce was very generous. It was a fantastic dish! We ordered a side of the seasoned fries (that were potato cubes and better than fries.). But we didn't need them. Our portions were huge and included fries. We also had the Hangover. Braised pork and gravy and eggs. Absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back! Update: I have gone back a couple more times since my original post. Still great food and great service. I'm doing keto right now and so they helped me pick out lots of proteins with no carbs.

We were on a trip to Grand Rapids and decided to try this place for breakfast. It was fantastic! We’ve had breakfast in dozens of places and this is definitely one I would try again. I love that I can get French toast that also comes with potatoes and meat. My food was great - I could taste the cinnamon in the French toast, the seasoned potatoes were crispy and fresh, and the bacon was thick. My dad orders a ham and cheese omelette with American cheese at every restaurant, and this one was perfect - cheesy and well-cooked. We were there on a Thursday morning so it was not busy, the service was fine but not overly friendly. If we were in the area again I would come back and try some of the other interesting options.

Let me preface this review by mentioning I was a short order breakfast cook for four years, and breakfast is by far my favorite food.

I swung by Good Truckin on Monday, 4/15. Sat at the bar and ordered what I’d get at any breakfast joint as I’m a fairly simple dude. Got the classic breakfast with over easy eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast. I order this all over the city and for some strange reason can never quite get proper over easy eggs. They’re almost always cooked too hard and become gummy on the bottom. I’m not super picky so that’s never an issue, but Good Truckin absolutely nailed them. Cooked whites, beautiful runny yolks from top to bottom. Nothing makes my day better than some well cooked eggs.

Toast was nice, thick, and golden brown. I appreciate that they have side pads of real butter instead of slopping the usual soy butter on in the kitchen which inevitably leads to soggy wet toast. Home fries were nice and hot, very well seasoned and great to dip into my perfectly cooked eggs.

All of the employees were friendly and present enough to make my visit quick without being overbearing as I did some reading while I ate. The old sonic cartoon was also playing in the dining room which was cute to see. Food was cheap as hell for the quality I received as well.

All of this is to say- I’m glad you’re in my neighborhood, Good Truckin’! We’ve needed a solid breakfast joint that cares about the food they’re putting out. I’ll be around plenty more.

Props to the dude who cooked my eggs once again, you...

Such a poor dining experience. Will not be coming back here anytime soon until they have more staffing. My girlfriend and I came for a midmorning breakfast and were sat surprisingly very quick. Coffee was great, we thought it was really cool that every person gets a personalized coffee mug.

The first issue came shortly after which was that we were not served or even checked on for another 30 minutes after getting our coffee. Our waitress clearly had some friends that she was serving and spent a lot of her time chit chatting and laughing while we just waited. We had to walk up to her just to get her attention to remind her that we hadn’t even ordered food yet. After we ordered, it took OVER an hour just to get our food. I appreciate that our waitress gave us free coffee and took half off our bill without asking. The sad thing was that just about every table around us was experiencing the same issues. And they continued to seat people!

With all that said, the food was amazing. Breakfast burrito was one of the best I’ve had. My girlfriend had the tacos which were also great. I hope this place can find some more staff to work in the kitchen, because it has a lot of potential. Unfortunately I don’t see this place staying open for much longer if others share the same...

It was just fine, nothing more. Nothing as good as the original Lansing location.

I ordered basted eggs but the server said they wouldn’t do that? I’ve been to the Lansing location many times and they’ve never said no to basted eggs. I guess I don’t understand what the reason would be for not doing them. I almost wonder if the server just didn’t know what it meant and wasn’t willing to take the time to ask the kitchen.

I ended up ordering a breakfast taco in a panic move when she said no to my original order. It was just ok. VERY plain. Just scrambled eggs and bacon. No cheese, no sauce, no salsa.

Service was also pretty slow and staff had that general vibe of “we’re too busy to be appreciative of your business.” Waitress never checked on us after dropping off our food and we were done for quite a while before getting our checks. Interior decor was a very cool vibe tho.

I love the Lansing location, so I was excited to try this one, but in the future it’s not where I’d pick for breakfast in GR. Too many other great options nearby that would have no problem with a very simple order of...
