TL;DR. Delicious, authentic Korean food. Friendly, attentive service. Must go for a taste of Korea in Grand Rapids!

We found Haludam five days into a road trip with my parents and aunt and uncle who immigrated from Korea in the 70s and always longing for Korean food for nourishment and comfort. Once we were seated, we were offered a hot cup of barley tea (보리차) which my parents, aunt and uncle really appreciated. Our party had Beef Short Rib Soup (갈비탕), Seolleongtang (설렁탕), Yuk Gae Jang (육계장), Hot Stone Bibimbap (돌솥비빔밥) and Spicy Stir Fried Squid (오징어볶음). All dishes were on point and delicious!! Our server even offered us refills on banchan (반찬)!! Our party would have loved to meet the mom and daughter duo running this place to let the know the food was amazing and to wish them great success with Haludam!

If we lived in the area, we would definitely be regulars. If you live in the Grand Rapids area or are just passing through, I highly recommend checking out Haludam for a tasty, nourishing and comforting meal that will transport...

By far the best Korean food I’ve ever had, and I bet I’ve been to every Korean restaurant in Michigan and metro Chicago. Bulgogi and the short ribs are hands-down the best ever. The kimchi too, we wanted to take a quart home with us! Everything was authentic and so delicious!

Service was top notch too. They were super friendly, and when we asked about gluten-free dishes, the head server even came out to make sure she had all the details on any allergies and was extremely thoughtful in giving us advice on different menu items (thank you!). They were prompt and thorough, but you never felt like they were trying to hurry you up. I would definitely come here for a date night or with my whole family.

And WOW the atmosphere!… They’ve clearly put a ton of thought and hard work into creating a best-in-class experience. The space blends all the features you’d expect from a high quality dining spot, with the cozy, familiar vibe of sharing a meal at home with close friends. We will 1,000% be coming back to Haludam every time...

I enjoyed my first experience with Korean food this weekend at Haludam and was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere at the restaurant was inviting, the lighting warm, and the staff friendly and educational. They took the time to help w menu questions as well as explaining the sides that came along with the meal.

We shared two apps for the table, beef gyoza and edamame, both of which were excellent.

My family got a few different meals, and all came out hot, were tasty and flavorful, and the portion size allowed for plenty of leftovers. My favorite was the spicy marinated pork stir fry, it was great. And my picky 2.5 year old niece loved her chicken fried rice!! The kimchi was also unexpectedly delicious!

All in all, a great experience for my first time trying Korean food! Looking forward to my next visit and trying some of the...

Probably the worst Korean food I’ve ever had. Aside from the dumplings, the side dishes were bad, we got just kimchi and a single tofu. I’ve never received that little banchan in my life. The soup also didn’t come with rice unless you paid $2 more. I’ve never experienced that before…when I order soup at other Korean restaurants, it comes with rice. The seafood pancake was so bland. it tasted like batter with green onions, and I could barely taste the seafood. I’ll give them props for the dumplings (in the soup and the gyoza) they weren’t bad. Not to mention how expensive the food was for the quality of it. 🤢🤢 Would not be coming back, I’d rather go to Seoul market…

I am new to Korean cuisine but just had to try it. The food was absolutely amazing we had the spicy beef, spicy pork and the rice cake along with a couple of appetizers and OH MY GOD it was all amazing! The LA ribs are to die for and the crab ragoons are legit 👌. The service was good, being new to Korean cuisine a little more explanation of how to eat each dish would have been helpful but we definitely figured it out. Only being open for 2 days i have no doubt the staff is new and as training develops the service will be top notch, not that it was bad by any means just a little refining is all. Definitely a 9.5 out of 10 on the must try scale.

My sisters and I wanted to try something new and this was a great place for us to do that. We’re all extremely picky eaters so it was awesome that we all liked what we tried! We had the bulgogi, beef fried rice, and spicy ramen. The sides they included were also great to try. I really liked the bulgogi and will be back for more! The amount you get for the price was also really good, and our food came out SUPER fast. The service was nice, and one of the ladies grabbed a fork for my sister and was super sweet and funny about it because we are learning how to use chopsticks. I’m very excited to go back again and try more.
