I visited Black Sheep Coffee on March 30th looking for whole beans to grind at home (French press girl here). I’d been overwhelmed by online options, so I decided to stop by and check out their selection in person. I waited to try the beans before writing this review—because I take my coffee seriously.. I didn’t go in with anything specific in mind, but I ended up buying the Robusta Revival Whole Coffee Beans (1 kg) and treated my daughters to anything they wanted on the menu. They were exactly what I was hoping for. The coffee is smooth, bold, and NOT BITTER at all (looking at you, Starbucks). When I ground the beans, I got that nutty aroma with a touch of cocoa—rich but clean. It smelled like quality beans before the water even hit the grounds. My daughters ordered the Nutella & Strawberry Waffle (5/5) and a Build Your Own Açaí Bowl (they gave it a 10/5). The space is bright, modern, and clean, with QR code ordering at the tables, charging outlets at almost every booth, and a self-serve water station. The staff were incredibly friendly—and special thanks to Faith for offering my girls photicular books, which kept them entertained and gave me a rare 15 minutes of peace to just sit, breathe, and not answer a single “Mom, look!” for once. Until I find a bean that tops this one, I’ll keep restocking—even if my bank account flinches a little. I haven’t decided if I’ll stick with Robusta Revival or try Love Berries next, but either way, I’m coming back. The price? A little bold—but so is the flavor. Let’s just say if coffee beans had a VIP section, these belong in it. Worth it. Other than that, it was a cute spot to spend some mother/daughter time. They suggested we make it our Sunday thing. Girls... get a job. Although, when it’s time to restock, we just might make it our thing.

Food, service, atmosphere. Those are the guidelines for reviews on google. Service is what it is. You order at a kiosk. The crew makes it, and you pick up at a counter. So basically no service is provided except making of the food and bev. I ordered a cappuccino and a bagel breakfast sandwich for dine in. I was given everything for to go. I guess I can take a hint. Coffee was good, bagel was soft but the inside was basically just an egg with cheese and a mystery red substance I'm still not quite sure what it's supposed to be. Both items came out to $20 after tip. Atmosphere isn't want I expect with a coffee shop. Yes it was busy, but it was loud, bright, and kind of hectic overall. Furniture was comfy. I think there's a lot of confusion on the customers part of what to do with dirty dishes. The staff was telling people to put them all on the same counter as the clean water glasses which is also quite confusing. They were just to busy to really take care of the issue. Place has promise, but if the goal is to be a quiet and cozy coffee shop, this isn't it. If the goal is the be a pump and dump high volume franchise to compete with Starbucks, then I guess it makes sense. Problem is, if you want to compete with Starbucks, you need to be alot better than this.

I made my way to Black Sheep Coffee in Grapevine and now I totally get the hype. This place is awesome! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, welcoming vibe. It’s got a chill, modern industrial atmosphere with plenty of seating, so whether you’re knocking out some work or just catching up with a friend, you’ll have no trouble finding a great spot to settle in. The coffee is next level—bold, smooth, and perfectly made. I had a latte, and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. You can tell they really know what they’re doing behind the bar. I was really impressed with how clean and well-kept the whole space was. Every table has an outlet, which is such a thoughtful touch if you’re working or need to charge up while you’re there. It's small things like that that really set a place apart. The menu has a ton of variety—something for everyone. But let me tell you, the Nutella waffle? Life-changing. Seriously, don’t skip it. Location-wise, it’s super easy to find right off Hall-Johnson and 121. Parking was a breeze, and everyone working there is incredibly friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back!

As someone who’s worked as a barista and loves trying new coffee spots, I was really excited when this location opened up. The menu is fun and varied, prices are mostly fair, and service is quick. I loved the matcha strawberries and cream waffle, and my go-to drink is an iced vanilla oat latte.

Today was my first time going inside, and I really liked the vibe. The interior is trendy and cozy—thoughtfully designed even though it’s looks built from mass-produced elements. There’s still a sense of detail and effort that I appreciate.

I’ve tried both drive-thru and dine-in, and both experiences have been smooth and pleasant. The staff are kind and efficient.

My only gripe (and this is common at a lot of coffee shops) is that every other drink I order tends to have a slightly burnt or sour espresso taste. From what I’ve observed (and tasted), I think this comes down to how the drinks are assembled. Their espresso is often poured over the milk and ice—which looks pretty with all the layers, but it can mess with the flavor if not done right.

If you’re someone who’s curious about coffee and wondering why that burnt or sour note shows up, here’s a quick breakdown: Espresso Sitting Too Long If a shot is pulled before the milk/ice/syrup are ready, it can oxidize and develop bitter or sour notes. Shots are best used within 10–30 seconds. Temperature Shock from Ice Pouring hot espresso directly onto ice can “shock” it, especially with light roasts, creating a sour or bitter edge. Over-Extraction or Burnt Beans If the espresso is pulled too long, too hot, or from over-roasted beans, it’ll naturally taste burnt. Order of Assembly Matters Poured-over espresso (like in “upside down” drinks) can create uneven mixing and flavor imbalance, especially if it sits on top.

Overall, I really like this place and plan to keep coming back. Just a little tweak for my fellow coffee nerds to consider!

*Editing my review to be a little less complimentary until I can come in here without every other drink tasting so burnt. The one I got today had the worst burnt flavor. They really need to train their baristas or whoever is working in the evenings on proper drink order- as in if someone orders a latte they need to make a latte, not an upside down latte or a starbucks style macchiato. Im not sure if its the company recipe or what but it really ruins the drink when you compare it to places that do it right. Even other lower quality fast food coffee places taste significantly better when they make the drink properly. I dont think I will be coming back for a little bit because it it such a bummer to pay for a beverage only for it to taste undrinkable. Having a bad apple every so often happens at any restaurant or cafe but now the amount of burnt lattes I have received outnumbers the really good ones I enjoyed here. The very first one I had was PERFECT and none of them have been as good since. I would much rather pay extra and lose the convenience of the Drive Thru and go to Buon Girono down the street instead since they can pull and make use of an espresso shot without it tasting insanely sour, burnt, and dark.

I think the management would benefit a lot from having coffee tastings so the staff can understand why their procedure makes a difference in the flavor. Im not sure who the manager is but if they read this I will be happy to update my review if they can have a little insight into why this is happening and if they are able to fix it? Otherwise I just wont come back for the coffee, which sucks cause I was super excited about this place opening. Im not trying to be picky or a Karen, I really wanna see this...

Leaving 3 stars because the sweet girl in the first window taking orders yesterday (my first time trying this place) was very nice and customer service was perfect. Even though she had to deal with a faulty order screen that continued to move, making it nearly impossible to read anything to place an order. She was polite and answered questions like she owned the place- it was impressive. There was nothing she didn’t know. The coffee was also good (once I finally received it 20 minutes later- I was one of 2 people in line.) let me say, the wait didn’t bother me, the screen not working properly didn’t bother me, I was patient and excited to try this new spot (I am a huge coffee lover). But I must explain my reasoning for the 3 stars while also acknowledging the staff is clearly young and there are learning curves here. When I finally made it to the 2nd window I was met with the most out of left field attitude from what I would assume is still a highschool student or early college aged kid. I mean truly caught me off guard, it’s almost comical. For a moment I thought is this their gimmick?! Kinda like a dicks last resort restaurant lol- if you know you know lol! Anyways, I had waited a long time behind the one and only other person in front of me (reminder) and the guy pops his head out and asks what I ordered. Then proceeds to tell me “we don’t have that” as if I had just sat in line for that long for fun. I initially tried responding politely but he continues to object and say- “idk unless your name is Sarah (or some other name) we don’t have it!” It’s almost comical because I couldn’t believe this was what I was being met with…it didn’t feel real 😂 so at this point I’m a little irritated as I also have my infant in the car. I admittedly had a little bit of attitude at this point (not at first) and objected and said- okay well then what did I just pay for at the last window? The kid goes “I don’t know!!” And shrugs his shoulders with this look on his face like- stupid lady 😂. But suddenly another young gentleman pops his head through the window with my drink in hand and says- so sorry someone must have bumped this off the screen I am so sorry. Which I appreciated a lot and saved the experience a little. My point is I know these kids are young and that’s why I was hesitant to leave a review, but I think they’d just greatly benefit from some extra customer service training. Because that was really wild 😂😂 I mean seriously I can’t help but to laugh a little about it now. I am EARLY 30’s and have never been treated more like a “Karen” in my LIFE and maybe that’s what offended me the most 😂

Also- if management is treating these young kids terribly (based on other reviews) then maybe reconsider your role as I can promise you the parents here won’t tolerate it for long. Better to just step down and get someone who is patient willing to invest in younger people, and establishing their customer service skills and...
