1st time visitors, greeting staff didn't seem to want to be there, didn't seem to care to assist people waiting. Dozens of empty tables yet every person I saw come up to the greeter was told it would be upwards of an hour to be seated. Despite the long wait, we stayed much to the disdain of the greeters. Asked for the bar area to grab a drink while we waited and they actually sent us back upstairs vs to the one just around the corner. Luckily the bar upstairs was quiet and the tender made a fantastic old fashioned. Best I've had. She (the upstairs bartender told us of the bar downstairs for more options outside of wine and whiskey) back down to the other bar lounge area, we sat and watched them once again look like they were trying to deter people from dining. Our reservation time came up and was told they would text us, they didn't, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, nothing my wife finally had to go up and ask to be seated for our reservation... Another 10 minutes goes by and they seat us... I'm actually ready to leave at this point. Absolutely unacceptable but we waited and it was too late to get a table elsewhere... Once seated, wait staff was polite, but slow, despite the lack of seated customers and tons of employees on staff. We both Ordered the special, scallops were under cooked, my filet was tiny and nearly well done for ordering medium rare. My wife's was easily double the size of mine and hers was cooked correct, odd 2 people can order the same thing at the se table and they allow 2 supposedly identical entrées to be served that couldn't be more different. We won't be back, you'd think a $200 plus meal for 2 would be a...

This place provides a unforgettable experience!! We took my two sons here for their birthday since it was the only steak house in the metropolitan area they had not gone too. And from the minute we graced the stairwell we were treated the way you would wanted to be treated in such a luxurious setting. The host was so sweet and curious in her greeting us by name and offer to take a picture to remember the boys birthday in a fashion that really made us feel she wanted to and not just because it was her job. The level of customer service here made us quickly wonder why were do not come here more often. The hour plus drive is well worth it for us now. Once we were seated Matthew took in where the host left off. And made sure to inform us on the menu and options for the evening. We all opted for the lobster bisque for a starters with east coast oysters on the half shell. Oyster were flown in today from Martha's Vineyard (per the Chef) and were amazing. Wife went with the Sea bass and raved about is and the presentation, myself and the boys all opted for the bone-in-ribeye, and we settled on the lobster mac and cheese and corn. All dishes were perfect. The chef treated us with his wifes cornbread ( normally not a big deal since I dont care or the boys for corn bread) but this is no ordinary cornbread....... its sweet, little spicy, and I dont know how to say this but almost desert like and seamed to evolve with each bite. Definitely recommend it. Matthew treated the boy to each a unique desert that left them with smiles. We will be back and want to thank you all for...

This could not have been a more perfect dining experience and if you get Steve as your server, expect beyond perfect service. He truly went above and beyond and was incredibly accommodating. We may live 3 hours away but will come back to have a dining experience like that again. Expect to pay a hefty price but it's worth every penny, if not more. We did go the more expensive route but I have no doubt their food would be wonderful at any price point on their menu.

What we had: Our children enjoyed the lobster (6yrs old) and med-rare filet (9yrs old). We've raised them to have a broad palate but they did have a variety of items to suit all kids tastes on the menu. We had a perfect Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned and a Texas Tea to start the meal. 2oz. Japanese Kobe Wagu- med rare (2oz. Is perfect for 2 to sample. It's very rich with so much marbling that I would honestly not need more.) 22oz Bone In Ribeye- med rare shared between 2 people (you can get a flight of sauces but they are unnecessary) Add-on Scallops (you get 2 but 100% worth the price) Whipped potatoes and habanero creamed corn (yes it's a bit spicy but delicious) For dessert, we had dark chocolate mousse which is an experience in itself with how it's served and Steve got creme brulee (not on the menu) for us and it was delicious. The dessert flight was great but the Inniskillin Vidal Ice Wine is the way to go (recommended by Steve).

It was truly one of the best dining experiences we've ever had and we owe it all the wonderful staff, Steve and everyone in the kitchen preparing the...

This was my first time ever visiting Hickory Steakhouse, very interesting place. There is a Whiskey Bar above the restaurant, very upscale looking place, however, the service was lacking. No one even asked to help us. My Girlfriend and I had just finished a wonderful spa day at Relâche Spa & Salon at the Gaylord Convention Center where the Old Hickory Steakhouse restaurant is located. There is an elevator and a flight of stairs that lead to the Old Hickory Steakhouse downstairs. When we arrived the hostess had not started seating patrons yet. We were third in line. It took us about 35 minutes to get seated, not a big deal because the atmosphere was beautiful. Our waiter seemed nice but it was his helper that made me feel better, about the mistakes to come. I have never had a $100.00 (see picture of the first steak) Steak before, I ordered mine medium well, it came more bloody then it should have. No problem, they replaced it without question. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese, and received, warm mac and cheese with no lobster. No Problem, again they replaced it with what we ordered. The food was awesome, but for $285.00 there should have never been any mistakes, especially ones that I had to wait for corrections to be made. I also want to let you guys know that we did not have Reservations. I say this so you can remember to make your reservations before coming. Also, do not forget to have them stamp your parking ticket.

Five stars for the service…three and a half for the food…and three and a half for the ambience/decor Let’s start with the star of the evening, the servers and staff were impeccable. My goodness, they go out of their way to make sure that you are fully pleased with your evening. Your water glass is never empty, and our waiter Joseph was delightfully funny and engaging. He was very knowledgeable about all of the dishes and answered questions with ease. The food was good, don’t get me wrong, there were some stars there, as well. We had the truffle fries (very good,) the wedge salads (STELLAR,) the scallops (would 100% get them again,) the filet mignon (was pleasantly fine, but really not rave worthy,) the Billionaire Baked potato (honestly worth every penny,) and the crème brûlée (was the worst I’ve ever had anywhere…it was undercooked and runny, completely unpalatable.) The decor is hit and miss. I personally loved the water glasses, such a beautiful weight to them. But the recessed light fixtures are filthy. Visibly coated in dust, the chairs were tattered and worn, and even the restroom had paper peeling off of the wall. If I ever stay at the Gaylord Texan again…I would probably only go to this steakhouse, if I were absolutely road weary, and wanted to stay in for the night.

Staying the Gaylord TX for a conference. I’m always up for a good steak place and Old Hickory definitely did not disappoint. The atmosphere and decor is perfect for TX: rustic, lots of leather, wood tones, and definitely a feeling of being on a ranch. Our server was just the friendliest; she was patient with our ordering and almost anticipated our special orders. Very accommodating. We ordered steaks big enough to share with those at the table: the Tomahawk, The Porterhouse, and the Cowboy. All big cuts of meat (and a deep dive in the wallet.) All presented a perfect medium. All were also served with various sauces (horseradish, blue cheese, and my favorite- Crème au Poivre.) The sides (mushrooms, mashed potatoes, asparagus Brussel sprouts) were also served family style and prepared to perfection. My favorite steak was the Cowboy: it was so soft and tender, it cut and tasted like butta! A close 2nd was the Tomahawk. Not quite as buttery, but the salt & pepper crust-char was amazing. The Porterhouse was also very good and nothing toss in the trash, by any means, but just didn’t have the ‘mmmmm….yeah!’ that the others had. Unfortunately, we were too full to have dessert. I will be returning to the Steakhouse tomorrow. I’m going to definitely save room for dessert.
