This was the worst experience I've ever had. I will say it was primarily created by the waitress. I was so upset by the time management came over, I didn't want to discuss anything. I just wanted my check and to leave. Let me preface this with, They did offer to comp it, but that wasn't my request. I had to ask the manager over five times for the check. This only increased my frustration as I'd already asked the waitress, supervisor, and a random waiter who was probably sent to smooth things over. The waitress didn't greet our table like she did all the others. She seemed rushed but only at our table. I watched her exchange pleasantries multiple times with other tables but not ours. We literally had five different people( I counted) to come to our table with different things...one with drinks, one with salsa, one with chips etc. . The drinks(flavored tea) were inconsistent. Waitress claims to have been making them herself and she was confused with why we had a problem with them. At one point my older son switched from a mango tea to a mango lemonade but he couldn't taste the mango and she took offense to that. Maybe because I had already let her know my appetizer wasn't right. My husband's raspberry tea looked the same as my toddler's mango tea on the refill; It was clearly a pinkish color the first glass. I was never asked if I wanted a refill. I was told our food was already in the window but the salmon "can't be rushed." It took an additional 7 minutes for us to receive our food. Keep in mind I put our food order in at the same time I put the appetizer in. The appetizer was received within 10 minutes (blanco queso missing the added beef as ordered) but they didn't bring any chips for it. The chips we had at that point was for the salsa which is not appealing in look but doesn't taste bad. I'm just not a fan. The guys liked it enough for one bowl to be half eaten. Another waitstaff member offered chips after our long awaited meal was being placed on the table. At this point, it's useless as the queso is cold and stiff. Two people that came in at the same time(my husband held the outside door and the other guy held the inside door) was finished with their meal and gone before we even received our food. A father and daughter that came in around 20 minutes after us had even received their meals before us. When the food did arrive it was cold as one would expect, as it had been sitting for over the 7 minutes that we were aware of. My toddler's "kidsadilla" was so cold when he tried to pick one slice up all the slices came up together. My food was literally room temp. Not slightly over or anything. My older kid's meal was also cold but my husband salmon that "couldn't be rush" was significantly over cooked. The combination of everything over that entire hour and to receive cold food is why we left without eating. I paid as some people think individuals only complain to get a free meal. It's a shame after years of hearing about this place and finally having a chance to be near one my excitement was quickly thwarted . Maybe your experience will better but I will not be returning.

The only reason this is 2 stars and not worse is because of the waitress Kimberly. When we went at 4pm today, the restaurant was a half full. Yet we needed to wait 15 mins to be seated. When we got seated, we got our drinks and ordered tableside guacamole. While the guacamole was being made by one of the managers, Kim took our order. From that point to the point food came to our table was 49 minutes. You might ask how do I know its 49? I got a text during order taking and I looked at the time stamp from that text to the time we received food. With a restaurant that is half full, 49 minutes is atrocious. We didnt order anything out of the ordinary, we got enchiladas and kids enchiladas, not shrimp or fajitas. Once we got the food, it was bland and ordinary, like something out of a bad food truck. The creamy hatch sauce tasted like it came from a can, as did the "new Mexico red sauce". The plate I ordered was the Coronado Pollo. Not worth 19 bucks, let alone 7. I don't know what the deal was with the kitchen, but the food was deplorable. It got bad enough that the table behind us with a middle aged couple decided to up and leave after having chips and had 2 alcoholic drinks. I don't know if they dined and dashed, but they did order food and I guess decided that they had waited long enough. For all the radio fanfare you get from some local stations, you would figure that this place would be delicious and hustling for the money you charge for mediocre food. If you want flavor and don't mind a little extra noise, go to Chuy's. Faster service, flavorful food, great portions for two-thirds the price. Ask for boom boom sauce. You won't be disappointed.

This was my first time here with my coworker. We came around 1:20pm and it was not busy at all. the atmosphere was perfect. We were seated quickly and the people who bring chips and salsa and water came quick, but that’s when it got weird. I would have actually walked out, but my coworker was really hungry and we were on a time crunch. We waited 15-20 minutes for our server who had walked past us a few times along with the managers who kept going to everyone who was already eating to ask if they were enjoying the meal ( they never came to our table to ask how we liked the meal like they did everyone else ) It felt ackward because everyone acted like they did not see us and even the lady at the table next to us was looking. Finally the server came. I decided not to complain because what’s the point when they knew they seen us and ignored us. The food was delicious which makes it a bummer that the customer service is what made me give lower stars. I had the carnitas street tacos and it was so good. So compliments to the chef. The two managers walking to everyone’s table should be ashamed to not ask us if we were ready to order after they seen us sitting there. It felt like we were being ignored and that’s not a good feeling at all. They avoided us like the plague. I seen other reviews that said the same about being ignored when it was not busy so not sure what is up. Please do better in the customer service department. I still left a tip (22% )even after being ignored for 15-20min

We moved from the Grapevine area early 2024 so we haven’t been to Uncle Julio’s since late 2023. I feel like I should have read the most recent 1-Star reviews, before choosing to have an early dinner here, on 07/20/25 The service, and the food was absolutely horrible! We arrived just after 5:00pm approx. 5:18pm they were not busy at all. They set us a party of only 2 people at the back near the fireplace. First chips and salsa the chips were cold, & we are 5 years past Covid… So why do we not have salt & pepper on the table. Our waiter looked like he was under a great deal of stress and was not as dutiful as Waite staff should be. We ordered queso Blanco, which was also cold and had a film across the cheese. This was brought to us by another person which we asked for a salt shaker and fresh chips. Because our waiter never came back. No saucers to spoon the queso onto or to even eat over as the bowl was placed in the middle of the table. We ordered Water with lime. We had to wait because they had no lime cut up. We never received small plates. After about 20 minutes, he finally returned to take our order. At this point, more people were coming into the restaurant. Not really sure what happened to our food, but we did hear a loud crash in the kitchen. Our waiter finally showed back up again to bring us more chips and hot sauce And more water. He said the food was coming up right then. But it did not another 15 to 20 minutes past. We had ordered the crab and shrimp, enchiladas, and the steak fajitas. Finally at 10 minutes after 6:00pm almost an hour after we had arrived our food was brought to the table. The fajitas were not sizzling. In fact, they were barely tepid. The seafood enchiladas were cold as was the plate that they were on. He failed to bring the sour cream and guacamole set up with the fajitas and had to go back and get one. The other thing also was people that had came in after us, were seated, catered to brought hot sauce, chips and their food and we were just sitting and waiting. At this point, I have had enough of this unpleasant experience and asked to speak to the manager. A female manager came to the table to apologize for the experience said that she wanted us to return and give them another opportunity to make it right. She ask what she could do and said that she would compensate the meal that we did not even consume? Which was confusing because the plates were untouched! She said she would be back with a gift card. After sitting there for a few more minutes, we actually got up and walked to the front of the restaurant where we were met by another Manager that proceeded to hand us a $25 gift card, which would not have even covered the price of the fajitas. I walked over and said to the female Manager that the entire experience was unacceptable and I have no plans to return to this restaurant ever. As I said, I should’ve read the reviews from The last year. What a...

My recent visit to Uncle Julio's was undoubtedly one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had. From the moment I walked through the door, it was evident that this establishment fell far short of its promises.

Let's start with the service, or rather, the lack thereof. The staff appeared disinterested and unmotivated, with no sense of urgency or willingness to assist. It took an eternity for someone to acknowledge our presence, even though the restaurant was far from busy. Our order was consistently delayed, and when the dishes finally arrived, they seemed hastily prepared. Charging us for rice and beans (a normal compliment to any meal at a Tex-Mex establishment).

Speaking of the food, it was a total letdown. The menu boasted an extensive range of options, but the execution was abysmal. The appetizers lacked any discernible flavor, and the main courses were bland and uninspired. It was evident that attention to detail was severely lacking in the kitchen. The ingredients seemed to be of poor quality, leaving us questioning the restaurant's commitment to serving fresh, quality meals.

To make matters worse, we decided to try one of their frozen drinks, which turned out to be a complete disaster. The drink was watery, lacking any distinct taste or balance. It was a blatant mismatch of flavors, and the shaved ice, mixed with syrup accentuated its shortcomings to that of an unpleasant snowclone. A disappointing frozen drink can often be overlooked, but this was undeniably unacceptable.

The final blow to our dining experience was the atmosphere. Instead of a warm and inviting space, the overall ambiance was far from pleasant. It was clear that little effort was made to create a welcoming and comfortable setting for guests to enjoy their meals with the ability of having a decent conversation while eating. The music was loud and interfering with any interaction we were wanting to achieve.

In conclusion, my visit to Uncle Julio's left me utterly dissatisfied. The combination of poor service, tasteless food, embarrassing frozen drinks, and a dismal atmosphere made for an experience I won't soon forget – for all the wrong reasons. I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking an enjoyable...
