Texas dinner theater was fun! We had never gone to dinner theater, so we had no expectations! The cast of actors were top notch! Talented and energetic too! I would say to be prepared for jokes and laughs galore! Arrive just after the doors open for the best parking. Parking is free, and we did not see any handicap parking in the area. They were nice and opened for us a few minutes early for my mom who has trouble getting around. My emails from them didn’t seem to have the QR code needed and that slowed down our check in. If possible take a screenshot of that QR code, have that ready on your smart phone, and bring your ID to check in. Parking is not on the side of the building you enter. The door is on the Main Street side. I put all the challenges we had in the notes on our tickets, but not sure those got to the manager anyway. Added a bit of stress for us given our situation, but they worked with us and we got settled in fine. There were loads of birthdays and anniversaries being celebrated in the audience and they do try to include everyone and give a brief shout out at the beginning of the evening. The show was interactive for sure. Actors rib and tease the audience members throughout the show. Sometimes even sitting on laps or hugging folks! Some humor was geared towards grownups only. I didn’t hear anything that would be offensive really and we were engaged and entertained the whole time. You are paying for the show and get to eat while you are there. The food was so-so, but that is not why you are there! Just keep that in mind. The bar was good, service was great and bathrooms were clean. Tips for the servers and actors are not included in your ticket price - you should bring cash for that. Beverages (with exception of iced tea and water) are extra. They will run a bar tab for you and you can add tips to that if needed. Some tables were communal seating, a private table is extra $40. Photos are okay after the show, no flash photos during the show. There is no stage. No bad seat in the house either! There were loud gun shots during the show and some shouting at times. So if you are sensitive to noise or have hearing aides take note. We had fun and laughed. It was a great night! Perfect way to celebrate mom’s 80th birthday! We’ll be back for sure! Take the time to get tickets ahead and put this on your must do list for your trip to Grapevine! We are so...
Read moreMy husband and I went for Valentine’s Day 2020. The prices were increased due to the holiday which I of course naturally expect, but I would like to think that the price increase would mean a much better experience. My husband and I were seated directly across from the door where they “brought the food in” (as we were told). There was a constant rush of cold air blowing in, making it extremely uncomfortable to sit for over two hours. Furthermore, every time the door opened there was loud dance music playing which made it extremely distracting to watch the actors. (Apparently there is a restaurant, “Chill” behind the theater where you can go to use the bathroom and I’m guessing this is where the music was coming from.) Additionally, we were seated at the very front of the room where most of the acting did not take place, making it very uncomfortable to crane my neck to watch for over two hours. In my opinion, if this is the case, seats should be priced accordingly, not all seats are created equal at this theater. My food was awful!!! My husband enjoyed his beef entree, but my “chicken cordon bleu” was so salty and peppery that I was unable to eat it. The dessert choices were a dry chocolate cake or cheesecake. The cheesecake had a gel-like strawberry topping on the side. For this price range, I just don’t think that the expectation of a few fresh strawberries is unreasonable. The gel just looked unappetizing and thrown together. The presentation and taste of the food were just unacceptable. I understand that we were paying more for the show than the food, but paying almost $200 for this is nauseating to me. Furthermore, an announcement was made during the middle of the show that gratuity was not included in the ticket price. It was also mentioned in the program. It just seems like this place is out to make money. I am so disappointed and wish that we had a completely different experience. I truly wish we had spent $100 on a fancy dinner at a find dining restaurant and then used the second $100 to see a show somewhere else. In my opinion, highly overpriced and overrated. Again, extremely disappointed. I hope people read this honest review and consider their options before spending so much money for...
Read moreYeehaw! Nicely done, Texas Star Dinner Theater. I had a wonderful time here for the Derailed and Departed show. I was smiling and laughing from the time I entered, until the time I left. The actors were excellent and were in character from the moment I arrived - that helped to quickly integrate into the story and theme. Everything was well organized and orchestrated (check-in, seating, food and drink service, and the group participation). Although this is a small venue, the production was professionally done and the quality was superb. I especially liked the unexpected group interactive piece to help solve the mystery. (I was grouped with a great set of couples that were very friendly. This added to the enriched experience.) This is a great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, detective promotions lol, and to just enjoy. This was extra special for me as it fed my mystery and intrigue of the unknown - I operate in the unseen worlds. My natural investigative and problem solving skills were exercised here in a fun way. (The art of listening/the study of body language/the reading of non-verbal clues/the art of seeing without using physical eyes/the art of asking questions.) I'm still strenthening and honing my craft and deduction skills but this adventure helped. Thank you!!
In the words of Columbo, actually there is one thing, one more thing actually. Shakespeare's, To Be or Not To Be, is no longer the question for the Lois case, correct? Only one Thing remains, and that is busting the case, since we have suceeded in getting through, yes? So now, Here I Stand, ushering in the arrival of a new set of questions for the Grimm case. One Thing, you both met in the garden, on Begonia Road, yes? Was this be cosby the Night Time Is the Right Time? And what time was that exactly? Did you notice any time loops while there? Well, I need your help, my report has missing and unaccounted for time that needs resolving on the Backside of Water. Give it a thought, Trip the Light Fantastic. Have You Seen Her - Lites? Or Has She Seen You? That's as much as I can ask for Her. Best Part, to close the case, as the greatest gift in life is seeing those...
