Certainly it is too soon to do a proper evaluation of this place, since it only recently opened. But so far so good, not great, but it may become great. First - the beer. It's good. I like their style as compared to say Old Republic. This beer has great body and flavor. I spoke with the brewmaster at some length and she certainly knows what she is doing. Good selection too, but I would like to see more big-bodied choices such as heavy stouts, bourbon barrel aged and the like. But the beer is good. And they do have a full bar if you aren't into beer. They could use a bigger selection of wines. Decor is nil, the place doesn't yet have its own 'personality', but hopefully that will come. Love the heavy walnut wood tables and bar! What's not to like? Parking is rough, they simply don't have enough. Yes you can park across the street at Grocery Outlet, at least at night, but if you've seen the scene there at night you might not want to. And I really would rather not have young children running around wherever I am trying to relax and socialize. OK so they want it to be a family place rather than a pub, but my preference is not to make it kid friendly. Which brings us to pool table - it should go. Takes up a lot of room and changes the feel of the place to something cheaper than it is. Oh, and they keep the place cold! Like wear a heavy coat cold. Don't know why. But so far the service has been good, the menu is good enough for pub fair and is of good quality (nice kitchen and pizza oven), and as I said good beer. So give it a try for sure, and hope it develops some local character, some personality of its own, some charm.

1849 is an amazing place to spend the evening. There's nothing like a delicious meal and great beer. I enjoyed their blends of beer. The service was impeccable for the dinner rush. I didn't wait longer than 10 minutes for anything including my hamburger. I was really impressed by the service. My favorite beer is called Gravity is Real. It's tasty and has a hint of chocolate. I like it because it's strong and is really good. For food we saw a lot of scrumptious pizzas so we ordered one of our own. I ordered the 1849er burger and absolutely loved it! It was juicy and plump, it had everything on it. A member in my group ordered wings that were seriously some of the best I've had. For beer I tried a lot of stuff and it all was awesome. One of the owner's favorites recommended to me was the Veinna Lagger. Awesome blend, nice and rich. I meant the creator of it while drinking and she was nice. Another favorite was the hazel. The whole place was covered in entertainment, games, pool, live music. I would recommend this place for a lovely evening with friends or a date night. Prices were great, very reasonable for high value food. The establishment was very Covid safe. There's markers on the ground and social distancing rules in place. You can wear a mask if you'd like. Groups are allowed to sit next to each other but have to be 6 feet away from other groups. I had yummy leftovers to bring home!

More than 6 house brews on tap from bland to sweet to bitter to sour with 5 to 8% alcohol. 'Stone'pizza oven is outdoors next to patio with gas heaters. Order at bar. Dogs welcome indoors and outdoors. Crowded indoors with no masks 3/26/2021 after 6PM. 7/2/2023 10 people in the bar. 11 beers on tap. Dogs allowed in AC'd tap room. Dark Side of the Moon is still dry and bitter, without tartness. Brat slices were >1/2" thick and either gray or black, depending on which side touched the grill. Sauer Kraut with Brat's were tart, sauteed, but still crunchy. Cauliflower 'wings' were soggy, not crisp. Onion rings were mostly batter.

Staying overnight in Grass Valley with other friends, our hotel recommended we try 1849 Brewing Company for a light dinner. Arriving at about 7:00pm on a Saturday night, we ordered our meals (burgers, pizzas and salads). After about 30-45 minutes our meals were still not delivered and no information as to why the delay. I requested from one of the servers to talk to the manager. After a few minutes, the bartender showed up and informed us that they were having kitchen issues and our order would be delivered soon. Since we had ordered beers earlier we did not need any more, even though Seth Duarte (bartender) offered complimentary wood drink tokens. The format here is self ordering at the bar for your food and drinks and servers would bring your food to your numbered table. I asked again why there was no supervisor/asst. manager or general manager on site (particularly for a normal) Saturday night; went without any response. We finally received our meals about 8:20 and since it was so late, we couldn't enjoy our meals and left. I cannot understand why the owner (Kevin K.) would allow his restaurant to operate with no one onsite to manage the kitchen, bar and serving staff to facilitate good customer service and a pleasant dining experience? We will not return to this establishment and relayed our failed dining experience to the hotel. Maybe in the future they might want to caution their guests and possibly suggest an alternative site for dinner to avoid a...

This was probably one of the worst brewery experiences I have ever had. The place is super cute and friends had been there and said it was good and kid friendly. The beer was subpar, the stout was way too bitter. It also took forever to get the beers. I got the 1849er burger, it was 14 dollars and didn't come with fries, it was awful. Bitter and flavorless. I let the server know at the end and she was apologetic and said we should have said something but we never saw her after our food came. We had to get our own waters and ketchup. Its definitely not a fancy place and on a Friday afternoon you'd think it would be ok to have kids there. The server directed our kids to a bag of blocks to play with. We sat as far away from others as was possible. Every few minutes the boys would get a little loud and one of us would go and talk to them and make them settle down. At one point an owner/Brewer came over and offered to put the blocks away extremely condescendingly which basically meant that she was tired of the kids playing. As far as I know they weren't bothering any other patrons, and another super sweet server,(not our server) Beth had remarked on how great they had been. I get they are just opening, so the food and beer we could give it another try, but the unwelcoming attitude and condescending nature of someone who is in management is not something we can look past. We will not be back, especially when places like Ol' Republic and...
