Beach Hut Deli — Restaurant in Grass Valley

I've always liked the food at Beach Hut, but they have serious issues right now in Grass Valley. I placed my order online because the phone was "busy" for 15 minutes as I tried to call it in. I didn't have time to wait around. Then I get the email...the store staff isn't accepting your order, please call them. I tried calling, still busy. I got to the store about 20 minutes after initiating this online order- which was supposed to be ready in 30 minutes, according to their website. They took way too long to acknowledge me, and when the staff member finally came up and I explaind about the phone issue and that I had ordered online, did she put me ahead in the line? No, she did not. I was at the back of the line of the 10-12 people sitting in the restaurant waiting for their food. I was the last person (basically) to walk in and 35 minutes later was the last to get my food. I saw 2 of the people get refunds and leave during my long wait. The worst part about waiting 35 minutes for my food (an hour from placing my order) was that there were 5, yes FIVE people back there preparing the food and it took over 30 minutes for them to prepare approximately 10 orders of salads and sandwiches. I'm an Operations Manager, so I did the math. That's almost THREE man hours to put out 10ish orders (yes, some were for two, but really...) of salad and sandwiches. They are looking for staff, but they had 5 kids back there, that should have been sufficient. Just to put a cherry on top, they used an avocado in my sandwich that was so hard it was inedible, and the bacon was burned and hard and practically broke my tooth. I would have brought it back to complain, but honestly, I couldn't take any more time off of work for lunch! I will not...

Very large and tasty sandwiches, but are pricey.

My favorite is the sunrise, bacon ham, and swiss cheese. Unless prompted, the staff will make the sandwich in a standard way. So if you don't want mayo, onions, greek peppers, or other ingredients, then you will want to communicate that.

Before noon, it is not so busy. Afterward, it picks up. So you may want to put in your order online or by phone.

Not only is the food terribly overpriced and not well prepared.....but the staff is SO RUDE. Stood in an empty line for SEVERAL MINUTES before someone finally walked up from the back to greet me AFTER they finished their conversation with their coworkers. To make matters worse, they were out of regular drink cups so they charged me FULL PRICE for a water cup which is only a fraction of the size. Unbelievable. I will never waste my...
