Tavern On The Hill — Restaurant in Green Township

Let me preface by stating that this is a SLOWER bar, and for an older crowd. Those expecting immediate table flips, food runners, and beer slinging will be sorely disappointed. In exchange, be prepared to sit and stay awhile. Their staffing is limited but VERY attentive when given the opportunity. Not to mention friendly and down to earth. Those looking for a pushy waiter will be better off looking elseware. Instead I would comparatively call this an introverts bar. You can walk right in, sit at your favorite spot, and to some degree disappear in privacy unlike other bars. On the other hand, if you want a drink immediately then order at the bar and open a tab, take your drinks back to your table and chill. If you are hungry then the grill is pretty accommodating. Expect usual bar affair with some good dishes and some not so good dishes. Food is NOT their specialty but they have carved a pretty good niche with the average clientele and I wouldn't hesitate to order some snacks, just be prepared to wait as this is less a restaurant and more a bar. What awards this unique watering hole it's stars is it's location and stellar covered patio with fire pit and plenty of lookout spots. The newly erected outdoor seating also grants an awesome elevated view of the highway and roads below while also keeping you hidden behind ample shade. The beer is also tasty and they have some adventurous selections like Tafts Gavel Banger on tap unlike other bars in the vicinity. Overall, give this place a chance but also be prepared to spend some time there and enjoy the views, brews, music and people watching, all at a reasonable price. If I could leave 0 stars I would. We were told they had a kids menu, and that drinks were included, then we found out several minutes later the only choice they had was chicken fingers and fries for a kids menu. It took 20 minutes to get our drinks and place our dinner order. Once our food started coming out i about 20 to 30 minutes later t was spread out over a 15 minutes time frame. With 4 out of our 7 orders being incorrect. Then the server brought us some wrap that she didn't know where it went and left it at our table. This was by far the worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant, and we will not...

The view is nice and the patio is wonderful to sit on. However, the service is sub-par as is the food. The server spent most of the time at the bar chatting with the bartender. I ordered a hamburger medium and what came out was very well done. The first order of french fries were quite overcooked, but at least freshly cooked french fries were brought out to us. My friend got the fish sandwich and the fish fillet was 60% bread 40% fish at best.
