I went out to lunch with 3 of my siblings to celebrate the birthday of our youngest sister. It took 3 requests to 3 people at the entrance to be seated in the outdoor dining area. The wait for our server was more than expected considering how not busy they were... maybe they need more servers. The bottom part of the bun for my chicken sandwiche was very soggy and greasy and fell apart as I was eating it. There's no way I could have added either of the 2 sauces provided... it was already mushy enough. My fingers on both hands up to the first knuckle were messier than I've ever experienced... anywhere. The flavor was just okay. I have had much better sandwiches at Wendy's!! The chicken covered only 2/3 of the bun, nothing like the photo online. I requested fresh fruit for my side... which was not very fresh. The blackberry & 2 small pieces of strawberry were good. The huge chunks of pineapple were white, hard & no flavor. The oranges were dry & mushy. This fruit should have never been served. The cost of this simple & unsatisfying meal was $18.99, pluse tax & tip. I've worked many years in food service, for the Club & Field level suites and for the Gehl Club at Miller Park, and in catering for Pandl's in Bayside, WI. I know about food prep... and quality. They need to train their people better. My birthday sister had the gnocchi with squash. Very little squash... only shreads were in her bowl. She also had a cup of coffee... she said it tasted like instant coffee... sad. My other sister had the gnocchi with chicken. She let me try 1 gnocchi because I was curious as to if they were made in house. The consistency was more like packaged & the flavor was meh. I have had much better gnocchi at Olive Garden... the chicken gnocchi soup! Numm!!! I also make my own gnocchi with dried potato flakes, so I know it is very easy! And very tastey! That sister also had a cup of the crab & lobster bisque. She said it was very salty, but otherwise good. My brother had the pretzel pork chop. It didn't look too appetizing, just a bunch of tannish colored food on his plate, but he said it was good. Overall, we spent over $100 for the 4 of us to eat lunch. And I was still hungry... so was my birthday sister. Next time we'll go back to The Olive Garden or Panera... maybe Qdoba or Kopp's... even the hotdog place down the road has better food & prices! Also... whoever designed the Cooper's Hawk in Greenfield, WI did not consider how noisy Layton Avenue is. We had to talk above the noise of loud cars, trucks & motorcycles. If the dining area was on the other side, at least it would be muffled somewhat by the building. I did call & left a message for customer service to call me about my experience. No call back. I called again the next day & spoke with a young woman who did not really give a hoot about any comments I made. She tried to pacify me with her ohs & tiny apologies, but I know my concerns will not make it back to the staff at the restaurant to try to improve things. Well... at least I did my part & let my thoughts be known. Keep this in mind... just because it looks fancy doesn't mean it has good food. I just read a bunch of reviews and in a couple truffles for your birthday was mentioned. We told our server a couple of times that it was our sister's birthday. She didn't offer her any truffles. Very...
Read moreMy visit to this CH on 9/14 was disappointing. My first trip to a CH was in Brookfield. Excellent. I’ve also been to the CH in Wheeling, IL and Gurnee, IL. I frequent the Gurnee location most often.
I can’t afford to eat at CH often but my family loves it and we come when we can. Enough where it makes sense to be wine club members.
This visit was our first to the Greenfield location and we were celebrating a bday. Here’s a quick scoop of the lowlights.
Reservations at 3p on what appeared to be a slow afternoon. We arrived early and weren’t seated till ten after. Drinks and bread weren’t on the table until a quarter to 4. Brought the kids drinks without tops and straws (said she couldn’t find them) Wine delivered to the table and unopened until food came. No table touch between the time we received bread and the time our food arrived. We have two kids. Come on now. I had to flag a host for a second bun of the pretzel bread. had to flag server down for refills for the kids. Brought tops this time. Thanks, but it just highlighted your unwillingness to find them beforehand. Bill came without the birthday credit.
After the meal, my family heads to the family restroom. I’m standing in the lobby awkwardly holding three to-go bins. A gentlemen (possibly a manger) sees me and asks if I’d like a bag. Thank you, I absolutely would like a bag. The man asks how was your visit, I purposely say “just ok.” He says great come back and see us again.
Look, I don’t need to feel like king Henry walking in, but my takeaway from all that was that this franchise, Coopers Hawk, that is recognized in my household as our favorite place to go is not always going to provide the same experience from location to location.
My thoughts based on my experience is that the folks at the greenfield location don’t care about the impression they make on their visitors, they have no appreciation for the additional money being spent by wine club members, and certainly don’t hold themselves to the same high standards that we have become accustomed to after visiting the other locations (Gurnee most frequently).
Look, the food was good as it usually is. But we fell in love with CH because of the entire experience. That experience we’ve come to love was not on display last Sunday. I’d drive the few additional minutes to Brookfield or if you are somewhere in between Gurnee and Greenfield like we are (Racine) just go to Gurnee.
I have ALWAYS left Cooper’s hawk thinking “money well spent,” “great service,” “can’t wait to go back.” I left this one thinking, “Nah bruh, yall won’t see me again.”

Read moreWe visited on opening day, so I’m giving this a 5-star review based on both our experience here and our many great visits to the Brookfield location. We’re absolutely ecstatic that Cooper’s Hawk has opened so close to home, and we’ll happily update this review after a few more visits—but for now, here’s a recap of our first night.
As expected for day one, there were some bumps, and we came in with patience knowing the team was still finding its rhythm.
The host stand team was welcoming and tactful when we arrived early for our reservation. They kindly suggested we try samples at the bar while we waited, which we did once a spot opened up. The gentleman behind the tasting bar was knowledgeable, personable, and gave us great recommendations. He struck a perfect balance between engaging and giving us space to enjoy. (I wish I caught his name—he had longer hair tied back and wore glasses. He mentioned he’s been with Cooper’s Hawk for quite a while, and it showed!)
We were seated promptly for our reservation at a table for two, nestled between a few other parties, which allowed us to overhear some mixed guest feedback. As is often the case with brand-new openings, the team was still settling in—from the kitchen to the bar to the servers—and it definitely showed. That said, the food was very good, the drinks were lovely, and the ambiance was beautiful.
One major bright spot was our server, KeAysha. She was upbeat, professional, and warm throughout. While timing was definitely off behind the scenes, she never let it show and handled everything with grace. Once the internal flow smooths out, I think she’ll truly shine as part of the team.
We did notice some other staff visibly flustered—which, again, is understandable on such a high-pressure night. Nothing arrived quickly, and glancing into the kitchen confirmed things were a bit disorganized. But despite all that, we enjoyed ourselves—the food, the atmosphere, our server, and the stunning interior design (seriously, major kudos to the design team!).
If you’re not up for a little wait or opening-week quirks, I’d suggest giving them a few weeks to settle in. But I have no doubt this location will hit its stride soon. Yes, it’s on the pricier side—but that’s consistent with other Cooper’s Hawk locations and the overall experience.
We’ll be back soon, and we’re so glad to have this beautiful new spot right in our...
