So I’ve been coming to Lychee Gardens since the early 80s!! sad that there’s no more buffet… I drive all the way from West Bend just to get their vegetable fried rice; on may occasions! Last night, I thought I would bring a couple of friends that I only see a couple times a year to lie to Lychee Gardens to experience what I’ve experienced in the past!! it turned into a nightmare!!! the waitress acted like she was our friend like butting in on conversations!she must’ve come to the table like 12 times but never for anything for us! one time for water! She putted around our table touching, removing, whatever it was it was so irritating I was going to eventually say something!! she’s asking us our names! She barely could speak English. Anyways, one of us ordered the vegetable fried rice. She was totally content with that and she did a side of white rice and the waitress is questioning her when she’s asking for the side like why you’re getting fried rice why do you want white rice and in my head I’m thinking why are you asking her? Just take the order!!! another friend ordered a spring roll and pork lo mein! She had a choice of white rice or fried rice or something else oh it was Chinese noodles & the waitress literally argued with her for five minutes about what she was ordering and whether she could have that fried rice on the side or white rice!! it was ridiculous!!! when it came. It looked like chop Suey and the eggroll was overdone, she never ate any of it!!! She took a taste of her spring roll & pushed it away! and I ordered shrimp, sub gum, and an egg roll. My eggroll look like it had been laying around for days and then they refried it. It tasted horrible. I was getting raw eggroll skin in the middle. The shrimp sub gum was horrible just to look at …let alone taste. It had no flavor at all. Presentation is everything… but Lychee did NOT meet the standard!!! TALK ABOUT DISSAPPOINTMENT!!! I’m putting it mildly. It was beyond disappointing.!!! my one friend said what are you gonna tip and I just shook my head no so I don’t know what she left and my other friend cause she’s nice about everything and was OK with all the interruptions all the arguing and everything she probably left her a decent tip!! after all these years that I’ve been going there I would never ever go back again!! I feel like the money we spent, which was well over $75 was a complete waste of money!!! somebody needs to tell that waitress to just do her job and that the customer is always right!!! Completely sorry to have put my friends through this night!!! I couldn’t apologize enough!!! I should’ve paid for their meals, but I didn’t!!!
Lychee…. You need to up your step.!!! I can’t believe anybody who comes in. Here is actually happy with their food unless it’s the vegetable fried rice which I order all the time and so they haven’t messed that up at all but the rest of the food… your lucky I gave you two stars. Everything was just plain MUSH!!!! I should have taken photos of my friends LoMein that look like chop Suey… and all the eggrolls that look like they were old and burnt!!! SHAME ON YOU!!! it’s like you...
Read moreI'd like to highlight Bernice. She is a delight in every sense of the word. In the past, I'd order spring rolls, thinking they were vegetarian. After I ordered my other food, specifically asking about vegetarian components, she took the extra initiative to relay to me that the egg rolls were actually vegetarian, so I was able to switch my order! Even within a seemingly "mundane/routine" interaction, Bernice warmed my heart. I will spare the details here, but...Her light shines! Bernice, please continue to be bold & expressive in your gratitude & when you are joyful. For when you do, it makes other hearts shine, too. :)
Regarding the food, it was yummy! Friend said the customer service when picking up the order was good.
I only deduct a point because I loathe Styrofoam containers, plastic utensils & plastic bags & condiments without being asked if I want them. You can ask if people need bags before automatically giving. You can even have your own reusable bag that can double as a grocery bag! Often, customers don't need the extra utensils/napkins/sauce, etc., because they are heading home & already have the utensils & napkins. Not including these items is also a cost savings to you :) The sauce should ALWAYS be request only because it is such a waste (how many people of drawers of sauce?)(You could remind them when they place or pick up orders or before putting on table that it's request only to help the environment & your costs :)
You could offer & encourage reusable containers for your regulars (scoop things into their containers & you don't have to worry about contamination). And please switch to paper to-go containers. I'd be happy to pay more for my food if I meant I was helping the environment & the lil extra enabled you to buy more eco-friendly options for utensils, containers, bags, etc.
I know I shared a lot, but it is to hopefully spark a desire in you. You all could be the start of something great by implementing these practices! It's time we start caring more about the environment & our impact...for all the cute children &...
Read moreThe only place I really like to get chinese food from around here. We live in oak creek, and even tho we have a couple Chinese food places down the street, I'd drive the extra 15 min to get our food here. We usually get the Chicken Hong sue, shrimp fried rice, beef broccoli and egg rolls, all to go. My chicken is always crispy and extremely hot, egg rolls are some of the best I've had, also hot and crispy, and deep brown, just how I like them. Shrimp fried rice is some of the best I've ever had. Beef broccoli is good, the steak is good quality steak, on occasion a tiny bit salty, but then again, it's Chinese, I expect the sodium to be high. We've eaten at the buffet b4, and some of the dishes can be hit or miss, but we still enjoy it most of the time. Plus, if you're really wanting to binge and be a fatty, you can go to Kopps across the street right after.
Edit 4/9/22: I updated their rating to 5 stars just on management alone. I've never been treated with so much care before, Jan is so wonderful, she will make sure to fix anything and make sure you leave happy. After so many times ordering here, we asked for shrimp egg rolls, which we usually do (or so we thought, maybe we haven't and didn't notice?), but there is a major difference in their regular egg rolls, and higher price. Their regular pork mixture egg rolls are the way to go for us. The shrimp ones might be up your alley if you like lots of vegetables, including green peppers and I think dried shiitake mushrooms, mixed with shrimp. We ordered 10 egg rolls because we love them so much, figured we'd freeze the rest for later. There was no mistake on their part at all, just a confusion on our end, but still they remedied the situation and left us happy costumers who will keep coming all the way from Racine now that we've...
