Not the same old Chicken Tikka Masala and a few pieces of dry tandoori chicken on an artificially sizzling platter, the buffet at the Indian Village Restaurant is a delight and offers opportunities for experimentation with flavors from all over the Indian sub continent. The popular lunch buffet offers a diversity of tastes not often seen at other, rather ubiquitous, buffets that are common throughout the West with curries that taste the same no matter where you try them. The lunch buffet rotates dishes regularly with representation from regional Indian specialities from the North, West, East and South in all menu categories. The Village introduces uncommon variety. For example, the menu offers four different types of goat curries and twice as many chicken curries (including Tikka masala). There are 14 different types of Indian breads. Everything is made with fresh ingredients, customizing the flavors and heat on demand. Absolutely wonderful selections for vegetarians, vegans or gluten challenged. If you have a special need or requirement, let the manager know. They will do everything possible to accommodate. The dining room is small and ambiance rather simple, but you are made to feel welcome the moment you step in. The staff seems to work as a team to help you have a great experience. If you are not into a lot of heavy dishes, make a meal out of their appetizers, many of which are "street food" (dhaaba) classics. They offer a glimpse into dishes often missed in the West. Alcohol choices are limited but adequate. Several uniquely Indian beverages are available. Indian masala chai is included in the buffet, as well. If it matters to you, all their dishes are prepared with halal ingredients. You may come to this restaurant for the taste of authentic India but would likely return because of service and welcome that...
Read moreI and my friends had a very bad experience at this restaurant. Neither the food nor the service was good. We ordered samosas for starters which had oil literally dripping from them. The curries we had ordered were cold and had lumps of chilly powder in it. Assuming it was just added and not mixed properly. The waitress was very rude and was banging the dinner ware when we asked to clear the table to make some space. There were flies nearby the food and the surroundings were untidy. We had to wait for 10 mins to get someone to take our order even though the place wasn’t crowded. There was literally just one another table with 2 people having their food. I’m just getting started on ambience. There was a continuous utensils banging sound from the kitchen which was pretty loud.we were ready to leave at this point and requested a check and we tipped about 6% and now the waitress started blackmailed us. She was literally like you have to tip 20% and she lives on these tips. We told we didn’t enjoy the ambience or food and we don’t want to feel obligated to tip more. She told these exact same words.. “ we are required to add 20% as gratitude tip and I didn’t add them coz I thought it was not fair and now you have to match that 20% or else I’m going to add it myself”. I did not like being threatened in that way. If I genuinely enjoy and service and food I would be willing to add a generous tip. She cut us off when we explained this and said you are fine you can leave. Like seriously…. I have never had such a bad experience with any restaurant before. The management needs to seriously look into this. Also, the food is terrible. No offense but a frozen meal from Trader Joe’s tastes much more better than what we had. To other non Indians there are better Indian restaurants with good food and service.. kindly stay clear off...
Read moreI moved to Wisconsin from Illinois (Chicago) this past winter. I quickly noticed the differences in food. There is a plethora of GOOD food options in and around Chicago. Indian, Chinese, Thai, Hotpots, Jamaican, African, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Puerto Rican and more. Not so much here in Wisconsin. But hey “to each his own”. I just have a different flavor palate. I like unique, distinct flavors. I’ve tried several Indian spots since I’ve been here. I Love Indian food or should I say GOOD Indian food. The first 3 Indian spots I tried were Meh. I pretty much gave up because I was literally wasting money. But two weeks ago, I ordered out for my kids. They are basic burger and fry kids. I figured I’ll try ONE MORE time. Guys…. I’m so glad I did. I now have a “go-to”. Lamb Saag, Chicken Tikka Masala, Gobi Paratha and that Dal Soup. Y’all I woke up one morning and drank the soup for breakfast….Cold. I honestly plan on trying EVERYTHING on the Menu. I have been ordering from this restaurant every week since I tried it. Today I decided to do a pick up order. And yall I cannot wait to come back to dine in. The two employees that I spoke with were very kind. Decor and cleanliness of the restaurant was on point. Hey if you’re looking for good eats please try this restaurant. Very Tasty. Try the four items I mentioned first and you’ll see. You will be just like me contemplating what I’m going to try next. Indian Village Restaurant, I will see...
