Edited review 8/13/22: Pls note no cake was served. We brought our own cake and knife to cut it. The staff was busy with the other table and we constantly had to request them. We also tipped each staff discreetly as we knew the owner would take their tips away. We requested to play birthday song which they did. We are not talking about other team members as they did what we REQUESTED them but the owner who constantly without our permission put extra on our bill. My family was annoyed of him and his pushy tone constantly. We pity the staff. And no one left phone number. He asked me for mine which I gave. Greedy owner! As for showing on bill. $16.99 x 6 is $101.94-biryani
Original review: Total RIP OFF PLACE. I WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. It will be a detailed review, so please excuse any typos as I will not go back to edit all I am about to write. Also, pls look at other bad ratings as well; apparently owner, Shahzad, likes to call everyone a liar for speaking the truth. I called two-three days before to make a booking for Sunday for 20 people. Ten kids, ten adults. I also called and requested to order a full tray of biryani ahead of time. Upon arrival, the owner said we could either bring the full tray and put it on table or we could serve that tray ourselves for "extra bucks" and convince us to have them serve us. Then we ordered two full grill platers where the owner was constantly in sales pitch was telling me two won't be enough and we should order more, upon hesitation I told him to add one more. Then he still persists that 3 won't be enough and we should order more. Each platter had 6 pieces. Crazy! Please note our family of 20. We are all petite people and barely eat that much. Then he asked if we wanted naan, I said sure, we will get 4 naans, but he AGAIN said 4 wouldn't be enough I will do 6. We said fine. Then he said order more for the kids, I said I know our kids well they won't eat that much. He said to order nuggets, and he then said I would get 4 nuggets. In the constant sales pitch, he added random stuff to our order. My whole family was ANNOYED of him. On top of that, when we arrived, they put 20 water bottles which we thought were on them, but for those $4/36 pack bottles) He charged us $20. Then came to soda I said to bring six cans of soda as we don't drink soda. He said I would bring 4 Pepsi 4 sprint four coke, and he proceeded to get all that without our permission. Please note the full tray of biryani is usually $130, as we have done catering from them previously multiple times. At the time of serving came small tiny six plates of biryani. There was a lot of leftovers at the end. We thought he might be bringing the biryani from the tray we ordered, but he separately charged us $16.99 for each biryani. When I asked where is the leftover of biryani, he brought us two containers half filled with biryani which he also charged. Fourteen orders of samosa $55.86. 3 platter combo $83.97, nasty mutton Kari $24.99, $20 for water bottles, four kids nuggets for $59.96, and $17.88 for 12 cans of soda. In the end, he added $78 service charge. Upon us mentioning biryani and water bottles, he said I would give you a $30 discount on your next visit. Like no thanks. The owner, Shahzad, is a total rip-off. Our total bill was $539. This is insane. Pls, note us a family of 20(10 adults ten kids often go out to eat, and never have we had that much bill). He forced and imposed unnecessary food items on us. I can't believe why these "Pakistanis" are mostly always a RIP-OFF. They should be ashamed for calling themselves Muslim and for ripping people off. My parents also own a restaurant and mostly DO NOT charge people for water bottles when the bill crosses a certain amount, which is mostly $50-60. A lot of food is leftover. The owner was rude, and I hope he learns his lesson one day. He’s a weirdo and I’m afraid he be giving my parents bad reviews as he asked what is our restaurant name. Creepy dude. Attached is the receipt for...
Read moreI tried this place for the first time 5 months ago. Today I visited it for the second time and found it even better!!! As a born and raised person in (Lahore) Pakistan, I can verify that their recipes are authentic Pakistani Cuisine. Food was great!!👍👍 Everything I tried was awesome!! Palak ghost ( Spinach and Mutton Curry) was cooked to perfection. The meat was juicy, tender and flavourful and the spinach was perfectly seasoned. Also got the special Pakistani Breakfast, potatoes and chick peas were soft, well cooked and perfectly seasoned. Paratha, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan and Puri were cooked to perfection. Hot, crisp, light weight and flavourful. All the cravings for typical, traditional Pakistani food from back home were satisfied 🇵🇰 A huge thankyou to the Chef Lady, so grateful that you decided to open up this place. Keep up the good work❤️ Their staff is very polite and courteous.
I'm looking forward to come back and try their Beef Nihari and Kunna Matka ghost, I'll have much higher expectations, as its much harder to get these dishes right. Will also try their biryani.
Things I found better than last time:-
• It was nice that they had 2 extra servers/staff this time that were available to serve/take orders and payments in dining area all the time. Rather than just one lady going back and forth between kitchen and dining area.
• I found their dining area to be more organized and cleaner than last time.
• The servers were doing a good job at cleaning up and wiping tables after people leave. But they still need to increase their cleaning standards, one of the glass panel at the front window was very dirty, had a lot of fingerprints and hand marks, this should be paid attention to and cleaned properly as people see this stuff while eating. Bathrooms need to be more clean and/or remodeled and have more light.
Things I wish they update or add:
• Remodel their bathrooms, add stalls and diaper changing areas.
• Although they had child seats, it would be nice if they had booster seats to go on top of regular chairs.
• Soda fountain and refills. That's one of the biggest attraction for me when dining in to have drink refills, its quick and easy.
• Nice seating furniture, also on the outside patio.
• Get rid of the Room divider screens infront of Restrooms and random kitchen supplies stored around it.
• It makes the space look very tight and tacky. All of the kitchen stuff should be stored away in cabinets inside employee area.
• There should be more wall art in dining area, representing different cities and cultural diversity of Pakistan.
• All staff should wear some kind of uniform Shirts/Aprons so that when customers walk in, they don't confuse other guests with staff.
• It'll be more convienient if people who choose to dine in, are brought their checks to their table by servers after they are...
Read moreI ordered the butter chicken, paneer karahi, and a couple different types of naan.
The portions for the curries were surprisingly small for the price. Other Indian restaurants I go to give huge containers with three times the amount and charge less. What was really shocking is that the curry doesn't even come with rice... I've never heard of any Indian restaurant doing that. There's no warning on the menu or when ordering, either. You're just expected to cough up another $5 for a side of rice on top of your near $20 curry. I had to make my own rice at home...
The butter chicken was pretty average. I bit thin and very oily (buttery?), barely sweet, and surprisingly spicy. I guess I prefer it to be a bit sweeter.
The paneer karahi, well... After looking at their menu again, I can only assume they gave me chicken karahi instead, which I didn't have any interest in (wasn't what I ordered and didn't like it anyway). It was just a container of what seemed like oil, a ton of bones, and some chicken. When I tried to call them about the mistake, they wouldn't answer the phone (about 20 minutes until closing). When I called again the next day, all the manager did was argue with me that they didn't have paneer at the time. Obviously that's no excuse for substituting my order to something else entirely, but he offered no consolation besides that and just hung up. He called again hours later... to argue more... and insist I actually did order the chicken karahi after all.
Look, I understand misunderstandings happen, but what's the point of arguing with customers like this afterward? When I originally called to order, I was asking about the two types of paneer curries and chose the tomato-based one. With this context, it shouldn't have been possible to get chicken karahi instead since there is no chicken karahi that has anything to do with tomatoes... I don't even like bone-in chicken, let alone digging through bones in a curry, so I had to just throw it away.
I shouldn't even need to say this, but needlessly arguing with customers is beyond unprofessional, especially when a restaurant goes out of their way to continue arguments later. I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish with this, but I guess the customer is always wrong at Peshawar. Guess I'll go back to Indian...
