Update 04/2025 - increased stars from two to four. Would go with a solid 3.5, if that was an option.
Let me start out with a very positive note because people should be told when they are doing something right. I have never, not once, received an incorrect order from them. Never an item missing from my order. I can walk in and grab my bag and trust that everything is in there. This as opposed to when I visit some of the very basic fast food restaurants around here picking up an order for a family of five who are big eaters. At the other restaurants, there's almost always at least one item missing from my bag and I literally have to check my bag in totality at the drive-thru window every single time. The one time I don't do it, a whole entree is missing. I applaud this facility for that.
I do not order anything with beef in it. Simply can't trust it after that one visit, though that probably isn't fair. That might have just been a bad beef purchase or an anomaly. I'm serious about my dollars though, so, once burnt...
Came here again after needing some clear soup during and post illness. My family ordered other items. And overtime continued to come back for some of those tried and true items. Currently, find myself here once a week or so. Chicken wings are still pretty good. Been enjoying egg foo young and absolutely love their new tofu and vegetable soup and I get it often. Lo mein (chicken, shrimp, pork, veggie) is pretty good. They can be a bit on the greasy side with some foods, at times. I bring my egg foo young home and immediately throw in a few absorbent paper towels and flip the container upside down. Otherwise, the bottom two patties will be swimming in oil. And I have experienced some lumpy egg foo gravy.
But, if you know which items to get, they're not a bad option and they don't overcharge like many, especially on the west side of Greensboro and some in High Point, where I work. They're pretty fast. Straightforward service. Unpretentious. Original review: Decided to give them another try, after a few years break. Ordered the beef lo mien and beef and broccoli. the beef was extremely flavorless and chewy. I couldn't eat it at all. no matter how much I chewed and chewed, it would not break down. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the chicken wings were pretty good, though certainly not top-notch fried chicken wings. Sweet-and-sour soup was not too bad. if I were to ever revisit, it would be simply for some quick chicken wings and the egg roll, which quite possibly could have been purchased frozen and dropped in the fryer. This, I believe, is the first negative review I have ever left. I'm really upset because I've spent $65 to feed my family and we can't eat the...
Read moreI Only ordered from here because China Garden was not open, which is closer to me. Im only a little over 5 miles away from dragon express. My order was accepted but the driver took over 30 minutes to get here. When i called the restaurant to check on my order, the girl who answered was very very rude and told me i lived far away and that i have to consider traffic too. My first experience with this restaurant- terrible! Very very rude girl. She acted like i lived an hour away from the restaurant. Finally, when food did get here, luckily it was still warm. The egg rolls are AWFUL!!! I ordered 4 shrimp rolls and they were soooooooooo dry with not much flavor. China Garden's are waaaaaaaaaayyyyy better. I ordered house fried rice- it was decent although all of the shrimp was on top(which was only 4 shrimp). My son ordered shrimp lo mein- he said it was decent. And i will say the chicken wings were very good. But again, the egg rolls were awful, employee was extremely rude, delivery took way longer than necessary- i will never give this restaurant my business again. Next time, i will just wait for China Garden to re-open. They have the best chinese food and their egg rolls are EXCELLENT and the employees are verynice. Dragon express- you should ask China Garden how they make their egg rolls- you could learn something. Why are your egg rolls so dry? Ugh!!!! Everyone, you should check out China Garden on South Holden Rd- I guarantee you will...
Read moreI used to order from here all the time but I moved out of the area. Lady who took my order was very nice and I did get my food pretty quick after just walking in to order. But I went to eat a piece of shrimp toast grease dripped off of it onto my shirt. I got home and unpacked the bag and the bag with the egg rolls in it leaked oil all over my desk. Then I was able to see the receipt. I was charged 4 dollars extra for getting fries Instead of rice for my sides w/ my combos and since it was sesame chicken I asked to be boxed separately and was charged for this as well. I was never told I was being charged extra for either. There was so much grease the on the chicken it thinned out the sesame sauce and wasn't eatable. The crab ragoons weren't swimming in grease but they tasted old or they changed the filling because they weren't good either. So out of spending 41 dollars only ate the fries and a few bites of sesame chicken before it all went in the trash....
