The food alone was good the service however left a bad taste in my mouth. I originally was going to the Thai restaurant next door but i saw they were closed and thought well I’m already here I’ll just take my family to Saffron and hope it’s good. I walked in with my kids and was not greeted and I was confused if we sat ourselves or if they did that for us. I told the hostess this was our first time and then she said She was going to seat us. She gave us our table and left. Again I’m still confused because I see a buffet but i wasn’t told it’s JUST a buffet and here I am waiting 10 min to grab another waiters attention to ask do we get menus or do we serve ourselves?? He said “serve yourself” okay fine. I get in line and go through the buffet. I then sit down and have my baby sitting on my lap because they haven’t brought me a high chair. I didn’t see any high chairs in the restaurant so I thought they didn’t have any. Until a customer after me received one for hers. My water was never refilled I had to start drinking some of my sons water because every time I try to get a waiters attention they don’t see/hear me. If you want to grab their attention you literally have to stop them at their tracks and say something. The table behind me was getting refills but my table was ignored. I felt like i was invisible. I was saying excuse me repeatedly and I couldn’t get ONE of these waiters to just stop and refill my drink! I just quit trying and my son and I just shared his water. When we were ready to leave I had to hunt one of these waiters down just to ask if I pay at the table or at the door. He said I pay at the table and then I requested my check so I can go. He gave me my check and walked away before I could give him my card. I figured well they won’t take too long to pick it up I’ll leave it at the edge of the table so they can see I am trying to pay. Again NO ONE comes 15 minutes later with now a cranky baby! I hate to say that I felt discriminated but I felt like the ones that came dressed like they have more money were the ones getting the only attention. I never felt this way but I couldn’t help but notice that the better dressed families were getting better treatment. I’m still a customer and I’ve ALWAYS tipped well! But not today!! They didn’t deserve it one bit. The food was not good enough to put up with the negligence again. I got better service at McDonald’s than this place. That...
Read moreI LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! It has to be one of my favorites to go to. I am vegetarian so there’s not really a lot of selection in Greensboro for people who do not eat dairy/meat. Sharry, one of the hosts of the restaurant as well as the Owner, are always so welcoming of everyone and amazing. No matter how busy the store gets they still make sure to take time, be kind, and give undivided attention to each and every customer as though we are all a part of the family. When I had first came to this restaurant I came with my friend who is vegan and they sat us down and greeted us with water and a smile! Sharry is a superstar here I always see him working. Always smiling and kind and always ready to help and make the customers day!! Whether it’s a suggestion of something different on the menu or a kind gesture of extra bread, he ALWAYS makes my day when I come in to order. So far, I have had the Gobi Manchurian which is a cauliflower dish that’s battered in the best sauces and it’s VEGAN!! It’s also not cooked hard so it’s healthier than the other restaurants I’ve tried around with similar dishes. Vegetarians reading this please try it! Ive also had the Dahl and though it has heavy cream in it it too is AMAZING and they have a vegan option for it called dal tarka (which I had today) and it’s INCREDIBLE! As far as drinks go, I’ve had the mango lasse (it does have yogurt in it) but it was soooo good I couldn’t even stop drinking it! I’ll try the mango juice by itself next time 😁I also love coming here because I don’t feel like I’m just a number. They remember my name, face and order! This shows me that they care about the customers coming in and they pay attention to the regulars. Sharry always says “you’re getting samosas today?” Because for the longest that’s all I would order. They too are vegan and very affordable! This restaurant has also helped me to broaden my taste palette. As a picky eater, I enjoy the variety of nutritional food options they have here. I have so much more positive news to share but I will leave it here. Hands down the BEST food and...
Read moreWe were expecting a restaurant that has lasted this long to have authentic flavor and taste which we would find impressive but unfortunately we were greeted with the opposite. Service was okay, they at least know how to pour water into cups. The Biriyani we ordered were chicken and goat, they both were presented as a block of rice that seemed to be doused in curry. We were expecting a true biriyani but they simply gave us a curry rice. Honestly if they just called it "curry rice with your choice of meat" I would have been less dissatisfied. But it goes on. The goat smelled like what it last ate, maybe some kind of grass or cud and the marination was done poorly if at all, I have never before eaten goat that smelled putrid but tasted like absolutely nothing. The spice level was 4/5 but I think Chick-fil-A's old #2 had more spice than this. The chicken one was unfortunately a sequel to the goat "biriyani." The naan was so-so and the chicken korma was lazily made, usually the chicken would be cooked with the Curry but I assume in order to cut corners, the restaurant simply put kebab meat into a premade sauce. If they were going to be cheap, they could have at least hidden the skewer holes. The chole was also bad, it was lacking flavor and was really soft. Now, if the above options were less than 5 dollars each, I would have been okay but the biriyani was $17 and the chole was $14 according to my memory so l,needless to say, was scammed. Also for a place named after saffron, it was disappointing not to find it's flavor anywhere, especially the biriyani. If your palette has ever touched a proper Indian meal, save it from being ruined by this. And if your wallet has ever paid a reasonable price, don't...
