They've actually done quite a great job with renovations of this hotel over the years. I do understand it's quite an old building. Kudos! And the location was super clean. If you are looking for somewhere to rest your head in a nice clean environment, this is definitely a very decent spot. Water pressure was a bit low, which I expected in this old building. It wasn't quite what my partner and I needed. Needed a weekend away from the kiddos to reconnect. The problem for us is that it is super quiet. Imagine that! Imagine a hotel being super quiet is a problem for anyone š But, here is what I mean. When walking down the hall to go to the lobby, one guest conversation stopped me in my tracks. I could hear them so clearly it was almost like they were talking to me and my natural human reaction was to slow down and see if they were talking to me (like you would if you thought you heard your name called). Only, they couldn't have been, because the door was closed. They did not have a door sweep underneath their door as was the case in our room. So when you turn off all of the lights, you can see the bright lights from the hallway, coming in under the door. We were near the stair door so when someone came or went, you can hear the door close as if it were in your own room. And boy did they slam shut. If they were talking amongst themselves or on their phones, you could hear their conversation very clearly. The rooms do not have carpet, which is a plus for some. But it also means that sound bounces off of every corner. And when you needed some private time in the restroom, you had to just be transparent with your partner and turn up the music or the TV so that they wouldn't hear every little thing that was going on while you were in the restroom. My husband and I've been together for 20 plus years, so there are no secrets here but one still prefers a bit of privacy for certain things. Also, imagine a nice couple wanting to have some private time, complete with some music, that could be clearly heard from halfway down the hall... Was about as bad as trying to have some private time with the kiddos up and moving around in the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy stay was just okay. Canāt complain about the furnishings, as they were on par with most 2-star hotels.
I will, however, complain about the management.
After I stayed (only one night on a Saturday), I realized after leaving and driving 4 hours home that I had left my nice headphones. I immediately call the hotel, and the manager, Nathan, picks up. He assures me that itāll be an easy fix and that heāll give me a shipping rate the next day.
Perfect.
Or rather, it wouldāve been perfect, if that hadāve actually happened. I didnāt receive a single call from him (I left my information) for two whole weeks.
I use those headphones to combat my anxiety. It was a very, very long two weeks.
I called every other day, and only spoke with an employee named Sammy, who was incredibly kind and understanding with my issue. She let me know that my information had been passed along to Nathan multiple times, reminding him that I had called.
Two weeks of this.
Sammy was an angel the entire time, not getting upset at me for calling every other day, and then every day as I became increasingly frustrated with this ridiculous situation.
Only after contacting the manager through the personal number on his business card (again, this was two whole weeks later) was I able to get up with him.
It should not have been this difficult. Blame was quickly shifted onto the ONLY person who assisted me for ānot getting my information,ā and it was very easy to see through this veneer. I gave him my contact information on day one of trying to get my headphones back, so that excuse didnāt hold up.
Let me reiterate: Sammy was an absolute godsend, showing compassion and consideration for my situation. If not for her, this ordeal wouldāve been 10x as infuriating. Thank God for her help.
Hopefully something changes with management, because I was certainly surprised at the lack of accountability present in such a professional...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLong story short you get what you pay for, but if your looking for a clean safe pretty cheap hotel this is it!
Cons: the first night early in the morning something started beaping in my room. I called downstairs to get someone to come fix it and nobody picked up. After about 5 minutes I went down in person and nobody was at the front. After about a minute I believe the maintenance man saw me, and he immediately came to the room and fixed the issue
It was very annoying I had to go down there and nobody was at the front especially when I was still trying to sleep
Also bathroom light sometimes took a minute or 2 to turn on
Hotel in general isn't the fanciest, little imperfections here and there but, with that said that leads to pros:
Its cheap! I paid $168 total for 2 night stay
The rooms where quite and clean, no bugs anywhere, aircondition got cold! I like sleeping with it cold and got it down to about 62 degrees no problem!
Rooms where pretty quit too. Bathtubs was big. They have a basic free breakfast too
Summary: for $84 a night I cant really complain. This isn't a 5 star hotel and there's not a lot of amenities, but its $84 a night!
When I get food at McDonald's for a dollar it's pretty basic too, so you get what you pay for
If you want luxury and fancy stuff this isn't it... but you'll probably be spending closer to $150-200 a night somewhere else too
If you want a good safe hotel to stay at that works and that's cheap, I recommend this once! I would stay at it again if I had...
