The ambience and decor of this place is pretty unique- really makes you feel like you're in NOLA. However, the drinks and service do not meet the level of hype this place is receiving online.
Two main problems I had with my experience at The Quarter:
1.) The staff. There seemed to be no staff circulating to greet guests and take drink orders on the second level where we were sitting (which is fine) so I decided to track down a menu on my own. When I got to the bar, I got yelled at by the bartender for grabbing a menu because "My bar isn't open yet." Cool. I'm not sure how grabbing one menu from your giant stack sitting on the bar top messes with your set up, but sure. The bar downstairs wasn't much better. Waited a while for a drink, and once the guy behind the bar took my order he told me "I don't know how to make that- I'm just a bar back" when I ordered two SPECIALTY COCKTAILS from THEIR menu. I also saw this guy wipe the bottom of his shoe with his bare hand and then continue to assemble peoples' drinks. Sprinkle in some problems using the payment software and you have a pretty abysmal guest service experience.
2.) The drinks. Not worth the price point in my opinion. We ordered the espresso martini and one of the tequila/rum cocktails and they were mediocre at best, maybe cuz they were batched. Nothing like spending $15 just to watch someone pour a premixed cocktail into a glass (and spilling it all over their hand in the process).
I'm a huge fan of Joyner's in WS (owned by the same group apparently) and so I'm hoping The Quarter figures it out. I know they just opened too so maybe chalk my bad experience up to growing pains. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised next time I go backā however, I'm afraid that will probably be a while because of the bad taste in my mouth I got...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Quarter, a new bar in Greensboro, offers a mixed experience that has the potential to become a top-tier destination with a few key improvements. Located in the heart of the city, this establishment draws inspiration from New Orleans, creating an ambiance that is both dark and moody, perfectly suited for a night out.
The service at The Quarter is exceptional. The staff is attentive, friendly, and efficient, making sure that all guests feel welcomed and well taken care of. The drinks menu is diverse and intriguing, with a range of cocktails that are tasty and well-crafted. However, at $14 a drink, they are light on the alcohol, which might leave some patrons feeling short-changed for the price.
The interior design of The Quarter is stunning, particularly in the daylight when the natural light highlights the beautiful details of the space. As night falls, the bar's atmosphere shifts to embrace a darker, more intimate vibe, which aligns perfectly with the New Orleans theme. The centerpiece of the bar, two enormous trees around which the bar is built, is a unique and striking feature.
However, there is a significant missed opportunity in the lighting design. The trees lack any form of uplighting or accent lighting that could truly elevate the bar's ambiance. Implementing such lighting would not only enhance the visual appeal but also reinforce the thematic elements, making the overall experience more immersive and memorable.
In conclusion, The Quarter has many strengths, including excellent service and a beautiful interior. Yet, with some improvements in the drink strength and strategic lighting enhancements, this bar could elevate its experience to a truly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA previous reviewer hit the nail on the head. The atmosphere is gorgeous. I absolutely loved every aspect of this place (especially the aerial ladies). However, I made the mistake of visiting for the first time on a Saturday night. Extremely crowded, lines everywhere, bartenders focused on efficiency rather than mixologists giving you a unique cocktail experience, and it eventually became VERY hot inside. I found myself looking around wondering why there were no ceiling fans or at least a few windows cracked. I also wondered if they purposefully had limited bar staff in order to create lines because they let too many people in. I found it hard to imagine where all of those extra people wouldāve been able to go. Also, I am an aspiring DJ and the crowd was my absolute favorite type. Mixed, eager to have a good time, and into a wide variety of music. Unfortunately, the DJ was not up to the task. I couldnāt tell who he was catering to. He would play a song or two that got the whole place singing and then switch to something off-putting that would make them sit down/go back to talking. He missed so many opportunities for great mixes between similar artists, popularly sampled classics, and I didnāt hear any artists from Louisiana which had me flabbergasted. I would visit again, but I think I want to try it on a weeknight next time. This place has so much potential, they just have some kinks...
