Vaquero's Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Greensboro

We were visitors in the area, and picked up dinner from this lovely, authentic, family owned restaurant that is down the street from our hotel. The hostess was very patient and provided much needed friendly suggestions while our family struggled to make decisions between their menu items. I was extremely excited to hear that they had lengua and menudo (on a Saturday night!). We ordered the chimichanga combo with lengua, California burrito, and menudo with pigs feet. The hostess made sure to put all the sauces on the side so that the food didn't get soggy, as well as provided salsas, sour cream, and chile en vinagre. She also threw in some delicious homemade tortilla chips and salsa. All the food was AMAZING! We've been missing authentic, delicious food from Alaska (currently stationed in VA) and this restaurant and its staff did not disappoint. The decor inside was lovely as well.

Pricing is great for the amount and quality of food. The service and food we received was greatly appreciated....

TERRIBLE experience. I arrived to an empty restaurant to place a to-go order. I ordered a burrito and fajitas. After about 15 mins of waiting a party of 10 arrived to dine in… these folks were served before I received my to-go order. I asked the younger, shorter, chubbier waitress about the status of my order and that I had been there 40 mins at that point, she scolded me and shouted “don’t you see we’re occupied?!” Well… obviously you all are now occupied but that doesn’t excuse the fact we’ve waited over 40 mins for a burrito and fajitas. We ordered the Fajita plate and a flauta plate. The rice, beans and tortillas did not have flavor. I was bummed the flauta plate did not come with a side of beans (rice only). I appreciate that they made bean and cheese tacos for my kids but don’t like that they priced it at $3.50/taco. The horchata water was delicious and it came with refills so that was awesome! As for the service, there was a crab leg under my chair, our food came at different times and my plate came last compared to everyone else and when it did, I didn’t have silverware and had to wait to request it.
