So conflicted about this review. Was staying in town for 3 nights to see an old friend on a road trip. I'm a Marriott member and was staying on points. I'm a Marriott member because I expect a certain level of quality and this place just didn't deliver.
Check in was a mess. It was late at night, and the key encoder wouldn't work. It took 30 minutes to get that resolved after I had been driving for 10 hours. If that wasn't enough, I was interrogated 3 times about where I was coming from and why I needed the room, with multiple accusations of trying to throw a party in the room.
The room was nicely laid out with Marriott quality stuff (bed, furniture, etc), and the shower was a gorgeous walk in. Unfortunately there was zero water pressure, and the property had some $5 water saving shower head installed which made it almost useless. The shower also leaked and you could see mold and mildew all around the edges.
The common areas including the outdoor patio space looked like it was nice, but hasn't been maintained in years.
They also have a sister property next door. I know this because the desk clerk called someone from that hotel who walked over while trying to resolve the issues at check in. At one point we pulled our car into a space in the lot next door while we were pulling up directions on Google maps. Two employees came out of the hotel, approached my car, and asked what we were doing. After I explained, they literally started yelling that I could not park there and threatened to call the police unless we moved.
This is a Marriott franchise operated by JAM Hospitality according to signs on the property. I blame them. In general the employees / staff I came across seemed friendly enough. My impression is that the issues we came across are the result of a management team that's trying to cut costs in all the wrong ways. I hope Marriott corporate takes a good look at this place and considers how appropriate it is to keep their name...
Read moreI arrived and was pre checked in. I was given keys for both rooms at the front desk. I was NOT ASKED for photo ID. I checked out my rooms. One was a king that should have had a shower seat. I took pictures. The shower seat was disassembled and propped on the wall in pieces. My reservation had specific notes that I needed a shower seat due to a recent total hip replacement. I was traveling for a military funeral. I went downstairs to speak to someone about it. I was told that the room would be taken out of order. So two hours later I was watching tv and hear loud noise from the room beside me. My other room. A large man was in there. I told him he was in my room. I went downstairs apparently the agent moved my other room AND DID NOT TELL ME! By the time the error was discovered there was no room left for me to be next to my 70 year parents on that floor. When they arrived and we got to that new room. That shower seat was also broken. My did and I fixed it in a manner so that my mom could use it. I did not get a good night sleep for going up and down to check on my parents. Not to mention the people that were given my room were so loud and disrespectful. The package breakfast was a joke. You can do better than that. At least prewrapped, sealed break fast sandwiches. What was offered was honeybuns, nutrigrain bars, and unwrapped oranges. It was a complete disappointment. Pool was not open either. I work in a hospital setting. Very familiar on infection control and keeping folks safe. No beverages offered at the breakfast. I get it was a franchise hotel but the lack of detail showed. I felt like I was NOT and a Marriott property. I also do not feel I was given compensation for...
Read moreHere's a revised version of your review with improved clarity, tone, and structure:
I stayed at this hotel after driving 7 hours from Pennsylvania, and while the hotel was generally clean and the breakfast was decent for hotel food, I had an unfortunate experience that left me disappointed.
After the long drive, I went out for dinner and returned to the hotel to relax and watch some college basketball. Exhausted from the drive, I eventually went to bed. I was sleeping in the middle of the bed, and during the night, I turned over and noticed an odd smell, something like urine. I was so tired, though, that I just rolled over and went back to sleep.
The next morning, when I woke up, I discovered a stain on the side of the bed. I checked under the blanket, under the sheet, and even lifted the mattress protector, only to find a pee stain on the second mattress cover. I went to the front desk to report the issue, and while the receptionist was very kind, she wasn’t able to do much and told me I would have to wait for the manager.
When the manager finally arrived, she was quite rude. I explained the situation, and she asked why I hadn’t reported it during the night. I told her I was exhausted and didn’t notice the stain right away. She made it seem as if I had caused the stain, which was frustrating.
In the end, the best she could offer was a 50% discount on the room and 3,500 points for a future stay, which I felt was insufficient given the circumstances. I would advise anyone staying in room 503 to check the mattress and mattress protector to ensure the stain has been...
