Blackbeard is such a great little coffee shop. They roast their own beans on site, serve Great Harvest pastries (Hummingbird Muffin is my favorite), and support local artists by selling their coffee-related gear in store, like local potter Erika Gibson's handmade custom Blackbeard-branded coffee mugs.

So is the coffee any good? Heck yeah! I moved here from Seattle in 2016, and Blackbeard wasn't open yet, so there were only a few options for really good coffee. Starbucks does not count. If you like Starbucks, this may not be your place. However, they do make a really great caramel macchiato in the Starbucks style.

They opened in September 2017 and my husband became a regular while I was studying abroad in Italy. When I got back, I ordered a cappuccino and it was perfecto! They also sell a Cortado which is 2oz coffee, 2oz steamed milk. A great little pick me up without too much milk to cover the coffee flavor. Their style is decidedly more in the Italian vein, so tell them how you like your coffee or ask how their offerings are prepared to make sure you're going to get what you want. They are happy to remake a drink if it's not quite...

I came here with a couple of coworkers since we work down the street, and I do not drink coffee. They do have offerings that are not just coffee, though, so I was able to get something. I got an iced green tea, and I asked for it to be super sweet. It looks like they added some sugar and some honey. There was one person working, and they made us the drinks after we ordered. My tea was poured into a cup of ice and then given to me, and I felt that it could have been a little sweeter, but I did not want to ask for more since there were people in line and I had to get back to work. It was still really good, though! Next time, I will know to say the amount of sweetness in terms of pumps. I am not really a coffee shop goer, so I am pretty awkward when it comes to placing orders and knowing what to say. The atmosphere of the shop was very comfortable, and I would...

Im new to the area and everyone has suggested blackbeards to me since moving. I finally made my way over there and i went it and the first thing i noticed was how calm and inviting the environment is. I waited for just a minute before the man at the counter greeted me. I told him i was new to the area and wantes to try something new. He asked what kind of coffee i wantes cold or hot, he asked me if i wanted something new or something i could get anywhere. After telling him i wanted something new he told me about a drink he made up with hazelnut, cold foam and espresso. After paying he chated with me and was very friendly. I definitely will be going back as ofterln as i can. Definitely reccomend to anyone who wants to support a...

The hot brown sugar latte that i ordered was great; it had lots of flavor, but not too sweet (which is a plus for me)! I could taste the coffee, brown sugar flavor, and the milk; it had a good balance! My husband enjoyed the cold vanilla latte, and the cinnamon sugar muffin that he ordered as well! The barista was very welcoming, kind, and helpful! She had great customer service, and she explained the lattes very well! This place gives me quiet and relaxing vibes! We had to park on one of the side streets, then navigate our way just across the street to access the coffee shop, but it was worth it! Thank you for a great experience! I will be back!

amazing espresso, cold brew is not for me but they kindly made me a different drink when I said something EDIT: Now that I don’t live here I feel I can be more honest. The cold brew was 100% rancid and when I mentioned that something was off with it, I was told backhandedly that I must not like strong coffee… I’m a barista who grew up on strong black coffee. They do have good iced tea and espresso, but it would be nice if they weren’t so high and mighty when recieving criticism, I have never responded that way to a customer. They made me feel terrible and uncomfortable.
