Had high hopes for a new down town spot. The experience wouldn’t have been so bad if it wasn’t multiple problems stacked on top of each other. The prices we’re high but wouldn’t have minded if the service/quality matched the price. As soon as we walked in it should’ve been the red flag. We stood at the front for a little bit without being greeted while watching all the servers stand at the back. After finally being seated it also took quite awhile for a server to approached us to take our drink order. Another person brought out our pizza, just to go grab a slice and we couldn’t tear it apart even using both hands. Our server passed us at least 5-7 times and wouldn’t make eye contact with us as we also wanted to ask for ranch as well as getting out pizza recut. As a previous server myself I hate to wave someone down but that’s what it came down to after no one would approach us to ask how our food was. The only reason why that was so frustrating is we saw four people behind the bar talking to two guys and watching the cooks come out and walk up to tables multiple times to talk to friends. After getting our now cold pizza recut and an eye roll from the cook later (there’s a window, we can see into the kitchen) we take our first bite for it to be burnt and we couldn’t stomach more than one piece. Was getting black all over my fingers. By that point our server finally came back and we just asked for a box and that’s when she asked how our food was. Told her it was so-so and said it was more on the burnt side. Her response made it seem like it was a common thing as they “usually try to catch it to “flag” the ones that are getting burnt from the oven”. We will probably try it again after a few weeks to see if we just caught them on a bad night and these issues get addressed. She was still tipped 20% as she didn’t cook the pizza but the service also wasn’t so great for how slow it was in there.

We came on a Saturday at noon. I had been wanting to come here because I heard the pizza was great. I have high expectations after living in NJ for 20 years. At first we thought we were the only ones at the place since we parked on the street right in front of the door on the bar side, but there is parking in the back, so when we walked in we found 5 occupied tables besides people eating at the bar. The space is clean, nicely lit, and decorated in a Modern rustic style with western movie posters around. But I was the most psyched when I saw a map of NJ and Italy on the wall. I ordered the margherita pizza and added prosciutto while my husband ordered the Heartland without peppers and onions. The crust had the good bubbles. My husband’s crust was perfect with that right amount of stretchiness you get in New York style pizza. My pizza’s crust was a little crispy but it did not affect the taste. The sausage they use is great Italian sausage not those weird balls so many Texas pizza places use. Several people at tables near us had ordered pasta but I want to go back and try the eggplant parm. I just don’t know if I will ever actually want to order anything besides their pizza. I miss it already.

Had a wonderful time here. The wife and I shared a chicken parmesan with aside salad and it was probably the best chicken parmesan I've ever had. Elias was our server and we made his life miserable for a few minutes because the wife was cold sitting in the wind outside but he was a trooper and went out of his way to find us a table inside and guarantee we had a great experience. Although we didn't try the pizza we felt like we had an entertaining show watching Joel spin the pizza dough over his head. Bottom line: you're missing out if you don't visit this place when you're in town. By the way, Fatto a Mano means hand made in Italian and they certainly live up to their name. The Chicken Parmesan was $18 and the side salad was $10. We wouldn't do the side salad again as we both agreed that was a little pricey for us but overall a really great experience.

Terrible and not just the service - my teen son loves Italian food so we decided to splurge and I took him and his sister here. Because I don't like crowds, we arrived just before 5pm when they opened. The waitress ignored us for several passes but eventually we ordered drinks and an appetized and then food when she brought the drinks. It took approx 20 minutes to get the appetizer (cheese bread) even with the restaurant 1/3 full. The entrees took 35 minutes after ordering. It was terrible. The waitress would walk by and avoid eye contact. Despite the incredible delay, my daughter wanted dessert. We ordered a slice of cake (to eat there) and a piece of tiramisu to go. The cake showed up before the tiramisu and, honestly, was very good. The tiramisu (printed "tarramassu" on the receipt, no joke) arrived at the table. It was horrible. Dried out and yellow-colored. Usually a serving of tiramisu is about 4"X4". The was about 4"X2" and was only about an inch high. To the great embarrassment of my daughter, I flagged down the waitress and told her that I would not be taking that home and would like it removed from the check. She took the container back to the counter where she spoke with a manager-looking gentleman. He shook his head and started walking deliberately to the kitchen. He apparently showed the contents of the container to the guy cooking who started yelling to me across the restaurant that he could "cut another piece" for me. I shook my head no and asked for the check. He asked again. A this point I just wanted to leave but was waiting on the check with the charge for the tiramisu removed. Our waitress brought the check and a fresh piece of tiramisu "on the house." I didn't want it but my son wanted it so we left with it. When we got home, the container was filled with rotten blueberries, limp sliced strawberries and a reasonable piece of tiramisu. The blueberries were moldy and some has started to melt into the other blueberries. YUCK.

Because I'm an optimist, today (one week later) I decided to grab a pizza from there on my way to bf's house. I called at 6:15pm to order and was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. I got there around 6:45 (like I said, I'm an optimist) and took a seat at the bar to wait. The bartender was apparently responsible for my to-go order. He took my money for the pizza but no offer of a glass of water while I waited. 7pm rolled around and no pizza. 7:05, 7:10, 7:15.....meanwhile Mr. bartender was back and forth by the kitchen. At 7:15 I hailed him as he flew by and said "where's my order". He mumbled something (certainly NOT an apology) and said the order blah blah blah and then "another 20 minutes". I asked for my money back and left.

This restaurant is too ambitious with the small space. Wait times are horrid and customer service is non-existent. They certainly have enough staff because I could see them congregating around the order machine instead of serving customers. Hard pass on this one folks. Save your money...
