Iām giving Mikes Cheesesteaks a five star rating because the owners take the time to reply to their customers and want them to enjoy their sandwiches. My favorite cheesesteak place is Tony Lukeās in Philly, I canāt tell you how many times I have gone from my former home in Staten Island, NY. The bread or roll has to have a bit of a crunch to it once you place the steak and wiz on it. If Mikes truly āimportsā itās bread from NJ, (and Iām not saying they donāt) unfortunately there is no way to keep that genuine crunch as if it came out of the bakery the same day. Iād suggest (if I may) to toast the bread just a little bit before placing the ingredients inside the bread. Also if Iām going to be 100% honest, for the amount of money spent on either the steak or roast pork, the meat to bread ratio is a bit on the light side. Go to Dellasandros (for a comparison) in Philly and youāll be simply AMAZED at the amount of meat put into one of their sandwiches for $11.00-$12.00! Dinics roast pork sandwiches in Reading Terminal Market in Philly is another of my favorites. Hand carved chunks of sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and of course that moist roast pork placed into a crisp Italian bread is to die for. Mikes cheesesteaks isnāt bad for being in the south, but if he is really from Philly, then he has to always remember the size of the steak sandwiches he grew up on and still served in Philly. Mikes roast pork just slightly edged his cheesesteak for me, but Both sandwiches were very good though. I prefer my onions diced on a cheesesteak, not cut long, just my preference. Again, if I may, give us transplanted northerners and the native South Carolina folk the Philly experience all the way for the money. Great job guys,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am very critical of the cheesesteaks I eat, always trying to find the best. And with mikeās (specifically Andrewās way with both sweet and spicy peppers), I think I have finally found the best.
Hereās a list of all the things it checks off on my cheesesteak must-haves: āļøLots of flavor āļøPerfect ratio of vegetables to meat to cheese āļøMade fresh every time āļøSofter bread āļøNeat, stays together, and not soggy (you can actually pick it up and eat it without making a ridiculous mess!) āļøEasy to customizeā theyāre happy to put any combination of peppers, onions, and mushrooms you desire, as well as on option to put it on fries instead of bread and multiple cheese options. You can even switch the steak for chicken! āļøAmazing service, some of the friendliest people Iāve had the pleasure of doing business with
The only warning I have to give about this place: If youāre like me, you WILL get addicted and crave...
