Dixie Family Restaurant II — Restaurant in Greenville

Update- Finally made it for lunch. My 5 stars stand- had the chicken n dumplings. Fried okra and banana pudding ( comes with a 3rd side but my waist line said absolutely not.) I was actually disappointed with myself at how fast I ate my dumplings. Absolutely delicious! Staff was amazing as always and the owner makes it a point to walk around and talk to everyone that comes in, in between cooking!

Yall. This is that "Saturday morning mamas home cooking" type of restaurant. If you're looking for a place to become a regular..this is it! Everything I've ordered has been delicious and I've all but kicked my plate. The fried bologna and egg biscuit....oooooweee! And the staff is...

Quick service but sub-par food. Got the Fried Chicken and Country Fried Steak. Chicken was OK, steak was overcooked and flavorless. Black eyed peas were good. Green beans were weird tasting, mash potatoes were not good - definitely needed salt but even after, just meh. Greens were OK (at best). Biscuit was packaged tasting (like small uniform bland boxed biscuits) The white gravy was on everything and added pretty much no flavor. All in all, very unimpressed. Not sure why this place gets even halfway decent reviews.

Oh, and the strawberry cake was bad enough that it was thrown...

We had one of the best meals today. We all ordered the calabash chicken. I ordered fried okra, pinto beans with onions on the side. Macaroni & cheese pie that was melt in your mouth. Cornbread & Sweet iced tea with lemon. Banana Pudding could have been a little better, but it was still on point. My daughter ordered the same thing minus the banana pudding.
