We visited this new brewery the other day. Positives: They have a wide selection of food that is surprisingly good. I definitely was not expecting that from a brewery/Bar. And the prices were very reasonable. And for those that do not drink or just want a soda with their food, they have a Coke Fountain with free refills available for $2.50. This is a MAJOR highlight for my wife who does not drink. I ordered 3 of their beers - Double IPA - Hazy IPA - Imperial Stout. I tried all of the rest that they had through sips from my friends glasses. (Rona be darned) They were all three absolutely amazing! I won't rate the beers individually here but they were all extremely good. And I'm picky about my beers. Negatives: 1. I called an hour before arriving and asked if they had beer flights. I was told yes they did. But when I arrived an hour later the bar tender and hostess could not get their stories straight about why they were NOT serving beer flights. Some of the reasons I received were: - because they stop serving flights after 1pm because of the crowds. Which is bogus because there was all of 20 people there while we were there. - Or because it was a last minute decision for the day but they usually offer them just not today. 2. One of The gentleman serving at the bar was unnecessarily rude when I asked about a beer on the menu that was not available on this particular evening. He told me it was currently in the tank then walked away before I could order an alternative drink. And I had to call him back to order a beer. I assume he was the owner or brew master and not typically a server because he acts like all the owner/brew masters I've ever met. Sad but true. He makes awesome beer but not good with the customers. But knowing this going in to a 2nd visit I'll make sure I order from one of the other, more polite, bar tenders. Because other than these 2 negatives it was a very nice place... hence the 4 star rating.

Update: so disappointed that the cheese curds are no longer on the menu. ----- I really liked the atmosphere and music here. The place is huge! Much bigger than I thought. The ordering system was great. No need to wait for a server and the food came out very quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. As far as the food, you absolutely have to get the cheese curds and pretzels. The wings were good, but I wish they were a bit more crispy. Three of us had burgers and one had the Italian meat sandwich. The Italian got 4 stars, but the burger was pretty bad. Mine was thin, way overcooked and tasted like it was grilled in a very dirty and burnt flat top. I absolutely would not get that again. The fries were good, crispy and the Mac and cheese was good, but very average. There was a small but very good kids menu, too Beer selection was very good, as was the hard liquor. I'm looking forward to warmer weather when we can come back, bring the dogs and eat outside.

Greenville has micro breweries and pubs sprouting up on a pretty regular basis. One of the newest, Southernside, is located immediately adjacent to the Swamp Rabbit directly across from the Commons. Bikes next to the trail and cars in the parking lot about evenly divided on a Sunday afternoon. Chill backyard seating compliments indoor seating- both entertained this late afternoon with a driving classic rock playlist. I had the Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich with purple cabbage slaw on the side ($12.50). Served with a spicy “southernside sauce”- much like onion ring dipping sauce elsewhere, the portion was generous and the chicken was prepared properly. The slaw is good, note it’s a creamy base, not vinegar. I tried both the Sirens Sour (it certainly is) and the So Fresh and So Clean Pilsner. While the Pilsner was nothing special, sour fans will be pleased- pineapple, mango, and peach.

We went to eat with my in-laws and when the place we originally went to eat was closed, we decided to try out Southernside. The beer list looked promising and the food was even more intriguing. We ordered and went outside to find a place to sit. The whole outside courtyard was set up with an outside bar and a bunch of vendors tents with local small businesses selling items. It was a very nice setting and the atmosphere was great. The food came out and the bacon jam on the burger was amazing! The piece of chicken on my daughter's sandwich was so big. I hate when you get more bread than actually meat but Southernside definitely didn't skimp on anything. Portions and flavors were out of this world. We will definitely be coming back and probably bringing our dog as it is a very pet friendly business in the outside areas

Very Impressed! Awesome space inside and out. There are plenty of staff to cover the volume of customers, and they are friendly. So friendly that one of the bartenders gave me a few minutes of his time asking me about my experience and what I liked the best. I had a flight of beer sampling across the different styles. They were all solid and clean; like someone with lots of experience brewed them. But what really stood out to me was the Imperial Stout. It is silky and hits all the taste notes, even though it has a lower IBU. The bartender asked if I wanted a taste of the Peach Milkshake since I like the stout so much. He described it, i tasted it, and it delivered. Keep doing what you're doing Southernside. I will be back to try the food very soon!

Stopped here while visiting Greenville. Loved the location & outdoor patio. Reminds me of the ones we have in South Florida. Patio would have been fun but unfortunately it was raining so had to stay indoors. Ordered a Porter and West coast IPA. Both were excellent!! Very surprised to see bourbon on the shelves. Maybe next time. For lunch we had an order of pretzels and a chicken wrap with fries. Both good. It's nice when breweries have a full kitchen so you don't have to go somewhere else. Really enjoyed our time here and would definitely love to visit again when the weather cooperates so we could get the whole outdoors vibe of this brewery.
