Amazing!! I am a senior at ECU this year and have to be honest, I had never heard of Villa Verde. Although I now know I have drove past it so many times since I know where/what it is, I just didn't know anything about it before if that makes sense. However, today is my birthday and my mom/stepdad were coming up to eat with me and I wanted to try something different. So I looked up best restaurants in Greenville and Villa Verde came up so I was like, hmmm a Dominican restaurant sounds interesting! My mom was like "what in the world have you brought me to" haha (because she had no clue what the food on the menu was, which neither did I with some things), but me, her and my step dad absolutely loved it! I got the Mofongo with shrimp and had to bring it back to my room with me it was so much, so feeling and SO good. Also the staff were incredible. We explained we were newbies and I unfortunately cannot remember our waiters name but he was the bomb. We didn't even ask, he just automatically suggested things on the menu and explained them to us because we said we had never been there before. DEFINITELY if you live, drive through or visit Greenville, you HAVE to go here!! P.S. the food looks like it just came out of a restaurant where you have to pay like 20 - 30 bucks for it, but what I ordered was only about $11.95 (pic shown below).

We visited Villa Verde for the first time Friday night. It was AMAZING. I had the Cuban sandwich, my husband had the special (skirt steak that was incredibly tender!), and my daughter had the grilled chicken from the kid's menu. We also had the Madrones (fried plaintains) and finished with fried cheesecake. Literally EVERYTHING was superb, we were all sharing bites between the 3 of us. For parents with kids that might be wary of trying new things, they have a kid's menu. So no worries! See my pics for an example. VV is a very small location, and it was busy from the time we walked in until the time we left. However, the staff was incredibly on top of things. I come from a restaurant background, and it's sort of my default position to watch that kind of stuff. Their bussers were on point, our server was attentive (but not intrusive, which I love) and he knew his business. You can always tell an experienced server, and he was definitely one I would have loved to have working for me when I was in the business. My only complaint was that they were out of empanadas, and we got there pretty early. But hey: that just gives is a reason to go back! To sum up, VV is a hidden gem in Greenville. Go. Try the food. You won't be disappointed!

Man this restuarant is so good. Almost 25 people in our party could not believe how great the food was. Drinks oh yes. Red sangria best I've ever had and I need that recipe please. Wife had a watermelon martini so tasty. Coach raved about his mofungo. We had the seafood paella for 2 which was loaded with seafood and cooked to perfection. Our daughter shrimp avocado salad looked beautiful. This is the type of restaurant you fall in love with. The owner is such a nice guy checking on his guest. They use his mother's recipes. I can't say enough good things its my type of restuarant. You know walking in the food will be awesome. I wish the owner the best he's a hard working guy making people smile and their belly full.

AUTHENTIC RECIPES passed down through generations of fantastic people from the DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. My son & brother went with me on our virgin voyage to experience the well reviewed 10th Street location.

We sampled three of their SIGNATURE DISHES plus two desserts to capture the flavor+creativity that is VILLA VERDE! Every dish came in a lovely presentation but the SEAFOOD PAELLA was the "pinnacle of WOW" as it was CROWNED with a whole lobster!!! It was seated on a delicious bed of rice & peas that was generously scattered with: shrimp, mussels, calamari, & plantains as the base for the lobster. Drawn butter, lobster utensils, a hand washing cup, & a plate for "the lobster shell corpse" were provided.

I tried & shared my "cooked to perfection" Mahi Mahi in a delish sauce. (One of the Mom's is a chef in the kitchen prepping this very popular "secret family recipe")-plated with a formed tower of white rice & a bowl of beans- (Which I soon mixed into my rice!)- plus a delish avocado salad. My son selected the skirt steak- marinated in pineapple juice+ spices & covered in large shrimp. My son requested it cooked to medium rare perfection and we were not disappointed! Served with avocado salad, white rice tower & beans. The steak was FANTASTIC!!!

The desserts we selected were: fried cheese cake + tres leche (3 milks cake). Yummy w three spoons to share! FANTASTIC end to a fine meal.

Our ENTERTAINMENT was talking with Villa Verde staff/ family members as they gave us best suggestions from their menu based on our food preferences. We heard stories about "the old country" and mothers and discussed educational plans (I was a middle grades teacher.) for the tallest server!!!

We discussed the VILLA VERDE story: beautiful dream to goal + sweat equity & determination to food truck (beloved & swamped with hungry ECU PIRATE students) to 10th street restaurant to new location for "quick bites bowls" near the hospital/med school complex.

If you haven't been...look them up online, connect on facebook... GO & EXPERIENCE VILLA VERDE for yourself w someone(s) you love...your flavor palate, tummy & heart will leave happy & full...TRUST ME!!! GO...

So let me say that my boyfriend and I have lived in greenville for 3 years now and Villa Verde has been one of our favorite places to eat. Recently, as in the past three or four times we have come in the food was great but the service was trash. Each time we came in when it wasn't busy at all. This past time was the last straw for me. I shouldn't be seated and have to wait 10 minutes to get a menu when we are one of three tables. We had to ask the server 3 times for our drinks and when he never brought them we finally asked another server. Took 20 minutes in total to get our drinks. When we finally ordered our food I knew there was going to be a problem. The server did not speak English all that well and he did not write down our order and I had a feeling he was going to mess up. I asked him to repeat what we wanted back and he just looked at me. We repeated the order again and he STILL did not write it down. Needless to say our order was incorrect and when we asked about it he talked us in circles and tried to convince us that what we had was right. I know that menu inside and out and we know what we order. Luckily the food was amazing as it always is and so we didn't fuss. I know how incredible this place can be when they have good staff but recently I have been let down every time. Guys... PLEASE get some good servers in there. I will be back in a heart beat when you do. I would start with getting rid of the middle aged, male, waiter who does not speak English well. Bless his heart... he is nice but has no idea how to...

Where to start... so we were in town for a motorcycle rally. We decided to try them out since the food sounded great! We get there (we did have a big party) but the place was packed. They sat us outside, which was fine, it was not too hot out. We sat at a couple high tops and to start, the chairs were sooo uncomfortable. But whatever , we are just there to eat right? Wrong... we waited about 30/45 minutes for drinks (I ordered water). They brought out our appetizers around the same time. I got the queso frito (fried cheese) and when it came out it was barely warm and too fried. I ordered the Churrasco steak and my fiancƩ ordered the Pernil Plate. Well, everyone started getting their food, albeit a while later but they were getting it. Even tables that came after us were getting their food. Everyone else in my party got their food and we were still waiting. Almost 2 hours later everyone else in my party had eaten and were paying. We still had not gotten our food. We told them to cancel our order. Apparently, our ticket had gone missing (excuse for not having our food out?). Needless to say, we didn't get to eat dinner and were extremely upset. Another couple in our party were also about to cancel their order (they hadn't gotten their food either by the ime we asked to cancel our order). The man had ordered Sancocho! It's soup! How can you not serve someone soup in 2 hours? Anyway. Our experience...
