Tucked away in the same rather unremarkable strip center as the Spinx Corporate offices is a true hidden gem, Zorba Lounge. Easy to miss if you’re not looking closely at the corner of Washington and Laurens Road, look for the “temporary” blue sign at the top (it’s been temporary for a while). If you’re a first-timer, don’t bother to look at the menu. Just order the steak sandwich. It’s the best in GVegas, and like EVERYTHING else on the menu, it is huge. It’s available on a onion bun with mayo only for $12.95, other condiments extra. You can add fries for $3, but just get the half order, any more and they pour off the edge of the plate. You could also get the steak sandwich sub ($13.95), which comes on a hoagie roll and already has mayo, grilled peppers, grilled onion, mushrooms and provolone- again, just the half fries, they’ll end up out on the table anyway. My colleagues chose the half chef salad (all you could need at $10.75) and the Reuben ($8.75), which is appropriate only if you’ve already had the steak sandwich on a previous trip. Be patient with Susan behind the bar, on our recent Tuesday visit (and most other days) she’s on her own and literally running to keep up with orders for the whole place. A visit to a bar and grill still stuck in the 70’s decor, you don’t...
Read moreI just ate there for the last time. As many other patrons have said the food is terrific with generous portions. But the waitress/bartender that has “served” me many times over the past year has recently interacted with my wife and I as though we were a bother and irritation to her for even being there. It’s an understatement to say that I’m the easiest customer to serve. I don’t need to even look at the menu! I’m NEVER on my phone when asked what I want to order, like so many rude people are. I place my order in literally 5-10 seconds. Diet Coke is all I ever order to drink. When I ask politely for a refill, this waitress will let me sit there with food I want to eat and fold napkins, take other people’s drink orders, chat it up with customers and then, when it suits her, begrudgingly drop off a refill without saying ONE word!! Today when she brought our food to our table she mumbled “mm- huh” and that was it! Unbelievable. I want it to be known that I have always and I do mean ALWAYS tipped her 20-25% regardless. I can excuse a waiter/waitress bringing bad food or spilling something on me, but I DO NOT excuse ANYONE treating my wife and I with such disdain and rude behaviour. I don’t do...
Read moreAh yes Zorba's. A place that has nothing but praise heaped on it from me, a couple times a month customer coming here for years, and my business partner who is a fixture in this place. It saddens me to say that it may be the end of the dream steak sandwich IF Jimmy is not in the kitchen but one of his two new guys is. Ordered a steak sandwich with swiss and mushrooms today and received a very poor facsimile of what they are when Jimmy, mom, or George used to cook. Two slices with fat trimmings left on and no mushrooms. The server noticed my unhappiness and I told her they forgot the mushrooms, which she offered to correct immediately after she said she makes mistakes too. My main beef was the lack of beef however. I told her the sandwich ain't what it used to be. I also told her it wasn't her I had a problem with. The problem was $12.75 and .75 for cheese for a sandwich that left me hungry...for real. That price is definitely worth the old sandwich I am used to. I noticed the server shared my feedback with the cooks and they all seemed to share a chuckle. I'm glad I could bring them some joy. Wonder if others are noticing this? Super disappointed and the first time leaving...
