I was really excited to visit Home Team after seeing all the five-star reviews, but unfortunately, my experience didn’t live up to the hype.
First, the double stamp itself was nice and spacious, though understandably crowded due to the rainy day. I tried the blue raspberry seltzer, but it was disappointing—barely any raspberry flavor and an odd pool-cleaner smell.
While sitting on a couch, I noticed the bartender struggling to move a table. We offered to help, but she declined. A man on the other side of the bar also started moving furniture, yet at no point did she inform me that I needed to move. I had to ask, and instead of making eye contact or acknowledging me, she just seemed annoyed. I lost my seat, which was fine, so I stood and waited for space at the bar. Eventually, she pointed out a table, but by then, I had already settled at the bar and told her I was fine.
At the double stamps across the bartenders all seemed unfriendly and disengaged. They didn’t seem happy to be there. The bar also felt very unorganized, with a lot of people standing around, unsure of where to go or who to talk to.
After one drink, we headed across the street to try the brisket. The brisket itself was tender, but the bar experience was just as unpleasant. I ordered a whiskey sour, and what I got tasted like lemonade with whiskey poured on top—no foam, no cherry, not even mixed. Is shaking drinks not the standard here? Meanwhile, the bartender stood there staring at the ceiling, scratching his arms, and avoiding eye contact, which made things uncomfortable.
When we were ready to leave, I waited 20 minutes for my check while the bartender lingered at the end of the bar, and the others ignored me completely. The whole experience felt like they didn’t want to be there, and honestly, it killed the atmosphere.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend Home Team, at least not for the bar experience. I hope this review helps others avoid the same...
Read moreSo we ended up here by mistake because the original destination did not have dine-in service on Memorial Day. We are so glad we ended up here. The food was amazing! We had fried ribs, and wings as an appetizer and they were both delicious. We also ordered brisket sliders and mac and cheese which were all tasty. We can't wait to go back here and take more people with us. I always give a sweet tea review and this one was maybe a 3 out of 5. It was okay, but not your Southern sweet tea like you would get at Dunkin Donuts. Our service name was Joey. He was very attentive and I always love it when a server brings a refill of my drink without me even noticing. By the time my glass was empty I realized there was another full glass next to it. Best top tier service!! I'll be sure to request him when I take a group there. Oh! There's some kind of mixture they bring out with the fried ribs that's got a good kick to it. I was a little skeptical but it's excellent! If you like bold spicy flavors make sure you try it. They also have an enclosed patio that can be bought out. It's normally the area where people sit if they have dogs. But I was told it's cleaned pretty good daily. Just wanted to mention it in case anyone has allergies.
If I had to mention an improvement, the only thing I was expecting was a manager to come by and ask about the food or our experience but that never happened.
Anyways ....... I can't wait to go back...
Read moreI have good things to say about Home Team BBQ. All of the meat options are all excellent (and portion sizes), and their sides also are.
There was some inaccurate communication concerning our wait time, then some over-extended wait times for most of our food as well. This was all rectified without complaint from our side at all, by the front-of-house manager. He treated us right. Shout out to him, the hostesses, and to our servers.
Judging by the pace of all of the workers and the amount of people they were serving, I'd say that we just happened to come here for the first time at an unusually trying time for their staff. As it was my wife's birthday, I certainly would've liked some things to go more smoothly but, once again, these are professionals, and they treated us with respect, owning up to the shape of our situation without us even having to complain or approach them with the grievance.
(further context: There was a live-music event setting up outside and they also were catering for it (like, cooking as things were happening), along with dealing with a busier-than-average dining room on a Saturday.)
The food is great, the service is professional, the venue is nice, and I guess the only problem they really have is in dealing with the occasional massive wave to their otherwise very-busy restaurant, which is a good...
