Best decent 'home cooked' ready to heat and eat and/or fresh selections to cook for dinner that you'll find in the area. Pburg doesn't offer a great deal of quality food like this geared toward those feeding the family something decent with a small window of time (other than fast food or the nasty stuff served up at the local supermarkets). Rath's was my definite go-to place when rushing home from my long commute and still having to prepare a healthy but tasty dinner (no small feat for the non-cooker!). Despite the prices (which I'm told are actually just their costs due to the quality of the goods, and I tend to believe that since I'm familiar with the quality), it's the best 'deli'/butcher/prepared food place in town. My only gripe would be the hours as the place closes rather early for the serious commuters we have in the area. I'd have to either realllllly get a no-traffic miracle to get there in time from the other end of NJ where I work, or try and beg someone to go for me which seldom worked out. So that actually decreased how much I went there unfortunately. One more hour and I bet you'd have more business if people knew about it. I know that's all I needed! Oh and the frozen food entries are hit or miss in my experience. Actually, just miss so not sure if it's a freezing issue or what but the last few times I picked those up as a workaround to not being able to get there on time / frequently, the entries were not good at all (chicken Marsala and a pasta dish that I would never have thought could be bad but it managed to completely 'miss' the spot). I'm not sure if some don't get sold quick enough so they're in the freezer too long or what's up or if I just had two back to back bad rounds of luck. I know the fresh cooked food is great, but these were awful and cost about $25 each. So shame on me for trying twice I guess. Hence the overrated statement because I'd been specifically told to buy those for their quality and nothing disappointed me more. However, those were two incidents out of mostly positive ones overall. The folks there are super nice and efficient, working like a well-oiled machine to get the line in and out ASAP. So if your sick of all those fast food places surrounding the area and craving some real food (or decent deli meat for a change), Rath's is a definite breath of fresh air, especially to your family or your significant other your...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at Raths Deli in Stewartsville, NJ
I recently had a very concerning experience at Raths Deli, located at 450 County Road 519, Stewartsville, NJ 08886. As a repeat customer, I expected quality service and food, but what transpired was quite the opposite.
Firstly, I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap, which was supposed to be a safe choice for both me and my child. However, to my horror, I found a bone in the chicken, which posed a serious choking hazard. This was not just a minor oversight; it could have had fatal consequences. The lack of attention to such a critical detail in food preparation is alarming.
When I called the restaurant to report this issue, the response was utterly unprofessional. The young man who answered the phone not only hung up on me but also failed to provide any assistance when I called back. Claiming to be the only person in the store, his demeanor was dismissive, and the background laughter I heard only added to my frustration.
This incident wasn’t my first negative experience with Raths Deli. Previously, I had purchased one of their pre-made frozen meals, labeled as Swedish meatballs, only to discover it contained no meatballs at all. When I reached out to them, they acknowledged the mislabeling but refused to rectify their mistake.
The overall customer service at this establishment is a significant concern. Many patrons, including myself, have been warned about the lack of managerial presence or ownership accountability, especially when issues arise. This aligns with my experiences where no satisfactory resolutions were offered.
Furthermore, the food pricing does not match the quality provided. There are several other eateries in the area that offer better taste and value for money. Cleanliness is another area where Raths Deli falls short.
Lastly, the lack of handicap accessibility is a notable drawback. This, combined with an almost always empty parking lot, reflects the overall appeal of the deli.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Raths Deli based on these experiences. From safety concerns to poor customer service and lackluster food quality, there are far better options available in the area that prioritize customer...
