Panera Bread — Restaurant in Pohatcong Township

I am brutally honest in feedback and so I generally avoid leaving reviews. I don't give 5 stars unless service is above and beyond my already high standards. However, I had such a pleasant experience today, I felt the staff deserved some praise. Each of the 3 staff members I interacted with today had genuine smiles on their faces. It is so rare to see people who look like they enjoy their job interacting with people. Even the staff who walked through the dining area asking if everything was to the customers satisfaction seemed to genuinely care (rather than the "I'm being forced to ask people this and taking it as a punishment" attitude I have come to expect from anyone not a host and manager at dining establishments.). Just a casual while strolling by, is there anything I needed, without worry that I might say yes and without putting any pressure on me to hurry up and move on. I like Panera bread. If you're going to carb up this is a tasty way to do it. The food is reasonable priced and they do have healthy options in the menu too, like salads. I like the seating arrangements because it feels very private and even when full it's rather quiet. The free WiFi is very nice too. The only thing that keeps me from treating this higher is the fact that you still have to do a lot yourself which drives me crazy at places like this. if I give you $2 in exchange for a drink I want the drink not to be given a cup and then told well now you still have to go and get your own drink it's at the drink station around the corner only 50 feet away! Same thing with condiments on sandwiches Etc. I kind of just want to get what I order and pay for upfront if there's a refill station that's fine but it would be nice to get the drink once I pay for it. I came here with my 3 kids (3,8,14) and we ordered 2 soups, Mac and cheese, and 2 sandwiches. It was $49. Crazy, but okay... No cups in the self serve area, figured they would put them with our order but had to ask. They also forgot one sandwich and one bread, and gave us the wrong side for one. No cup lids in the self serve area either, but at this point I just opened the storage cabinet and took one out of them sleeve. Clearly I work here at this point so it doesn't matter. 😂 The sandwiches were pathetically made and probably would have been more full at Subway.
