On Tuesday, my coworker and I set off to explore downtown Greer, and we stumbled upon an amazing gem! When we asked two friendly ladies for dining recommendations, they couldn’t stop raving about Crate. Their enthusiastic descriptions had us hooked, so we decided to give it a shot, and boy, are we glad we did! As soon as we entered, we were greeted warmly by the owner and their family, making us feel right at home. After diving into the menu and hearing about the mouthwatering specials, we couldn’t resist ordering the oxtails and grits, paired with a side of greens. And let me tell you, we were absolutely blown away! The portion sizes were generous, and the flavors were simply out of this world. The oxtails were so tender they practically melted off the bone, and those blue grits—oh my goodness—were worth the two hours they advised it took to prepare. They were nothing short of divine! My coworker also decided to order a strawberry salad topped with salmon home for lunch the next day. The staff were incredibly thoughtful, carefully separating all the ingredients to keep her salad fresh and crisp. That little touch made all the difference! The whole experience was filled with delightful service, and we had a fantastic time chatting with everyone at the establishment. The food was exceptional, and I enthusiastically recommend that anyone within an hour’s drive make a beeline for Crate if they appreciate amazing cuisine! A huge thank you to Crate for an unforgettable meal! I can't wait to return and indulge in more of your culinary delights!

Hello everyone, allow me to share my recent experience at Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar located in Greer, South Carolina. I must say, it was truly a culinary adventure worth remembering. The restaurant has a chic ambiance that gives you a feel of dining in a trendy New York City hotspot. Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at Crate is impressive, offering a wide variety of options to choose from. If you are looking for the most popular entrees, let me share my experience. The pan-seared scallops were cooked to perfection and served with a sweet corn puree that was simply delightful. Up next was the pork belly ramen, and I must say it was a flavor explosion. The tender slices of pork belly, perfectly boiled egg, savory broth, and homemade noodles were all well-executed and delicious. If you are in the mood for something hearty, I would highly recommend the braised short rib. The dish was fall-off-the-bone tender, served with creamy mashed potatoes and a red wine reduction that was simply divine. Crate also boasts an extensive selection of wines from all around the world, and their knowledgeable staff will help you find the perfect pairing for your meal. Overall, my experience at Crate was amazing. The food was scrumptious, service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was simply superb. If you ever find yourself in the Greer area, do yourself a favor and stop by Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar - Greer, SC NEW CHEF!!! I had the pleasure of dining at Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar this evening, and it was a fantastic experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed yet refined evening. We met the new chef, Serenity. She was kind and welcoming and has phenomenal gifts in the kitchen. For appetizers, I tried the lobster sliders, and they were incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For my main course, I had the shrimp and grits, which were cooked to perfection. The creamy grits paired beautifully with the juicy shrimp, and the dish was full of bold Southern flavors. My dining companion had the lobster mac & cheese, which featured a large split lobster tail that was fried and placed on top of the rich, creamy mac and cheese. The lobster was tender and plentiful, adding an extra level of indulgence to the dish. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for a wonderful dining experience. Overall, Crate Restaurant and Wine Bar exceeded my expectations, and I look forward to returning soon! Definitely a new Favorite

So last Saturday I had called the restaurant at least 4xs about the lobster sliders and how to order through GrubHub. My last call was about how much lobster was in the sliders. The guy who answered my question, also advise it was still okay to do online ordering through GH. So I ordered right after that call through GrubHub. 10 minutes later I got a message from GrubHub my order was cancelled. I was quite disappointed I contacted GrubHub to see why?Was it the mileage. They said the order never got made. I thought that was odd cuz it was only 10 minutes from the time I the ordered til the cancellation email. So I gave the restaurant a lovely 1 star. Today I went to the restaurant and I wasn't going to say anything about my review. However, my opinions got the best of me. Well I'm glad I did say something. The staff took the time to listen, apologize and didn't make me feel bad about writing a poor review. They actually said it's the right thing to do when you order something and expect it to arrive and then it's cancelled. The staff took responsibility for my order being cancelled, didn't give any excuses, they didn't try to push it off on GrubHub.The chef even came out and apologized. He remembered my phone calls and explained that from my last call til when he got my order they ran out of their "baked fresh that day" slider rolls. He also made me feel good about writing the review. He said next time to call and he will see about fixing something with the main ingredient in a different manner. They compted my to go order, which I didn't expect. They really took ownership about the cancelled order. They seemed genuinely upset for me that I did not get my desired lobster. Needless,to say this is why I'm back writing a 5 star review. The collard greens were very tasty and the lobster was good. Thanks for caring about your customer. I feel you treated me the way you would want...

We made a reservation for 5:15 pm on the same day, a Saturday, that should have been a clue. The building and restaurant is beautiful...however...when we arrived the bartender/manager took our drink order. Mine was a little detailed, but he didnt write it down. The music was very loud. It took about 20 min to get our drinks, when the other 2 if our party arrived, it took them a while to come take their order. We had to ask about those drink another 20 min later. By this time it was about 6, when they finally took our dinner order, which again they didnt write down. At 6:45, we asked what was up with our meals, as we saw others that had come after us eating, later we found that they were eating part of our dinner. Then we saw someone, who we later learned was the cook, come in with bags of rolls and boxed lettuce. They then serve 1 person a salad, 1 person shrimp and grits (cold) and one persons side, brussel sprouts. NO UTENSILS..we had to ask for those and wait while another waitress went to roll up utensils to bring us. When we complained about where our food was, they explained that one of our meals had been served to another table and it confused them. It was chaos for a bit trying to get our meals. It was 7:30 until we finally got our meals. The other waitress (not ours) was apologizing, she was the only person there that seemed to know what was going on. The finallly manager came over, gave a half hearted apology, and said he'd comp our drinks. Then when we got the bills, some drinks were still charged. Again, we pointed it out, and they took it off. This was NOT a good experience, we will not be back. For the time we spent trying to eat, a good staffed restaurant could have fed 3 parties in that time. This place is poorly run, and its sad, it could be a...

I attempted to reach the owners after a very disappointing experience, but neither my calls nor emails were returned. We were the only 2 guests in the restaurant during our reservation, but we were told they didn't have the ingredients for the appetizers we ordered. Our server eventually came back and said they actually could make what we wanted, so we ordered the duck spring rolls and chicken sliders. 30 minutes later, the duck spring rolls arrive, but the sliders still aren't out. At this point, the server has come to our table multiple times to tell us the chef is running behind...even though we are still the only 2 guests in the building. The spring rolls were pretty underwhelming after a 30 minute wait, and 15 minutes later (a total of 45 minutes for appetizers), the chicken sliders arrive. The dish is small and we noticed there was no pimento cheese on it like the menu stated. We asked our server about it and she said the chef "replaced" the pimento cheese with an aioli. This is hardly a substitution, and we wouldn't have ordered them if we had known. The sliders were chicken nuggets that tasted microwaved served on an untoasted, unseasoned bun with wilted lettuce. We didn't finish them, and we were charged more than the price listed on the menu. We decided to cancel our entrees based on the wait time and the presentation of the dishes. There was no effort by the chef or management to rectify the situation. I emailed them a detailed explanation much like this one and called multiple times, but I never received any sort of communication from them.

Update: I tried to email the owner TWICE after she responded to this review, and I still have received zero communication, nor have I received any refund...
