Read moreThe only thing worse than the food is the service and the halfwits that have somehow found themselves doing the jobs of grown ups. Three of us went in for trivia on a Tuesday and were met with confusion regarding how humans are sat at a restaurant. I thought maybe it was everyone’s first day. It was twenty minutes before trivia started and there were plenty of tables open, probably because the place sucks, but they acted as if they were expecting a huge, last minute crowd. It was comical to see them try to manage seating the 10 people actually playing trivia, while not allowing anyone to sit at the two largest tables set aside for their imaginary customers. They asked us to move to a booth to seat a party of five, when the party of five could have sat at ten other spots. When we expressed our confusion, the waitress said “she’d need to get the manager to deal with us”. Boy was he impressive. He blamed the only decent waitress in the place for not knowing how to properly seat people. The imaginary rush never materialized, so the two twelve tops and at least five booths sat empty, while we sat directly under the TV craning our necks to read the trivia questions. Not surprisingly, they dropped a check for $63 and then charged us $106. The manager extraordinaire only took 20 minutes to get that straightened out. The charges have still not been reversed. I wish I could remember the name of the first waitress. She was the biggest joke of them all. What a sad establishment. If you want to check out this jewel, you should do it quickly, because they won’t survive the downtown Greer upgrade. I wouldn’t go on trivia night, though. They usually pack in about eight players and seating is limited! Wear your walking shoes so you can walk back and forth to the bar, fetching your own straws, napkins and ketchup....
Read moreThis was our second time at Blue Ridge. The first visit was outstanding, and we were excited to return. This visit was a profound disappointment. My son was visiting. He and his girlfriend joined us. I had the smoked chili, which was delicious. My wife and son both had the fish and chips. The first time the fish was served, it was clearly overdone. It was a coffee-dark-brown color, with parts even darker than that. I am at a loss to how cooked could've plated it, and the server present it, without noticing. When I pointed it out to the server, she confirmed "Yes, that is burnt", and she graciously apologized, and took the plates back. When she brought the replacement plate out, the fish was again dark. Better than the first, but still well-past golden. The server indicated the fish was dark "because of the oil." Not sure what that means. Was the oil dirty or old? There are other pics online of the fish with a great golden hue. As for the other entree, my son's girlfriend ordered a regular burger with cheese. The burger had excellent char and great flavor. The pink center was a perfect medium cook. However what was ordered was a WELL-DONE burger. (See pic) The server confirmed the burger was under done, and later stated the cook that made the burger was new. Like a number of other reviews the staff is noticeably friendly. The quality of food preparation, even on the re-do is unacceptable. Three of three entrees were poorly or incorrectly prepared and served. There was no additional accommodation for the errors, aside from the server's apology. Quite a disappointing meal. For the price of the meal, the expectation of preparation and presentation was...
