Emailed this review in over a week ago, the manager/owner clearly couldn’t care less, and hasn’t replied.
“I’ve had a week since my visit to your restaurant, and a week to think about how utterly dire the service was. I tried finding an excuse, but that is as difficult as drawing blood from a stone.
We arrived at about 7:30pm. It took about 25 minutes for our server - Aubrey to see us for drinks orders, after we had prompted the host. Once she finally got to the table she seemed completely uninterested. We placed our drinks orders, and another wait commenced. Bear in mind the restaurant wasn’t even 30% full, and the bar was at half capacity. It took a further 25 minutes to get 3 beers delivered to the table. 1 of the drinks, an unsweetened tea was omitted from the ordered. Aubrey didn’t like being corrected about the missing drink, and walked off in a huff about it.
We ordered fried pickles with the original drinks, they took Atleast 30 minutes to come out and were cold. They were almost certain left on the side, and neglected by Aubrey.
We ordered our mains and another round once the pickles arrived. We wrongly trusted Aubrey. 30 minutes went by, tables around us were receiving their food, we were eager. We asked Aubrey where our food was. She went off to another table, then to the kitchen to ask.
Not a word for 15 minutes. Aubrey comes back and tells us the kitchen must have lost the ticket. All this happened shortly after we saw her ringing in the order on the EPOS.
When Aubrey walked pasted again, 20 minutes later, still with no food. We told her to cancel the food and just give us the check for the drinks and pickles. She again, seemed to give no cares about this.
All of what happened is completely unacceptable. We saw numerous tables walk out, because of this service. Leaving 100s of dollars out of your pockets.
By the time we left it was closing in on 10pm. Terrible service led to this. Daniel, the manager on duty seemed to have little grip over Aubrey or other staff. Who all seemed more pleased to be chatting out back with the...
Read moreDisclaimer: I understand that we’re experiencing a very difficult time right now, but I had a terrible experience at this restaurant earlier today!
Let me begin by saying I’m walking down Trade St. to find a warm meal to feed my family. I see a man with 2 full bags of food leaving The Mason Jar, so I thought I would give it a try. I entered and the young lady at the front was actually really nice. I asked if they’d do carry-out, and she said yes, there’s about a 15 minute wait, but they can help me out at the bar. So, I go to the bar and wait a few minutes before the woman at the bar asks what will I be drinking. I proceeded by asking if I could order food to go. She then told me that they could NOT, because they had to make sure everyone seated got their food. I was polite and said okay and then left to go to a much better and nicer restaurant: La Joya. I want you to understand that I am very patient and willing to wait. I was going to give a generous tip as well. So, if that’s how you want to run a business, so be it, because technically my ass was seated at your restaurant. A better approach would have been to say that maybe there’s an even longer wait period, or to even see what I wanted to order in the first place!?
Edit: response to the owner’s snarky reply:
I would have appreciated you all if you had better communication, less attitude from the bar, and was willing to feed a family in your community, but instead you...
Read moreWent for lunch on a Sunday to grab a bite with the wife. I ordered a Buffalo chicken sandwhich as a wrap with onion rings and the wife ordered Shrimp and Grits. Total for this and 2 drinks was 44 dollars and change. Brought me a pad for my card to pay so I had to choose whether or not I wanted to tip in front of the server with tip options starting at 18 percent on the tablet.
How was the food? This is a pub pretending to be more. Food was fine it's pub food. Shrimp and grits was the winner, the wrap was acceptable and the onion rings were actually better than I normally get.
Why is this two stars? Overpriced as all get out. My wrap was a single fried chicken thigh for 15 dollars. They didn't even put ranch on it which is how it is described in the menu. I know that prices for ingredients have risen but I can get a better cut and a fuller wrap from nearly anywhere for about 10 bucks. Shrimp and Grits was like 20 for a blob on a plate with 3 Shrimp and some bacon.
Yes btw, it was a chicken thigh too, a cheaper cut than a breast or tenderloin.
Server tried to take my plate before I was done and even though I think the guy was alright, that combined with the annoying tip screen and the premium prices for average pub food means I can't recommend the place.
There are plenty of bars in Greer, many of them within walking distance. Make sure you dislike those before...
