I'm is coarse a fan of the downtown pub with a brick walls and me classic oldies on the radio so... I especially enjoyed the environment. The only caveat about this restaurant is that they don't open till 4:30 on Friday and Saturdays so keep that in mind when planning your dinner time out... but know it's worth the wait.
The staff is also very welcoming and friendly, and although they don't open till 4:30 when the sun is trying to set in the spring and they tried to set us by the window in the blinding setting sun... We ended up at a high-top table near the bar that was comfy and still fairly quiet but also near the central hub of activity.
For an appetizer we started with the sausage and cheese dip. It was delish, my husband liked all the meat and cheese and I like the fresh bits of onion and tomato that garnish the center and for me balanced out the richness of the sausage and cheese dip.
I got a sweet tea with lemons because I prefer an Arnold Palmer that's not mixed with high fructose corn syrup of fake lemonade... The sweet tea in and of itself was pretty great considering I don't usually enjoy the overly sweet and Southern style sweet teas served in the south... but this was very nicely balanced with the strong bitterness of the black tea against the light sweetness of the sugar.
My tea went extremely well with the the great oyster house burger and those perfectly crispy double fried seasoned french fries. I would prefer the burger without the fried onion strings as I think they just added a lot of grease and not a whole lot of flavor. But otherwise having to eat a well done burger due to pregnancy, I found it still perfectly juicy and delicious.
My husband got a Seasonal Sam Adams on tap that paired nicely with his fresh raw Blue Point Oysters from Prince Edwards Island. He especially liked the horseradish paired with the oysters.
Our waitress Katie excellent, not overly attentive but kept an eye out for when if we needed anything.
Overall I would recommend this place and definitely come back...
Read moreFirst time trying this place not impressed. Called ahead to see how busy they were told them we were ten minutes away, they said not very busy at all and they’d be happy to get a table for us. We thought that was very nice and told them we’d be there soon. We arrive and tell them our name and they say it’s going to be a twenty minute wait, we were confused since they said they’d have our table ready but we sat and waited should have left then after being lied too. Finally get our table and it’s a tiny two person table in the corner by the door so you’re surrounded by people at all times I’m 9 months pregnant and obviously need space.. wait twenty minutes for our drinks and then they proceed to sit a ten top next to us that’s meant for five so I’m trying to eat and can literally touch these people without even fully extending out, they are a drunk older crowd that keeps getting up and down to go out and yell to friends and pound on the windows. I’ve had enough at this point and ask for my food which I have not received yet to just be boxed up and taken to go, you’d think they waitress or manager would check to see why and make sure I’m happy which they don’t and I’m not. For the price the food was lacking in quality and taste the only good thing was the key lime pie. We planned on purchasing a giftcard for a neighbor who had been wanting to try this place but after the terrible service we received we obviously did not purchase. I would absolutely not recommend this...
Read moreOur group of 12 were cordially greeted and seated upon arrival even though we arrived not all at once. The reserved table was ready for us and all enjoyed their "happy hour" reduced price liquid libations. Our server seemed a bit overwhelmed as the restaurant was packed and seemed understaffed. Our group contributed to the very noisy atmosphere overall. Most of us started with appetizers and all were well prepared including different oyster options. My wife and I shared a generous plate of fried calamari. The entrees were a different story. I enjoyed their jumbo crab cake platter and substituted french fries for mashed potatoes. My wife's fried oyster platter was a small portion of what appeared to be only one complete oyster with the rest being just chopped oyster pieces almost like what might be described as "cracklings". Those who ordered scallops mentioned that the membranes were not removed. One person ordered a fried shrimp and flounder combo but didn't receive the shrimp until he finished his meal. The delay in bringing our bills by our very busy server allowed for extending our conversations but certainly contributed to a limited turn of the tables to serve others waiting. All things considered, our groups' experience was a "mixed...
