Absolutely abhorrent and when we walked in they were basically empty (on a SATURDAY) honestly should have been our first hint to turn on our heels and RUN. Our waitress was amazing couldn't catch her name though. Now that thats out of the way lets get to the food. Aweful. We asked about the oysters and they claimed they had come in around four days ago (gross!). We ordered a soup and salad; the french onion soup was bland covered up with hella salt and the Caesar salad had two and a HALF croutons on it (couldn't even round up to three huh?) other than that the salad was ok. We each got the "giant" porterhouse steak with chateau sauce but got what was essentially a T-bone steak that has it's own juices spooned over it. Both steaks we're terribly tough and tasted less than decent. Mine tasted OLD and when I took a bite I tasted fish? Wasn't able to stomach it after that...My fathers baked potatoe was cold and my "house fries" were cooked wrong. The owner came by to talk with us and claimed that the steaks were choice (they tastes less than select) and that hes buying them himself and got offended when we said that the taste was not worth the price (put more politely then that obviously). The only decent thing was the bread and butter and for a $113 bill your better off at a Outback or Texas Roadhouse...The owner seemed like a nice man but he really needs to rethink his business practices. For the price of 52 dollars per steak they really should be closer...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCooking professionally, and being a consumer, in the downriver area for about 30yrs now I'm well aware of some hit/miss attitude towards Perdinos. Aware enough that when my family decided 20 of us were going to go there for my grandfather's 91st birthday celebration, I made sure they were aware too and asked them, "are you sure this is where you wanna go with group our size". But this is where my grandparents wanted to be so we were going.
To Perry specifically, you put all my concerns to bed for evening.. any given day may not be like the "old days" but tonight, you nailed it my man. Everyone enjoyed the food. Not only that, and admittedly to my surprise, the tables were served their entrees without a incredibly long wait. I know we limited our menu with that in mind, but you fired on all cylinders tonight regardless. Thank you, and great job!
To the Service staff - you were friendly, attentive, and timely. Thank you and great job as well..
Restaurant reviews don't typically look like this but it really meant a lot to me given the celebration/celebrator that this night went...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's been a number of years since I've dined at Perdino's. Don't live on the island anymore but visit on occasion for some reason or another. Have found myself dining here from time to time over the last 28 years, since I was about 20 yrs old. As far as the food.. there is no question about that. It is always excellent. I am a food snob who loves her own cooking so tough to please when dining out. I have low tolerance for poor service as well. No issue here. The service was again superior, as always. I can recall when Perry was having the restaurant proudly remodeled back in 1990 or 91. It was so "updated" back then! When I walked in yesterday, with my l daughter for dinner, It was certainly pleasing to see that not one thing had changed since my last visit. I get it.. some folks are more into a more hipster style for dining. But for us gen x'ers, so very much has changed drastically during our lifetime, that it's a sight for sore eyes to see something that hasn't changed a bit. ...
