I used to love Indian food about fifteen years ago. My friends and I would spend hours at any spot in Hamtramck sharing about 6 dishes and cup after cup of chai tea. The flavors were always perfect, dishes always tasted the same and we loved them for that. Now that I'm older, my stomach won't let me LIVE! Some of the seasonings don't sit well and I can't have dairy anymore. So sad! One stormy, rainy day my friend told me she found a place with terrific food. We shared veggie biryani with no spice and it was AMAZING! No spice meant no hot chili flakes because that dish was FULL OF FLAVOR. The Noor, yes this restaurant deserves the nickname, The Light, roasted those veggies perfectly before mixing them in and frying that rice biryani style. My fav veggie is onions and those were beautifully done, crispy on the edges and slightly soft in the middle. You guys, I had thirds of this food at my friend's house AND she let me take the rest home! Next day for dinner I warmed it up, low and slow, in a pot with a tiny bit of water at the bottom and a lid. It came out almost as good as the day before and I killed it. Listen, I live 35 minutes from this location and would drive over in a rain storm to get The Light's food. It's that good. You...
Read moreThe food was definitely very good and large portions, enough to take home. Service very hospitable. The surprise came at the end of the meal when we were informed of a 4% credit surcharge added to our bill. This alone will prevent me from returning here. My wife and i just sold her floral business in Ada Mi of 20+ years - Artisan Flowers. So i know precisely how credit charges work. Our charges averaged 3% per transaction which is high because 90% of our orders came over our phone lines which is an added risk to credit processors. Yet we NEVER passed these on to customers. That's not how it works. Cards taken at the restaurant, like ours was, cost merchants much less, between .5 and 2.5% on the HIGH END. This restaurant is charging 4% on all credit sales. It's a profit center for ownership. So my normal 20-25% tip became 15%. You don't charge customers for paying their bill. It's as...
Read moreIf I could give it 0 stars I would. Everything was over priced and terrible. My food wasn’t ready at the expected time. I had to wait an additional 30 minutes, when they already gave me a 45-50 minute wait. And they’re very unsanitary when it comes down to the rice. They don’t use gloves to get the rice out the steamer. Instead, any employee is available to get the rice out the steamer, by using a plastic bowl (bowls that they use to package other meals) with no gloves, while it’s a box of gloves hovering over them on the shelf. I immediately told them I don’t want the rice, but I’ll take everything else. They didn’t offer a discount or anything free for the inconvenience. I will not be coming back nor recommending anyone. The food isn’t authentic and the food is poor quality. Im a chef myself, so I know this. Please do better, because y’all for sure don’t...
