Wow. Pure Joy. We were coming back from a tour in Downtown Detroit and truly wanted to go someplace that we've never been. Then B O O M! I thankfully recalled Champs could be on our path. Called ahead to see if they had seating at 3:30 pm on 1-4-25 ( a Saturday) The gal who took our call was filled with joy and enthusiasm and said come on in we can't wait to serve you ( love positive front line staff * First Impressions) Found a place to park (metered) Sat near the fireplace, charming atmosphere. Celeste & Bella were our tandem servers (Bella was in training) I of course ordered the ribs. Celeste said do you prefer fall off the bone or traditional? Tough call, but I went old school traditional. Upgraded to a side of chili, it was served hot and a flavorful blend of meat, spices and the right amount of beans. The ribs, oh the ribs!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The char, the deep flavor, made me nostalgic... How/Why? 100% they reminded me of the former Eastside restaurant the point BBQ Legendary and long gone. Celeste, Bella set a nice pace, plus the kitchen was humming. Also the young busboys were present and very helpful. Mr. Danny Curis, the owner and local Big Boy owner stopped by welcomed us, thanked us for stopping in. This business is locally owned, we watched him sitting in the directors chair at the bar. Welcoming each guest by name, those that dined in and the carryout customers. Our visit was: Superior Excellent And I'm plotting a quick return, plus bringing others with me.

I would not return here again. Our waitress, Ashlyn, suggested the tropical salmon. It was so dry. I was very disappointed. She said that is their most popular fish dish. So I definitely won't be coming back if that was their best. The rib tips were just okay... Not very meaty. The burger was good. There was not a lot of flavor in any of the food here. We ordered the mojitos and it was mostly soda. There were also fruit flies in the winter.

4 stars because the customer service is warm, friendly, and welcoming. The food was just ok. For the prices on the limited menu (due to covid) I expected the food to be super delicious. The restaurant itself is cozy, and the enclosed patio is a wonderful touch. We had the perch bites and the chicken quesadilla.

We ordered dinner via grub hub, and ordered the fish and chips for one of the entrees. When we received our order, we did not receive the fish and chips. We called to make it known, and we were told that they did not have any cod cut up for the fish and chips dinner. They opted to just send the order anyways and charge us for it without telling us they were not sending it. When we complained, they suddenly decided that they would cut up some more cod for a fish and chips order, but that we would have to come pick it up. The whole point of ordering via grub hub was to not have to go pick it up, a service for which we already paid. The ribs that were ordered were extremely dry, and very tough, requiring a steak knife to separate the meat from the bone. We received an abundant amount of cole slaw, which unfortunately, was on the sweet side. the ribs dinner ordered with a baked potato did not include the baked potato, which was ordered as the gluten free option when we had to pick it up with the fish and chips ordered, the baked potato was placed in the same box as the fish and chips dinner. Thank God it was at least covered in foil. It was not an enjoyable dinner, and neither party that ordered the ribs bothered to try to work the meat off the rack as it was just too much work to...

I was in the establishment on 1/28/2023 ,I had just left a restaurant because of not being able to order what was on the menu,my friend suggested we go to this place called Champs,i must say I’m glad to have been introduced to Champs,im a steak person and let me tell you,you are my go to place for here on out,I live in Macomb and I will be taking the trip to get my steak from you for now on,the staff is on point and very respectful and friendly and the other guests is friendly as well,I will definitely refer you to all my family and friends the food was top notch and I’m a Long Island guy and believe me when I tell you that it was the best long island I have ever had,not because it had a lot of liquor but it was made just right,it was perfect.I can go on and on about the best service I received but just keep doing what you are...
