We came here a few weeks ago. The man that greeted us told my party of two that they were busy today, we asked how long the wait would be, and he stated, "I don't know." This is the first time I have heard this for an answer from a greeter. I looked in the bar area that had plenty of seating and asked if we could dine in there, and he said sure, no problem. I guess he had a difficult time processing information at that time when we walked in.
The service was slow at the bar. One guy behind the bar seemed to be the only server in the whole restaurant for a large party. He was busy talking to the people at the bar and playing fantasy football with them and watching the game. He never stopped at our table to take our order and looked right past us. The female bartender noticed and took our order.
The food came, and the bartender had a young waitress give us our food and drinks. While placing our drinks down, she spilled it on our table and my wife's bag and looked at us like,",, my bad. Nothing about her evened seemed apologetic. Not once did she offer to help clean up her mess or show any concern. I guess she is so clumsy that it's a natural habit.
There were two other servers that sat inside the bar area at a table across from the bar to use their cell phones to text their friends and eat, I could only hope that their customers were not waiting for their food.
Good help is hard to find, I suggest replacing her and the male server and doing more with less.
The ribs were spot on as I had them at other FDs, so the quality met the standard. The collard greens were not bad for a franchise. The Mac and cheese was bland, and if you are used to soul food baked macaroni and cheese, then you would know the one they serve here is not going to impress you.
All in all, the ribs and chicken are my go-to for FDs, but the wait staff servers get 1 star. I will go back again. Hopefully, the servers are a little more professional on my next visit. This seems to be a management issue that should...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFamous Dave's is a favorite haunt of mine whenever I'm back in the States. Portions are large enough for a big guy like me; service is always quick and friendly. Menu choices are what you'd expect from a decent, family-friendly barbecue joint.
Tonight, I had my usual brisket in a two-meat combo, but for the first time ever, I tried the rib tips. These proved to be excellent-- packed with flavor and providing a variety of textures from soft and succulent to charred and crispy. It goes without saying that the brisket, my favorite cut of the cow, was on point.
The 2-meat combo comes with two sides, but I ordered an extra side so I could have my usual Holy Trinity of mac-and-cheese, coleslaw, and beans. All the sides were excellent, as was the incredible cornbread that came as part of the meal.
I was stuffed, but I had room for dessert, so I ordered Dave's famous bread pudding, which is what I normally get. There's been some talk that the pudding's size has shrunk over the past few years, and it may have, but it's still plenty large and reasonably priced. It was also just as delicious, this time around, as what I remembered.
My brother ordered an Ultimate Burger, which he destroyed in minutes. The burger comes topped with a small pile of pulled pork, and while I didn't taste it, I can say it looked and smelled mighty impressive.
I don't think you can go wrong eating at Famous Dave's, at least not at the branch located at Richmond Highway, Groveton (near Hybla valley), Alexandria, VA. Major props to our server Olivia, who stayed on top of things despite a busy dinner hour. Great food, great service, and good times. 5...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTonight, I had an absolute horrible experience at Famous Daveās. Not because of the establishment as a whole, but because an employee named Chris. He was the bartender. Chris was rude and obnoxious to myself and a friend. He had a horrible attitude. My brother went to the restroom and he then poured out my brotherās beer after I specifically told him that my brother was still working on his drink. What makes it worse is that the drink was already paid for! Chris showed no sign of care for what he did. I spoke with the manager on duty at the time. Nasir was his name if Iām not mistaken. Nasir apologized multiple times for Chrisā ridiculous behavior and did his best to try to defuse the situation, which he did. Unfortunately, Chris persisted in engaging with me and my friends and family. Myself and Chris did exchange some harsh words but it was only after Chris repetively disrespected me and others. The other bartender Marcus aka Country was a great help in trying to reason with Chris. Chris had no intent on stopping the disrespect and said āFā you to me and my friend individually and told us to āGet the F out of my bar!ā Iāve been here before and itās been a little while since my last visit but I didnāt expect a great restaurant/bar like Famous Daveās to recruit such disrespectful and unorderly employees. I canāt say that I will ever visit this location again. Nothing against the company as a whole but I honestly can never feel the same about this establishment with a man like that behind the bar or anywhere in there operating the...
